After having a nice day of mostly wins, and just having fun finally knowing how to do mech at a probably silver level. I had the two worst games of my entire gaming career. I went against one person who lost and ran around building hatcheries for an hour and a half until I rage quit. The next game I got proxy raxed. Needless to say I was so angry I broke a chair, punched a hole in the wall, and almost broke the laptop I use to game. I either need to get the fuck outta bronze league or quit.

If losing makes you this angry you should have tried harder to kill those hatcheries in the first game. If you hunt around with an army it shouldnt take more than a few minutes to kill them all.
Don't worry about the proxy rax, it happens to everyone now and then.
I think you should just ignore the losses and the rank and just go and play again - don't take it too seriously and don't worry about winning or losing, just go for it

if all he had left was just hatcheries/drones building more just send a few groups of units all over the map. Probably will find and destroy everything within a matter of minutes.

Don't get so mad, people lose to cheese at higher levels too, no exception

If you think it's "needless" to say that that was your reaction, and you weren't using hyerbole, honestly you should talk to your dr or something, as that's not healthy. I apologise if that sounds as bad as I think it does, but that sentence really stood out to me.

Either way, I wish you luck in getting out of Bronze if you do continue,

Why'd you get so mad? Those types of games happen to everyone on the ladder - every day - even pros. If you watch any top level players stream - even the best of the best fall to cheese/proxy buildings or get outplayed by players lower than them on ladder. When I lose to proxies, I look at the replay to see what I could have scouted to know that it was coming and also where they put the proxy so if I get nervous or see something fishy, I know where to check first.

those proxy rax's never go away i mean it dose not matter what level your at i still face them in diamond >.<
if something like that happens go back and watch the reply most people put proxy rax's in the same place or around the same place and you just have to scout for it in each game. you should play the game because it's fun, when every time you lose you get so mad your breaking stuff i think you need too work on that because cheese only gets hard the higher you go up. i once lost 93 games in a row when i switched from Terran too zerg dropped me right back down too silver from diamond. i get mad i just take a break too cool off because everyone loses. glhf

Dont let such silly stuff get to you man. But maybe you should quit if you rage that hard...O_o

You must be young as you seem to have an abundance of "fake problems". These are problems that aren't really problems, but you've come to reguard them as major.

There are hundreds of thousands of peopled in our country right now who are out of work and struggling to scrap by day to day. Countless others who have huge debts and no way to pay them off. Children in the inner city are going hungry and many have no prospects for the future.

Meanwhile you're breaking shit because you can't win at Starcraft.

Here's some advice: play the game and enjoy it. Even the losses.

Don't play a game if you don't enjoy it.

Regardless of nostalgia for previous games, time spent on the current one or contacts made and held through it: In the end, it's just a game. You spent money on it to have fun in your spare time. It's not your job, nothing depends on it. If you're not having fun, if it makes you mad - then just stop playing.

King snake son ;o. Just use the advice that all of my friends give our bronze friends, dont even bother laddering atm, go play Macro or die untill you can make a max army i around 15-16 minutes. Once you can do that, you can seriously macro your way to the very least platinum. Losing at your level is frustrating cause it makes you feel like you are "bad". Just try a day or two of the custom map Macro or Die, get really comfortable with that, then you can simplify everything. But losing to a proxy rax is never going to go away, cheese is always the flavor of the month in every league.

If you let the guy build "hatcheries" for an hour and half then you deserve to be in bronze. If it was pylons, hmmm still unreasonable... You gotta have things around map like obs, ovies, scans nonstop, or even send a peon to each part of the map and keep them there as spotters. You have big holes in your game. Improve your map awareness first.

Haha, he made you leave by building random shit without actually having the chance for a comeback? I'm sorry but that is 1) hilarious and 2) probably classifies you as objectively unfit for competitive gaming. It takes like one air unit and five minutes of composure to end a game in that situation. Just wait till people hit you with some diamond-level cheese that they have been practicing for 300 hundred games while also flaming your entire family and harassing you post-game. Now that's real SC2.

my friend I just got proxy gated out of a tourney in the semi's, on xel naga caverns which isn't in the map pool of ANY tournaments nowadays but the z33k shiny daily haven't removed it, but you just gotta shrug it off and say oh well next time I'll be able to stop that because I did x,y,z wrong. Go and make a cup of tea, have a stretch, and most importantly play another game, if you stop playing after a really bad beat you'll stew on it, play more games and you'd be amazed how quickly you forget bad ones :-)

Broke a chair, punched a hole in the wall, and almost broke your laptop over a proxy rax....
Yeah you probably should quit SC2 if you are ending up destroying things over something dumb like that.

