MASSIVE WALL OF TEXT INCOMING

So yesterday, I turned 18. I had it planned that I would go to a club with a close friend of mine but she backed out at the last moment due to have to work late that day and early the next. It was okay because I had still planned on going to the club with her and other friends from work, which the friends from work were still going (odd to go to a club on a Thursday night but it was my birthday and they open it up from 18+ on Thursdays, so it was convenient.

We go from my house to a friend to pick her up where shes still getting ready. While we are ready, me and 2 other girls from work, we take some shots. I consume about 5 shots of Bacardi vodka no chaser while waiting in this 10 minute period..and when we finally leave I am feeling pretty good probably pretty drunk already. We start driving to the club and a take some sips of a mixed drink vitamin water + some strawberry vodka and now its really kicking in.

We get to the parking lot and start walking to the club. I'm smashed. As soon as I get in, I follow my 2 friends for a bit because this is my first time and I figured they knew where they were going, and eventually I lost them within seconds. It was also extremely crowded. So I just head up to the floor and grind on some girls and this is the worst part, I don't think I saw one face and remembered it. All I can remember is blonde hair, and that's it.

After dancing a while I call my other 2 friends who drove up too and wondered where at in the club they were. Apparently they gave some homeless man 10$ because he convinced them he needed money real bad or something and as they got in like to go inside, the guy collecting money jacked it up 5 dollars making it 15$ to get in so they didn't have enough money to get in now! So when I called them they went back to the car and just drank there. After I heard this I decided I did my time in the club and I headed back out to meet with them and hangout with them.

I finally find the exit of this club and damn. I'm not smashed anymore, I have gotten beyond that. Probably just on the verge of blacking out. I start walking to the car but realized I had no idea where the car really was. So I called them again to meet me at a gas station since it was about halfway from the club to the car, a good meeting place I thought. Plus it had a lot of lights. I get in the general vicinity of it and call them again. I tell them I'm at the gas station and they say they are too, however, I just can't see them anywhere. At least i thought I couldn't till I looked right in front of me literally, and there they were.

This is when they tell me the story about how they gave some guy some money. I may have been between them with my arms around both their shoulders to help me walk? I am not sure but we proceed to the car.I don't remember how I got their I just remember seeing the gas station then sitting in the backseat of her car. While there another friend of ours is around and comes and hangs out with us. He used to work with us but he got fired, and he has some tequila. I take about another 2-3 shots of that...bad idea.

We sit in her car and talk and bullshit for a while until all of the sudden everybody who went originally with us is back in the car. Then we drove home. I also don't remember this part. I could not tell you who was the DD or anything. I just remember getting out of the car at my house, and walking in, then going into my room and laying on my bed.

*After I laid in my bed, I thought I had fallen asleep. this is when I completely blacked out. My mom had told me I went into the bathroom and was moving a lot of stuff for like 15 minutes. Making everything fall and just making a shit ton of noise at like 2-3am.

So I wake up this morning, at like 11am. I still had school...fuck. I get up and get ready real quick and head to school. I get there and its 6th period which is nice since I leave after 6th period everyday. I only had to endure 1 class and for 25 minutes. I sat down in class, I forgot all my supplies needed. Immediate after school detention. But that't not even the worst part. What was the worst was actually sitting there for the 25 minutes. I sat there and I just felt drunk still. Hell, I still feel it a bit writing this. Those 25 minutes dragged, and dragged. I just sat there listening to my classmates read out loud One Flew Over the Coo coos Nest.

Honestly though, I don't think I would have been able to read that book. I would have tried to read it and would have lost my place, or messed up the words, or something. So I guess it was a good thing. Then The bell finally rang and I leave school and head back home.

In the morning, I tried to recollect all my things before I left for school. Phone - check. Wallet - check. No cuts/bruises of that sort - check. Phone battery - No. So When I get home I go for looking for my battery again. I look everywhere in my room...under bed, on bed, random corners, nowhere. I asked my friend if it was in her car because the last time I remember seeing it was when I was texting/facebooking in her car. I then think of where all I went when I got home. Nothing, I blacked out, how would I know where I went. But then I remembered my mom telling me of how I did all that random shit in the bathroom and I went to check. And there it was, right beside the toilet...weird. And I out it in my phone and check to make sure I didn't completely lose all my dignity and I check my texts and such. Nothing too bad, Facebook was worse but still not awful. Worst part was realizing how fucked my phone is now. My inbox doesn't always show current texts since I have to navigate through all these folders to see it which is just a pain, and I can't sent regular texts. I now have to open a picture text and text in it and sent which is also a pain. And I don't even know if my phone sends/receives text due to me sending quite a few but not getting any returned and such.

