So without further adieu, I introduce KissWood
I was originally going to break this piece down into two different sections: story and artwork. However, the two compliment each other so well that it would be wrong to address each aspect separately. Fortunately, there's a single word that can wholly describe both. Beautiful.
I get the same chills reading this manhwa that I get from watching a Miyazaki film. There's something heartwarming about KissWood that makes the audience connect emotionally with the magical world presented in the manhwa and the characters in it.
Like most Miyazaki films, KissWood is a story of discovery. But that is where the similarities end. While Miyazaki's films are often about the coming-of-age for a young man or woman, the main protagonist in KissWood is an old man. Through this magical adventure, he discovers a side of him that he never knew about (or forgot about).