I have been in the same situation with zergs building hatches all over and protosses spamming pylons but it never took me and hour and a half to kill them....wtf.

What. The. Hell.

How does someone build hatches for 10 minutes, let alone an hour and a half?! Ignoring that he would just run out of money how hard is it to like put a marine at each expo, take any towers, and patrol a couple air units so you have complete map vision?

I really just don't understand how this situation could have ever happened......

If you lose to a guy building hatcheries around the map for a hour and a half, then you have other problems in your game; perhaps your decision making. Also, don't get angry. Try and treat each loss as a learning experience. To lose, essentially, is better than to win. When you lose, it means somewhere in the game, you did something wrong. Try and isolate this mistake and put it right for next time. Do this enough and you'll come out a better player.

Watch that.

While losing games tends to have a greater effect on me than winning as well, your rage is a little much, no? lol.

If your opponent is just hiding away extra buildings, just patrol marines/ marauders at every single base so he can't mine. Then work on patrolling up and down choke points and using vikings if his buildings can fly. Just macro up, scan and sensor tower the whole damn map, and it's impossible to lose or to take very long to find him. Hell, if you think about it, it's impossible for Terran to waste more than 20 minutes tracking down extra ground structures if you're approaching the situation with a clear head >.>

And hiding away structures doesn't go away in higher leagues, for the record. A win is a win, and players will take it any way they can. As frustrated as you are, it's legitimate. You gotta finish the game.

Dude ive read your previous blogs, and it seems that every time you lose a single game, or 2 games in a row you go on some crazy ragefest and want to quit the game. Starcraft is a game of losing. Everyone loses quite often, and its completely normal. Stop going into supreme rage over something soo trivial.

Yep, perhaps you should take a break from this game, either indefinitely, or until you develop the emotional maturity to deal with losing in a video game.

Probably indefinitely.

Seriously, if you can't deal with stupid stuff like hidden hatcheries or proxy rax at a bronze level, how do you expect to deal with it when it's much better executed at the gold/plat/diamond level?

Don't play then. I approach this game as a challenge, not as a relaxation tool or something to occupy my time (it does the latter however.)

The thing is, you're in bronze, meaning you have no mechanical skill whatsoever.

One cannot begin to play the MENTAL game of Starcraft until you are on the GSL stage.

Up until then, you are in a battle of who can click better.

I once lost $120 all-in with three of a kind Q vs high card K on the flop, to a backdoor flush. Chance of losing was 5%.

Once that happened I never felt bad after a bad game of SC. :D

I just hit masters about 3 weeks ago. It took me almost a year. There were numerous times where I wanted to quit. Times when I said to myself that I suck at this game and I will never get better. Times when I was so angry the rest of my day would be a slump of depression.

Yet I still hit masters. I would say the main reason why I got to my goal was the passion I had for the game. Every time I watched an event or a stream I felt involved and I felt a really good sensation. Then I go play the game and that sensation translates into the game.

I suggest that you find something that motivates you and train yourself to use it subliminally.

Also when you get angry, tell yourself that at the end of the day a loss or two, or even 10 losses in a row (trust me those suck) isn't going to kill you. Everyone has to lose at some point in time. Remember that Blizzard is trying to make you lose.

Lol shut up. There have been so many psychological studies done that shows that people normalize their psychological happiness to different centers according to their circumstance. I.E. he may actually be genuinely as physically unhappy (i.e. the same chemicals present in his brain) as someone who is struggling to pay off a debt. There have been so many studies that have shown once your basic needs are met your happiness doesn't really scale with wealth from there.

That being said it does sound like you should work on your anger too. I get super angry and frustrated at Starcraft too sometimes. It's a natural response to caring about something. However I've never actually physically broken anything over a game. (I have punched my desk though).

People need to realize that they aren't gonna win every game, no1 does.
If ur not in GM or top 8 masters u should be happy with a 50% winrate, cuz that means ur playing at the right level for u.

Also what are u getting mad at?
That pesky opponent for cheesing you and 'oh cmon why do they allways cheese me' amirite?
Urself for losing a game in bronze league? Guess what, no1 actually cares except for urself, ur only gonna get promoted if u keep ur cool and play to improve.

Off course, every1 gets annoyed sometimes when they are on a losing streak or lose a silly game, if you feel ur getting annoyed just go take a break, do some pushups (works well), get a drink, go run outside I dunno.

next time shit like the hatchery hiding starts to happen, just start building air units and have them patrol the map. Other than that, just play some custom 1v1's to try and get better, and don't worry about rank, focus one a specific thing ie - constant harvester production, then once you have that ingrained in you, never getting supply blocked and so on.