New phone incoming.

So when everything is put together. I think I had a pretty good fuckin 18th birthday. But going to a club is something I will defineitly not do sober. I am usually a very shy person and would be so afraid to dance even with myself in a club like that. So the alcohol really made me not give a shit and just go from girl to girl, regardless if they rejected me or didn't. So cheers everyone ^_^

EDIT: Everyone who is condescending, and so on and so forth, I don't care too much. I was just giving out a write up to TL'ers for those who may have found this interesting and what not, which it seems some have. So why go out of your way when you already feel mature and make a post about it? Just seems like your wasting your time..

And I have further story updates....

The Black Outs

As I mentioned before, I don't remember getting home and that sort. Well apparently I blacked out around 1:30/2am apparently. Since the other 2 girls who did get in the club stayed until it closed and I didn't ever remember seeing them again since then. So after I blacked out, I had apparently done a few bad things obviously. The first of which, I just leaned our of the passenger window ( this is while we were still in the club parking lot with the guy who brought the Tequila) and started puking. It apparently was for a while. After all that, we get on the road and they told me we went to a McDonald's Drive thru. They told me that while we were pulling through the drive through, either after ordering to the window or something, I just opened the door and puked while the car was in full motion. I heard that and just laughed, but realized that that was me and felt like such a dick. And lastly on the final stretch home, I was singing a Celine Dion song verbatim. I don't even know her songs.......But that pretty much wraps up everything I didn't remember the first time writing.

And it is extremely scary to think I did all that....and don't remember a damn thing.

Cocaine Alcohol is a hell of drug substance.

Sounds retarded.
Drinking at 18, check.
School the next day, check. (High school, lol)
Saying cheers to everyone for breaking the law and then posting about it, check.

I always wanted the drinking age to be lowered to 18 when I was younger, and now that I'm older I look back and go. Oh, that's why it's 21.

Edit: Not saying I didn't drink prior to 21, but at least I was in college and only got trashed responsibly.

So you had an awesome birthday that you can't remember and your phone is destroyed as a result (and you missed school)?

::shrugs:: Rock on.

Glad you're alive

True that. Haha.

Not the way I'd spend my birthday, but at least you had fun...question mark?

I think drinking age 21 is pretty unreasonable. 16 for beer in Germany might be debatable too but 18 is definitely fine (I mean, you are allowed to do pretty much anything else by law...).

^ Alcohol culture in Europe is different than in the U.S.
It's one think to drink socially and have fun, and a different one to get smashed and then head out to a bar/club, do something stupid, then feel like shit the next day.

Then again, we've all done our fair share of stupid shit. Just one question. Why did you even bother going to class that late? I wouldn't have shown up and convinced one my parents to call in and say I was sick or something.

Ha, i wouldn't be doing 5 shots of anything in 5 minutes. You turned out pretty good, some of my black out nights were a total disaster. It's always fun to wake up going "what the fuck did i do" then spend the rest of the day finding out how you made a complete ass of yourself. Now i try to pace myself, happy 18th bro!

I remember when getting drunk looked like the coolest thing ever.
Then you grow up and wonder wtf you were thinking.
Then you just drink enough to feel it but avoid the smash effect.

Oh yeah some never grow up though xD

Sounds like a crazy night, must have been very lucky to get in while intoxicated. Most places will not do that with minors, due to their insurance and the fact they could lose their licenses for providing alcohol to a minor(even though you didn't get it there).

so, i am at this club last thursday and im feeling pretty good. some friends and i are dancing around having a great time. and then this drunk kid comes up to me and starts grinding on my leg. so, im like well this is interesting since i am a blonde dude and he keeps calling me his "girl," but i feel bad for the dude because he is all alone on the dance floor and he is saying its his birthday. but then, the little drunk fool, pukes a bit on my shoe, and so im pissed and want to beat the shit out of him. but he hands me his phone and says "put in your information baby and ill pay you back." so, im like fuck this little punk, and i jack up his phone so that it wont send text messages, but instead he has to send picture texts. (i doubt he'll ever be able to fix it.) he then asks me to go outside to makeout, and im like, its time this kid gets a beat down. so, we go outside, but he starts having this conversation with a homeless dude about how he met a hot blonde girl, but needs $10 to pay to clean her shoes. so, i decided, yeah, time to leave this kid, and i did. not sure what happened next.

i was going to write it all off as a bad experience, but then i saw this blog..... and.... shit.

