Recently I have been watching LgN.Avilo A funny little character, some may say hes a mini-destiny(in terms of being chatty on stream) Now while my personal opinion of this SC2 Character might be foul, well keep the politics outside of this blog and focus on whats important.
"Dat Gas"
To few many times I watch this streamer and he is banking some serious gas. We are talking 2-3k while hes hardly getting by with minerals.(this is by late game ofcourse)
Now I find this quite astounding for a GM to be doing this. Not only does he not spend the gas(it would really be hard to) but he CONTINUES to mine it.
*Kids don't do this at home."
Then ofcourse he continues to complain about game balance and so forth. If you lose with that much gas in your bank Obviously your doing something wrong.
Gas Management is KEY to being successful in Starcraft2. To many times I coach lower league players and they keep people on gas even when they don't need it. For a quick estimation, 3 guys on gas=100 gas/minute Every drone is worth about 33.333333% of your gas.
Thats something you should really keep in mind when playing. Do I really need to be mining 500 gas per minute right now. Can I allocate my 1-3 harvesters to increase my mineral intake somehow(assuming you are low on it)
Now while Gas is the 2nd most important resource in the game (1st being time ofcourse) Gas is nothing without your minerals.
So next time you have a lot of gas Mr.Avilo or any of you people really. Take them off. Even for a minute, thats a 100 less gas and alot more minerals than you think. Manage it well, when you spend enough of it and your mineral intake is decent, put them back on. Because we really cant make units without the minerals!

If you said "about a third" I'd agree. but the third harvester is not as much as the first two. http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=121686I actually agree with your message as a whole, I was just nitpicking.
notice how i said quick estimation T_T (100 gas per min= 3 drone=33.3333333% for 1 drone)

I clicked on this blog because I wanted to see if it was about car engine efficiency, starcraft analysis, or farting in public discreetly. True story.

Same here as well.... i thought that there might be some nuggets of info for car/truck MPG's cause gas is stupid high 4.19 blows when you have a 30 gallon tank.

Does it really matter? It doesn't change the fact that protoss is OP and that nothing he does can ever win him the game because this game is imbalanced, no matter how perfectly he plays the game!
Yeah... terran players should think about better ways to use their gas. I see this in zvt far too often as well. Should mix in more ghosts, ravens, banshees, nukes, etc...

o boy Sic you maddddd lololol, anyway I was going to say people should just start getting hybrids but I don't think it applies here : )

This is a terran thing.
So far every T I've asked about it has claimed that "We need lots of gas in the early game". But they all end up having a fortune by the end... Boggles my mind how you can play with such bad resource management and win still.

Alright, so for all of you who don't understand, this is what's going on.
It costs almost nothing to get those extra gysers. Pulling SCVs off the gysers won't give you more minerals, since your patches should already be saturated.
It makes the most sense to just leave the 3 scvs on the gas.
If you pull the 3 scvs off, it doesnt meant you're getting more minerals (because your bases are already saturated) it just means you are making less gas.
Edit: Also, the reason you get the extra gysers is for teching up early game (getting upgrades, buiding factories, reactors, starports - its' really gas intensive to get your tech going.) After your tech is up, you might not NEED the extra gas, but it doesn't really "cost" anything to keep them going (since moving the scvs to minerals provides no benifit)
