Part IV - I am just bad at this game
Hey again guys, this weeks blog will be relatively short because I didn't really accomplish much, and I didn't really play enough. Additionally, to my shock my smurf got demoted this season to plat, so I grinded Friday and Saturday to get back to diamond. (yay ) This week coming up however, im going to a curling tournament where I should have a bit of down time to try and beat this fucking game.
Here is Part III is you missed it http://www.teamliquid.net/blogs/viewblog.php?id=307916
This is my brain on derp mode
See that image above. See that boulder blocking that cave? Yeah? WELL FUCK THAT. God damn. I went to the third town happy about my newfound hammer. Go jump up get my downward thrust (best addition to combat in this game!). Then I talk to the old women who will give me the spell for this town looking for water.
Well I probably went to every town and talked to every person looking for hints 4 times. Literally. Then I walked around the edge of the map looking for secrets. This lasted probably about 2 hours at the beginning of the week. Before I got frustrated and didn't play again for 4 days. This frustration led to my lack of accomplishments. Anyways to the point, the magic potion to get the fairy spell I needed to get to the third castle was in this cave, behidn this boulder, in the wide open. That I passed probably 30 times looking for it. And I didnt enter it cause my brain convinced me that I already went in that cave to explore. FUCK MY LIFE.
Additionally, I found the underground tunnel to the 3rd stage and tried downward jump bouncing off enemies and wall jumping and ducking with the jump spell to try and get up to the high part. Then I looked in the handy manual and read about the fairy spell knowing it must be that.
Really Nintendo? A spell that makes me a fucking fairy. This game is filled with 1 time useful spells /items. Could you even imagine having the ability to transform in a recent Legend of Zelda Game, I mean how stupid would that be.... Oh wait twilight princess...
So anyways I go through palace 3 without much difficulty. Get all the keys get to the boss realize I didn't find the item so go searching. Pretty simple dungeon, that is except the asshole blue darknut that throws swords. Where is he getting all these swords to throw and why is he such an asshole. I can't answer those questions. Well how do you kill him? Can't answer that either. I got gameovers from this motherfucker 3 times. FUCK.
So I decide I suck at combat and just need to get stronger. I figure out that if I leave the palace and come back and slash the statue I can fight the same red knight and get 100 xp and sometimes I get full magic to heal myself. Perfect levelling situation. So after killing 52 of these fuckers 45 minutes later I have a level up on attack and life. Nice. That was so boring. So I go kill him by holding down and spamming attack get my raft. Kill the boss YIPEE.
Thank god my downward thrust hurts this fucker
RANT -> Fuck those flying fucking eyeballs in the graveyard. 1. They take away xp. 2. They travel in 10s like motherfuckers. 3. There unpredictable, and jsut flail in the wind and always hit you. FUCK. I really hope I dont see these guys in the rest of the game or I will be really pissed off. /RANT
Doesn't this guy just look like a bastard?
^^Man in game picture for this game are hard to find. Probably cause noone has the balls to play it. Jeese.
To end this segment off, I have come to terms that I am just terrible at the combat in this game. Im at palace three with the following levels, attack 6 , magic 6, life 7. Im almost maxed already. What will I do when I cannot just level to make my life easier!? Only time will tell. See you guys next week and thanks for following and readin .
Overall Progress: Legend of Zelda - 10 Hours (Completed) Legend of Zelda 2: Adventure of Link - 9 Hours (3 Palaces)
Coming up next: Hopefully I beat this fucking game tell you about it, and then move on to the best zelda game there is! A link to the past for snes. Looking forward to it!

By the way, your damage doubles every 2 attack upgrades so there is still quite a lot of power to gain. But still, you aren't supposed to have more than like attack 4 in the third palace so you will probably need to get a lot better in order to complete the game.
Also you can use the fairy spell to move through locked doors without using keys and it will be needed later as well. Note however that if you have a key it will still get used, so only fairy through doors when you are out of keys. The gimmick spells are spell and thunder, basically never use them except for when you have to.

Love this series. Thanks for continuing it ^^

the blue dudes are pretty much going to be your biggest threat until the final palace. Keep trucking on and try to avoid graveyards because those flying eyeballs really are assholes
I finished LA and liked it. Going to take a little break for some real life stuff before starting OoT

Awesome! Maybe I should actually play Zelda II sometime to know your rage, shit sounds frustrating. At least LttP is next, you should have no problem finishing that quickly. I still have fond memories of LttP, was the first Zelda game I actually remember playing.

Can't believe I never found this blog earlier. I personally don't like LoZ games, but reading about playthroughs of retro games is always fun. 5/5

Keep this up, I enjoy reading it.

you gotta get better at combat or you will get owned later The textbook way of killing that 3rd boss is using jumpspell and downward thrust on his head when he charges you iirc

I am enjoying these blogs, having played many of the Zelda games myself (not yet all).

Re: Utilizing downward thrust effectively to kill knights/darknuts/anything with a shield for the most part -- + Show Spoiler +only read this if you want to no longer fuel the humor of your blog entries with frustration + Show Spoiler +Most shield weilders are dumb and lower their shields when you perform a low hit (or maybe more accurately, when you threaten a low hit). Although this also works without downward thrust, it has seemed to me to be more effective once downward thrust has been acquired. In any event, the technique to score hits almost consistently is to simply jump toward the knight, press down, and then as your feet come in range with the knights head, attack. The knight should have lowered his shield at this point and you will get the hit. Later on there will be enemies whose shield blocking is a bit smarter, but the same techinque still generally works pretty well.

on many of the normal enemies you can bounce on their heads with downward thrust so you get multiple hits aswell

The method I state tricks the knight into lowering his shield at the last minute to score the hit.