Uhhh............. This is a good thing ? I'm 17 and when I hit 18 the only way im gonna actually have a possibility of drinking alcohol is at barcrafts (Going as soon as possible when I hit that age with a mate)

Not good to be drinking like that at that age, but whatever you think is right,

lol im not saying that OP made great choices, and in all honesty the story just sounds retarded, but drinking(even drinking A LOT) can be a really fun and social thing.

It is really fun and social.... before you black out T_T. If you don't, you have the time of your life pretty much.

so, i am at this club last thursday and im feeling pretty good. some friends and i are dancing around having a great time. and then this drunk kid comes up to me and starts grinding on my leg. so, im like well this is interesting since i am a blonde dude and he keeps calling me his "girl," but i feel bad for the dude because he is all alone on the dance floor and he is saying its his birthday. but then, the little drunk fool, pukes a bit on my shoe, and so im pissed and want to beat the shit out of him. but he hands me his phone and says "put in your information baby and ill pay you back." so, im like fuck this little punk, and i jack up his phone so that it wont send text messages, but instead he has to send picture texts. (i doubt he'll ever be able to fix it.) he then asks me to go outside to makeout, and im like, its time this kid gets a beat down. so, we go outside, but he starts having this conversation with a homeless dude about how he met a hot blonde girl, but needs $10 to pay to clean her shoes. so, i decided, yeah, time to leave this kid, and i did. not sure what happened next.

i was going to write it all off as a bad experience, but then i saw this blog..... and.... shit.

Well.....This just got awkward..

And I thought it was a good experience and definitely not drinking for a long time I can wait till 21. Yes, dumb choices and such but really...who actually comes up with good choices intoxicated..

If alcohol is the basis of your relationships with people, you need to seriously re-evaluate your life. Drinking is a good way to help relax with friends or spice up a meal - it is not a social event in itself. Drinking can be enjoyable, but it is just one element of the culinary experience, and shouldn't be held to a higher standard than something like BBQ cookouts or baking cookies.

Lol I like how nowhere in my post does it say anything close to "alcohol is the basis of my relationships with people" and you come up with that. Also drinking is a social event in itself, or at least a big part of a lot of social events.... ever been to a party? I also have no idea what you're talking about with the BBQ and cookies thing.

@OP Your birthday sounds pretty fun man. But I also wouldve skipped school completely, once you're 18 arent you technically considered your own legal guardian? At least thats the way it is in Ontario. I can also relate to you about how drinking makes you more social and less aware of your conseqences.

Well I've partied a lot and drank even more. Still I agree with the poster you quoted. I dislike partying for the sake of partying. Most people just get drunk because everybody does and so they have something to brag about / tell "cool" stories the next day. I can tell you a few hilarious stories from me partying, but I honestly can't remember a single story where I actually felt good while experiencing it.

Like last friday where after getting wasted on wine & weed I spent about 2 hours in the sub trying to get home (would be 15 mins if i was sober), exiting every odd station to throw up and wait 20 mins for the next train. Fell asleep in between so I at least (can't tell you with certainty) went the whole train line in each direction once before finally getting home. Next day consisted of throwing up and having headache.

You would say that's a pretty funny story, and i would agree, but it's only the story that is funny. Sitting on the station in the cold, having to throw up every few minutes was NOT fun. Being completely wrecked the whole next day wasn't either.
For me at least, partying is not fun. It's something you do from time to time because people expect it. And don't tell me to not get drunk, it makes it even more unbeareable.

Drinking with a few friends at home is fun. Clubs suck

I gave up doing stuff like this like 3 years ago when i blacked out while drinking at a party and A LOT of stuff that my friends to this day still don't want to tell me about happened <.<, so i rather just drink without getting drunk and dont embarrass myself again :D. It's a good tip my friend lol.

Also happy bday man .

I'm also not a big fan of the "club scene" i much prefer to drink with friends at home as well. I also have a ton of funny stories, but I can definitely remember feeling good at the time haha.

You can not like clubs, partying, or drinking at all thats perfectly fine, its not for everyone. But to claim that parties are a crutch for people who lack social interaction is just retarded.

To the OP: I know that not being of legal drinking age makes it seem like a good idea to drink as much as you can swallow before going out, to try to sustain a buzz. Your story, however, tells me a few things.

1) You don't know your limits with respect to alcohol and haven't yet learned to take into account the fact that the effect gets stronger over time as your body absorbs it.

2) You've told a story that has a few bad outcomes in it (including blacking out and memory loss, your mother noticing your drunken behavior, damaging your phone, and being a wreck at school the next day) yet you're minimizing them in your summary of the whole thing.

