Low-Mid Diamond Terran here. Been playing since beta, was borderline masters as zerg but hit a huge brick wall which eventually caused me to switch to terran a few seasons ago. Then I just managed to hit another wall as terran at mid diamond. I've been on a big losing swing lately after doing pretty well at the end of last season. I feel like I've just been getting worse, not better. I feel like it may be an emotional issue, a kind of a negative feedback loop going inside my head where every game I lose I play worse the next game. After playing pretty consistently in diamond for the past year and really trying to get into masters, I'm probably going to be bumped down to plat this season. I'm going to post replays here as a sort of therapeutic measure. Even if no one responds it might help me just to type out what I've been losing to and what's going wrong. I'm losing to the same sort of thing over and over and don't really know what to do better or differently. Basically turtle protoss that doesn't die before the 15 minute mark, early zerg aggression, and zerg late game are places where I almost always lose.

Vs Protoss I use 1 rax expand into 3 rax /starport pressure every game to open.

Vs Zerg I use a quick CC into slightly delayed hellions as my standard open.

Protoss:

http://drop.sc/117977 - Cloud Kingdom - So I just can't beat turtle protoss that can defend drops. I don't really know what you're supposed to do. This game I tried to army trade and stop his 3rd and 4th but just couldn't do it. Not really sure what to do against protoss if I can't kill them in the first 15 minutes in general.

http://drop.sc/117982 - Shattered Temple - Once again I can't put a dent into his army, can't stop him from taking a third, and just get roflstomped. Pretty much the same thing as last time. Maybe the problem is just bad macro? Obviously my macro sucks, but I don't think my opponents are any better than me on the macro front.

http://drop.sc/117986 - Korhal Compound - Same old story against protoss. I try to keep them from taking a third but his army beats mine even before any colossus or storm! Just plain old immortal zealot sentry wrecks my face.

Zerg:

http://drop.sc/117973 - Antiga Shipyard - He roach ling bling busts me. I often lose to early zerg aggression in general. I have no idea if the build I was using could stop this even if I played perfectly. I didn't have siege mode fast enough though and didn't have my units in a decent defensive position so he just roflstomped me. This attack just feels so strong though. I even scout correctly and assume it's coming (sometimes I manage to not even get that far), but it still wasn't close. I've lost to this same exact push 3 times in the last few days, and this was actually the closest I came to holding it sadly.

http://drop.sc/117990 - Tal Darim - I really feel lost on bigger maps like this against zerg. My goal is to do alot of drops while taking extra bases. Unfortunately I just do everything too slowly. My initial hellions were kinda useless. I have alot of trouble taking a third and 4th and get them really slow. My drops eventually do damage but too little too late. My macro is bad.

It might just be that you have hit your own personal skill ceiling. If you hit the same area with zerg, and then with terran, it might be the case. If you feel as though you haven't, step away and take a break from the game for a bit. Play a different game to relieve your frustration, then start playing again.

Well I mean you've basically identified your problems in the OP already... You said that the things you lose to are turtle protosses and late game zergs, which means basically that your macro is bad when you go into these longer games.

Even in the descriptions of most of the replays you actually say "My macro is bad."

Forgive me for being really blunt but it's kind of obvious what you need to work on imo.

I read the title and thought: "Ten bucks hes Terran." Sure enough, don't be sad, it's not you, they just repeatedly nerf terran and buff the others.

I'm not really sure how to work on macro. I can play against the computer and macro more or less flawlessly, but in the real game there is too much stuff going on. I win TvT usually because I macro better than my opponent and it's easier to focus on it than the other matchups. So I guess I just really struggle with multi-tasking and I don't know how to improve that.

Set some macro goals that you can follow. Watch every game and make sure you reach those goals. Here are some macro goals you can work on:

1) Never get supply blocked
2) Constant SCV production from 0:00 game time to end game (or until 70+ at most / 3 base).
3) Keep your minerals and gas below 400 (make production facilities, Terrans always forget to add more production as they take more bases)

It might also be good to try and work in a macro cycle to your game.
1) Micro (stay active with army)
while microing...
2) Check supply/resources (build more shit if rich)
3) Check every base (CC/OC) (make scvs/drop mules)
4) Check military production facilities (make units)
5) Repeat

ALSO, STARE AT THE MINIMAP whenever you're not doing any of these.
You want to be prioritizing the macro aspects and think of micro as a "macro break".
Live your life.

I think he means a mental wall in his play rather than a skill ceiling--otherwise he would have recommended OP quit starcraft.

Maybe you have gotten to comfortable, same thing happened to me. I didn't give a fuck about new builds and all of that, I knew my 3 builds, and I didn't give a fuck, I was going to do them win or lose. Learn new builds! Read the huge walls of text, learn the builds of your opponents so you can have more effective scouting, just adapt to the way the game is played, learn 3 openers for each race! Oh and most importantly, HAVE FUN!!
The only way to attack structure is with chaos.

Clearly a skill ceiling exists. For example I will never be able to play at 9000apm, I don't know where my skill ceiling is, and I doubt I will ever reach it - but everyone is limited by their body and mind. You cannot improve infinitely.

That's just it. A skill ceiling "exists". However, no one in this thread will ever reach theirs. Very few souls in this world ever reach their true potential. Many, many people do get diminishing returns after a while.

People can and do improve throughout life(until their brains start to decline in function due to health/age).

OP:

One tip I like to use is very basic, yet effective. Watch your replays, and find the moment where you lose the supply lead. Whenever there is a change in the difference between the supply of both players, someone is making big mistakes. Pause the replay and think about why you just fell behind in supply. Not enough depots, SCV, fighting units, buildings? Maybe you got harassed and stopped making units. Maybe you engaged a battle and lost horribly. Bad positioning, upgrades, or micro? Think about how you can rectify these problems in future games.

You have a really bad attitude when it comes to playing this game and I hope the OP doesn't read your post.

You know, I had a friend that created an audio track for himself to help himself get out of silver league. It said something like "Don't get supply blocked, make units, make scv's, scout, expand, upgrade," and he would put it on a loop when he was playing.

IDK might be a decent idea if you want to work on your macro. But as to your point you said you don't really "know" how to work on your macro, since you can do it against the computer. The problem is that the computer is bad and you can just sit around on macromode doing nothing else. Find a decent practice partner and ask him to do a harass build and practice over and over against it until you don't get food blocked while deflecting his harass (cloaked banshee is good to practice against since I know it's pretty good in TvT from back when I was playing terran).

One does not simply play Terran, he must master the ways of the marines in all aspects of life..

I had some macro issues when in diamond as well. If you feel it's a macro issue that's holding you back, what helped me was playing on the Macro or Die maps with another person. The computer is too predictable and you fall into bad habits, but playing against an actual player really helps.

If you haven't heard of those maps and you're looking to better your macro you may want to check those out. It's a bit of a frustrating map though, if your macro slips it nukes your workers. It took me two or three games on that map with someone in Master's when i was a diamond playing plat players before i noticed my macro was getting better. If i recall correctly, once I hit game 5 on that map i successfully played a 25 minute game without getting nuked once, felt great and it was the first time I ever beat my buddy in 1v1.

What always works for me when I feel like I'm playing worse than I should or I'm not getting better, is just taking a break for a few days. Lets me come back fresh and without any of the negativity I have from being on big losing streaks. If it still seems bad after you take a break, you just gotta play through it. Good luck!

I think you are lacking two things. 1, as many have pointed out, is you need to improve your macro. The second is, the fact that you do the same opening over and over. Maybe thats not the best strategy for you?
I will not be poisoned by your bitterness