That being said it does sound like you should work on your anger too. I get super angry and frustrated at Starcraft too sometimes. It's a natural response to caring about something. However I've never actually physically broken anything over a game. (I have punched my desk though).

Yes, how could I be so foolish. Clearly living out of a car = losing in SC2.

This guy needs some perspective in life (as do we all sometimes), there's no reason to be breaking stuff (especially expensive stuff) because he's losing in SC2.
I like the way the walls go out. Gives you an open feeling. Firefly's a good design. People don't appreciate the substance of things. Objects in space. People miss out on what's solid.

The toast is telling him to put things into perspective which is a pretty good advice also OP is probably very very young, like 12 or 13 years old, and at this age, sometimes what seems futile is a matter of the utmost importance
If OP still around: you should try to understand why losing makes you angry (no, it's not the proxy rax).

On topic though, if you can't accept losing, you really should go play an rpg or something. Rts games are only really fit for people who can accept defeat and want to be better. It's pretty simple. If you actually think you can play pvp (player, not protoss) without ever losing, you're a fool

The guy agreed with half your post, the part about breaking stuff, and you're still sarcastically hunting straw men =(

For someone who's not already in masters, you (OP) take the game way too seriously. I'd look up gheed's blog or some funday mondays to get your mind right. And in the most backwards way, you'll probably end up improving at the game just through more playtime despite not trying anywhere near as serious.

I know what you are feeling. I barely won a PvZ and the guy spent 45 minutes building hatches everywhere and I patrolled warp prisms, left zealots at minerallines, and still almost lost.
Your current situation requires more patience than most people are capable of if they are competitive and not incredibly good mannered (not saying you aren't )

How can this happen? I dont understand... Hatches take forever to build, cost a lot of minerals and doesnt even attack, how can you almost lost to that?

not bragging or anything, but bronze is pretty easy to break out of, all you really need is decent macro

I suggest you go play some 4v4's to just practice macroing under pressure (since bronze 1v1 people are too passive) and once you're comfortable go back to 1v1 (that's what I did)

also this removes the need to worry about matchups and strategy and scouting etc so you can just practice the basics without all these other strain which makes it more difficult

If you're raging this hard, I'd suggest you don't play, or go play team games with friends while you get a better handle of the basics of the game.

I can understand being angry at yourself/the game, but what you described is a good sign you shouldn't be playing...

Seriously get some anger management or something, even the best players in the world fucking lose, that's how GAMES work. Really if you gave two shits about getting better at this game at all, you would look up a real build, and be out of bronze in less than a week. I have absolutely no sympathy for you, you are just being a lazy ignorant asshat.

Get a friend play 2 or 4v4s.

Also just macro. Spent 1 day and just figure out all the hot keys and how to macro up. Forget anything else. Mediocre macro is the basis of cutting down 3/4s of what can kill you.

I'd offer to help you get out of bronze league, but I'm afraid you'll get pissed, reach through the internet and snap my neck

You're confusing bronze with gold

To get out of bronze all you need to know is how to build attacking units that properly counter the opponent. Also it helps to know the game doesn't have an inbuilt NR20 rule in it. Most bronze league players simply do NOT attack at all..ever...

Seriously...that's it.

Just keep playing if you enjoy it, but if losses are too hard for you then don't feel as though you must continue.

I used to get angry, hell, I still do, when I lose games, but nowadays, I just turn on some music and play because I want to.
Why, just yesterday, I got 4Starport Cloaked Banshee-"rushed", and you know what I did? Starting making those Void Rays, and went on to win.

When I starting play. I very disappointing and very sad after my lose. If you want to make one goal to win. you must lose. You can't win all games. We are people, you make mistake. You are not computer. And if you understand your mistake, when you lose you can make analysis game and continue to play and try to fix it and it's no problem. More GG, More Skill.

How about, instead of breaking stuff when you lose a game, you try this instead.

1. Look at the replay of the game and determine why you lost.

2. Through the replay, determine how you can win next time you are faced with a similar situation. If you don't know the answer, view other people's replays or search strategies or even post something in this forum asking in a constructive way how'd you go about improving your gameplay.

3. Admit that you may have made a few mistakes. Forgive yourself, learn from it and don't repeat it.

4. Hope you get matched with the same person again and show them who's boss! Or show everyone who's boss. If you lose, start at point 1 again.

:D

If your bronze after 40 wins then your doing something wrong, it has nothing to do with your opponents. Try and get a plat or diamond to help you with your game but remember to be open minded..

If you want as a diamond protoss i could play with you in some 1v1s.

I got placed in bronze and after a month of little gaming but a good amount of watching (GSL) i got to plat. Just understanding the game can get you out of the bronze silver gold area.