3) You seem pretty happy about the lack of social inhibition that you get while drinking.

I'm not going to tell you not to drink, but you should seriously consider taking things easier next time. If you're as drunk as you were going by this story, it's noticeable and it's not appealing to women you might run into in clubs. Furthermore, keep an eagle eye on #2, since if that continues over the long run it might be a sign of developing alcohol dependence.

(I should point out that my first experience with alcohol was completely off the hook, and I never took it to the same place again. However, it's doing that kind of thing repeatedly that starts to make it a problem.)

Idk, I was the kind who never drank more than like 1 drink at parties but clubs.. there's something awesome about getting drunk with friends and entering a club. The lights, the loud noises, the dancing, it all becomes kinda surreal from sensory overload. Like being in a crazy painting.
Obviously you need to not be so drunk that you don't remember it or else you can't enjoy it -.-;;

OP, I don't want to say anything negative but just know that your tone/writing style comes off as an attempted (immature) brag blog. I'm sure plenty of us went a bit over our limits the first time being drunk; we know how it feels. ^^
New experiences are always exciting, just be careful sharing them when they are both illegal and self destructive. Not that I'm judging you, my first time clubbing was also quite over the top. But looking back on it now, I would have
1. told less people about it (mind you, my experience was legal too) and
2. drank a bit less.

Sounds like you had a great time though.

The reason people drink heavily at clubs/parties is because they're actually miserable places. Too loud to carry on a conversation, full of people you probably would hate if you met them in your day to day life, and lots of shitty booze that tastes like crap.

But, if you don't remember that you can fill it in with good imaginary memories.

People do that stuff because they want to be accepted socially. I think it's really important OP knows that the kinds of people who find that behavior socially acceptable are also the ones who end up managing Denny's. If you really value looking like a total bro to the manager of Denny's by all means, continue. I won't stop you.

I just did this once for an experience. Definitely not an experience I want to repeat, and also one that I won't forget. I do realize how this comes off to be a complete brag post, and I do apologize I don't mean to be a complete elitist douche. But thanks people for the funny/helpful/criticizing posts and what not, I didn't expect much less. But thank you all anyway. I still look back on it to this day and regret some things, and even my friends told me what else I did considering I blacked out.... a lot that night. ^^

Doing stupid shit is perfectly fine, so long as you know it's stupid shit and don't have any intention to repeat it. Glad to hear you're not like some of the other posters here.

I didn't start getting wasted until I was 21. I'm almost 25 now. I remember 3 really horrible situations that involve alcohol.

#1: Getting whiskey dick with my EX girlfriend.

#2: Blacking out on a toilet in a club while going on a first date with a hot chick.

#3: Being too drunk to grind on this random chick in the club that gave me her lollipop she was sucking on. As I was grinding on her I kept falling on her because I was so fucked up. Eventually she got tired of me falling on her and she left. *FAIL*

Lesson Learned: Drink responsibly... your romantic life will thank you.

You gotta learn to pace yourself OP. Shots are great and all but 5 in 10 minutes is just stupid. You'll come to realize that if you want to have a fun night that you actually remember its better to go slow and steady.. Try pregaming at a friends over the course of an hour or two to space your drinks out a little more. Alcohol can make parties/clubs more fun to a point but it goes downhill really fast (like in your blackout case) where you get too sloppy and wasted to function.

Dude.. just different strokes for different folks man. What absurd generalizations. And insinuating there's something wrong with managing a respectable dining establishment. I'll have you know, my father.. is a professor but if he were a manager of a restaurant, I would be offended.

Also, remember that different countries have different cultures. I don't want to write up some lengthy post about drinking culture in korea but it's not like what you describe. You really need to.. chill?

Poor brain cells.

Don't knock it till you've tried it.

I don't know... From the stories, including this one, I don't feel too positive about it..

lol im not saying that OP made great choices, and in all honesty the story just sounds retarded, but drinking(even drinking A LOT) can be a really fun and social thing.

Parties are fucking stupid. They're a crutch for people who have no meaningful basis for social interaction.

sounds like someone was never invited to parties! lol but seriously, what a fucking ridiculous thing to say.

Of course I've been to parties. How else would I know how bad they are?

what a bunch of bull shit. People do that stuff because they find it fun. Seriously, get off your high horse. The guy i know that throws the best parties ever, now has received hundreds of thousands of dollars in investments for his start up company. He certainly isn't managing a Denny's any time soon.

Partying and clubbing isn't for everyone and thats fine. Do what you like. But damn dude, you couldn't be more wrong.

don't really get why people are being so condescending. yeah, he made a lot of dumb choices, but i'm sure almost everyone has done dumb things when they had too much to drink, especially when they were younger.

at least the OP is ok and will hopefully learn from this experience so that next time he paces himself.

