Hey TL. Just hoping for a few pieces of advice concerning the often overlooked things when moving into your first apartment. I have lived in an apartment before, but I was added onto the lease, so everything was already there and set up. I'm moving tomorrow, and I just know there are a few things that I'm going to slap myself for forgetting about, so I thought I'd ask for advice.
To clarify what I'm looking for, everyone knows the big bits; couches, beds, chairs, etc as well as basic cooking utensils, flatware, silverware, glasses, etc. Little things that are really needed sometimes slip by, though, and that's what I'm looking for! What in your experience often gets forgotten in a move?
So, some pieces of advice I've already been told:
-First call on moving day should be to your utility companies and Cable/ISP company to set up your appointments, as well as fill out your change of address forms.
-Bring Bathroom Tissue
-Bring Aspirin
-Trashcans
-Bring extension cords
-Bring cleaning supplies-Broom/mop, bucket, pinesol, rags, ap cleaner, etc;a few things probably require a scrubbing
That's all I have, any more tips? What did you forget bringing/preparing during your move? Thanks for the advice TL peace.

-Select all your units.
Seriously though, I'm not actually sure, just load/unload the stuff and get essentials setup first eg. fridge

Moving in is easy.
Moving out on the other hand can be a nightmare.

Food and your computer also soap to shower with.

One thing you can do is, if you wanna really make sure:
For two days, write down everything you use in your house after you use it. (make exceptions for computer, etc, things that are too big to forget).

You can call to set up those things BEFORE you move, as long as the appointment is after your move date. Sometimes this is necessary (remembers moving and waiting two weeks for electricity to transfer over, someone literally had to come and flip a switch on a meter before they'd turn it on).
Also, remember to change/cancel your mail.

also remember to let your job know. Because when taxes come and they think your at old address it becomes annoying trying to track w2's down. Happen to me ;x

Make sure that you have all of your units in one control group. Multiple control groups would just complicate things.
Oh wait... you said a move, not A-move. Sorry about that.
For reals:
Definitely do a little food shopping. I usually do this on my way to my new place so that I can get it out of the way and so I don't have to leave the house and I can concentrate on unpacking and tidying up.

-shower curtain and rod
-fingernail clippers
-tweezers
Also call your utilities companies before the day you move so you can be sure they will have time for you that day.

Don't forget your toothpick or flosses, having food stuck is a nightmare

paint rooms before you move everything into it.
itll be much easier and itll give you a new vibe to the place.
you want to try and rearrange your furniture, nothing too similar to the way things were.
you want to feel like you're in a new place with new things to do and a new attitude.

Two things, both relating to lighting;
1. Spare lightbulbs, there is a good chance that atleast one has died, and you don't want to realise this when fumbling about in the dark on your first night.
2. Thick cloth with safety pins, this is in case there are any gaps in the curtains or the curtains don't block the light fully, as it will allow you to cover the gaps. This prevents you being woken up at 6am by sunlight. This can obviously be tested the day before.

I've been told to go buy a basic tool kit as well for small repairs and furniture assembly. What would be the ideal pieces?
I'm thinking a hammer, phillips head and flathead screwdriver, tape measure, level, pair of pliers, adjustable wrench and set of allen wrenches should do nicely, but I could be leaving something out.

An umbrella.
What happens if it starts raining for 5 days straight the day you move in and you're stuck inside due to all the potential wetness awaiting you outside? I bet you'll be wishing you brought an umbrella so that you could go outside.

Make sure spell caster units on a separate hotkey.
Also bring some lunch, your going to get hungry and going out to eat and such can burn a lot of move-in daylight.
