Spoon Terran in Action!
Right after lunch, I walked over to the Player Feature station and found zero crowds around BlinG and an enormous one around ThorZain. It seemed silly to waste the opportunity so I stood right behind BlinG and proceeded to watch some insane matches.

He’s so handsome. And I was close enough to high five him if it was appropriate.
ThorZain had this bio build that went for super quick ghosts…and lots of them. And he showcased his insane control during the mid- and late- games where instead of just barreling into a maxed fight, he’d dance and send in little hit squads; split off from his bio ball. He’d send cloaked ghost hit squads to snipe various high-value targets such as High Templars (See Nony vs ThorZain in Losers Round 5) and Observers. He’d also send 2 marine harass to try and draw BlinG out of position. Who knew 2 marines could harass a mineral line effectively?
When BlinG finally pushes, he also shows some insane control and turns the tide of the battle with his positioning. It looks super grim for ThorZain and all of a sudden, he lands these clutch EMPs with the ghost hit squad. The EMPs were the only reason he won him the game. I turn around to smirk and ask Fallen if Terran was imbalanced. But instead I heard this clotted, French-accented English cursing EMP as OP.
I started to turn around and it was Stephano standing directly behind me and chatting up Fallen. And man…Fallen had the biggest shit eating grin on his face. Apparently while I was absorbed by the TvP match, Stephano had been chatting with Fallen about what Protoss could do.
So there I am, trying to summon my courage to ask Stephano to take a picture with me, when I realized that Grubby walked up to check out the matches. They soon giggle about some troll builds that Stephano could do, including reinforcing a push with a nydus worm. Kind of using it as the Zerg version of a forward pylon. Laughing at the ridiculous strat, Stephano then reminds Grubby that he’s better in WarCraft 3 and would beat him any day. Fuck the Stephano vs Naniwa SC2 showmatch, I want to see a WC3 grudge match. Also? I’ll take the eavesdropped conversation over a picture any day.
All the while, I see one Justin Agnew hard at work trying to capture some of the match. I realized who he was on Friday but he’s a really busy dude. Constantly filming and walking around, he finally sat down in front of me and turns the camera off to enjoy some of the TvP. So I took a chance and started to chat with Mr. StarNation. Thanked him for his hard work and how much I was looking forward to the movie. And he seemed genuinely surprised and excited that someone approached him to talk about the film. I told him how I had shown many of my non-SC2 friends the clips and how they wanted to watch the film just for the storylines. I guess I’m just trying to say that he’s a lot like most of the players; he’s very humble and really easy to talk to. I definitely would recommend chatting him up if you get the chance. When StarNation explodes onto the mainstream and Agnew is rolling in those eSports dollars, you can say you spoke to someone in Hollywood.
So where am I going with all this? ThorZain and BlinG make shit happen. Whether it’s showcasing next level TvP, setting up a potential WC3 all star grudge match, or letting me bask in Stephano’s aura. I’m definitely watching more ThorZain matches from now on.