I didn't drink when I was that age, or younger. Some of us are actually just mature and can learn from other peoples' dumb experiences.

I don't care what people do, honestly, but some things are just risky behavior that often ends up with someone inebriated and behind the wheel of a vehicle. I've had friends who've blacked out and done extraordinarily stupid shit. Hell, one almost raped a girl. I don't like seeing young people get sucked into a culture based around doing dumb shit and laughing about it the next day. Too many futures destroyed that way.

I always wanted the drinking age to be lowered to 18 when I was younger, and now that I'm older I look back and go. Oh, that's why it's 21.

Edit: Not saying I didn't drink prior to 21, but at least I was in college and only got trashed responsibly.

I guess having a good 18th birthday is easy over here. Manage to get drunk but everything else is awful, and that's still considered good.

sounds like someone was never invited to parties! lol but seriously, what a fucking ridiculous thing to say.
Drinking with a few friends at home is fun. Clubs suck

Idk, I was the kind who never drank more than like 1 drink at parties but clubs.. there's something awesome about getting drunk with friends and entering a club. The lights, the loud noises, the dancing, it all becomes kinda surreal from sensory overload. Like being in a crazy painting.
Obviously you need to not be so drunk that you don't remember it or else you can't enjoy it -.-;;

Dude.. just different strokes for different folks man.

You really need to.. chill?

OP is from US.

I've never done anything stupid due to alcohol use, FYI.

I mean, my location says US but the only times I ever go clubbing are in Korea. But that wasn't my point. My point was that different people enjoy different things. You shouldn't look down on him so much for how he chooses to enjoy his birthday. Good for you on not doing anything stupid; we can't all be that perfect. Try to act a little less stuck up.
It's not like you didn't drink when you were that age. (or younger)

The fact that you think people make 'dumb experiences' when drunk shows how clueless you are concerning this topic. I've been drunk plenty of times and had fun conversations with people I else would never have met, and dare I say attractive females. Did I create everlasting friendships? Actually I did, granted not on the regular and you shouldn't go out expecting it, but people don't do that anyway. Did I have a great time most of the time? Yes, I did.
Alcohol makes people social, but maybe that's the exact problem for you (see, I can make generalizations based off nothing too! So fun!)
Getting shitfaced every week is something, which should be avoided, but when you drink the first time...how can you not get completely wasted as you have no comparison to where you can handle and can't handle more. The timeframe is so short, I have never seen someone drinking for the first time and not overdoing it. Which is the OP's case, if I understood him right. The better that he doesn't get a kick out of it and stays off too much alcohol as it seems. Even more reason not to talk down to him, it sounds like he learned his lesson.

Also I'm confused on how much you replied in this thread claiming that you 'don't care what people do' and go on about how much you care about what people do when drunk. I'm also questioning your taste in friends, who rape girls when drunk. I don't know you, but it sounds like you have some issues yourself. And as a side note, who can drunkenly rape a girl? I always thought it would happen the other way 'round.
If you really care about the youth, you should learn on how to approach them in a way they actually care and listen. The way you're chosen right now not only drives them away, but also makes you look like a condescending dick to everyone else.

To OP:
I'm happy for you that you had quite an experience, but even more because you can put it into perspective and while yes, it does indeed come of as a little brag blog I'm the last person giving you shit for it. After all everyone of us was a teenager and tried to prove something to someone in one way or another. In fact some people are actually still trying (i.e. by acting overly mature, to be finally accepted as an adult *hint)

Well, at least you know when you go to parties next time you won't have to deal with condescending tools like EthereaLLegacy there. Your generalizations of parties and alcohol as a means for social acceptance is futile and ignorant. They are a place where you can have fun, meet people and form meaningful relationships. Does alcohol have to define your relationships? Of course not. Are parties the only way to have fun or socialize? No. But it is a great method for many of us.

Everybody is going to criticize regardless of what it is. Some people are just born to be elitists in their own way. I edited the OP to describe more of the night that I forgot...The Blacked out part.

Its like trying to solve a jigsaw puzzle after you get hammered. Each person remembers bits and pieces and when you fit everything together, the picture is complete! Sometimes though, you just cant find that missing piece lol.

After a lot of trial and error you eventually learn how much you can drink without making yourself silly. For me, after about 5-6 beers my brain starts telling me "Drink more!" and that's when I know to slow down. I think you really need to experience some horrible hangovers before you impose your own rules and limits around drinking.
