Hello everyone!
I only have a little bit of time, but I felt I owed it to everyone to post how I've done and what has happened in the last month.
To start with, I've been quite sick for 3 or so weeks of this month. Was diagnosed with a bad sinus infection and ended up on a lot of medication including hydrocodone, which is some really strong stuff.
I've started up going to the gym and have went at least once a week, despite being sick. I started going to the gym at around 3:00 PM and just working out for a while then. Recently I've changed my gym time to 8:00 AM in the hopes that I'll enjoy getting up early for a workout and then I can just work (stream) the rest of the day afterwords. (Been some of the coldest days of the year for me to start going out at 7:30 AM!)
Well, thats a bunch of whats been going on with me. Since starting this diet I've went from being 100% on it, to 100% off it, on certain days. At the end I've done 3-4 days of being on it and 1-2 days of being off. (Milkshakes on those days for instance). However I geuss the important part is that I've still managed to lose 5 pounds over this month. I'm down from 315 pnds to 310 as of weighing myself this afternoon. I feel like my legs are stronger and that I have a much better cardio as well sence this.
So I geuss my point is, that even if you have times when you fall off your diet, if you just try your best you can lose weight none-the-less. Let me know how you've been doing in this one month time! And I'll keep working on it, and being not sick in this upcoming month is going to be exciting. Hopefully I'll be able to keep on the diet much more this month. Well, thats my update, and I'm happy to have started this. Hopefully to those of you who have as well, its been going well for you too!

Keep at it, Sheth! I did the same thing a few years ago and dropped about 80 pounds and I feel so much healthier. It's hard, but it's worth it in the end.

I hope you know how inspiring you are man.
|
Good job Sheth. Rooting for you!
|
Yay Sheth! <3
GL and good health in the future, Manner Bear.
|
Good luck with continuing it!

I have to wake up before school to workout at 6:00 AM 3 times a week for football so I know how you feel about the morning cold. This is inspiring stuff though, I can't wait for a "final update" when you accomplish your goal, apply the same work effort and passion you have to SC2 to this and you will be able to accomplish this no problem. One thing though, the lost 5 pounds may have just been due to water weight etc. One thing my brother taught me is to weight yourself after pooping (assuming you urinate at the same time) as you will be able to weight yourself in the same situation each time and track you progress in a better way.
|
Yay Sheth Keep it up

Awesome!! by the way I don't want advertise something here but what really can help for small exercise and a reminder and measurement of you weight and progress, you could use Wii fit. I've been playing the games trying to break my family's records. They are very small exercises but its fun and it starts to add up after a while (if you combine it with real exercise of course).
|
I've started mine as of New Year's Day. This first week has been agonising, but I am inspired and driven. Something clicked in my brain over Christmas. A lot of my unhappiness stems from the way I feel about myself, being overweight. I already feel more in control (no pun intended) and driven than I have in a long time. Haven't weighed in yet, but thanks Sheth and congrats. Keepin goin' big feller, we'll get there one day.
|
grats sheth! you are the man. keep on workin and be patient. good luck in the future with everything

Fighting!! good work so far, keep it up.

I hope you're feeling better and grats!
Started a weight loss competition among some friends so I've been pretty motivated to eat better and workout more.
|
Keep it up brother. I am trying to fit a gym membership into my time and budget right now in fact. I miss working out some, but life happens and things fall by the wayside. Keep up the good work and keep tearing up for the swarm!
|
Congrats on the good work, Sheth, we want you healthy and active (to play more games, of course) for years to come!
|
Good work Sheth! Both of us seem to be sticking to things (I, like you did slip up a few times but have mainly been keeping on track). I've only lost 2 pounds in the last month (stupid Christmas baking!!!) but I think I have gained some muscle (I've been lifting weights). Remember, Rome wasn't built in a day, it will be slow but totally worth it when you are done. I've gone from 215 to 191 since August and I feel much better and that's only 24 pounds. I still have 16 to go, plus some muscle to build. It'll definitely be worth it.
|
Yay Sheth You're doing AMAZING despite being sick! keep it up buddy
|
Sheth, keep it up! Even though I'm sure most of us are always looking forward to your informative stream, try to stream only when your body can take it. Sheth FIGHTINGGG!

Good to hear Sheth. HWAITINGGGGG!!!!

Maybe you mention this on your other blog entry so if so I appologize but I seemed to miss it. What diet are you doing and what made you decide on this diet?

That's a little over a pound a week, on average. That's a reasonable pace from what I've heard. Good luck and keep us in the loop.
The social aspect of weight loss is probably the most important factor in determining success for many people.
|
Keep it up Sheth!
If you go to the gym, don't get surprise if you don't lose weight on one week. If you gain muscle, it weights more than pure fat. So it's still good if you ''transform'' fat into muscle.
Good luck in your training!! I hope I will have time to do this as well this winter
|
keep it up sheth, just think about your posture and keeping ur core tight and upright, core work and cardio will be the beginning of the transformation. Make sure your abs and core are tight during everything you do, especially if ur doing other workouts. It will help, High protein to carb ratio always is a benefit as well. Hope you feel better from the infection as well bud
|
Feel better Sheth! And great work, just need to keep motivated. ^^
|
I'm impressed Sheth! Just stick with it and you're gonna look great and feel amazing! (not that you aren't one handsome man already!) Can't wait for you to get in the zone in streaming again!! ^_^

Hey good work! 5 lb - not too bad! I've been making myself healthier lately too. I've been at it for almost 8 months now, and have lost 55 lbs! Once you get into a healthy mindset and a healthy routine, it's actually really easy. Think of it like this: if you live like a healthy person, eventually you will be a healthy person! That said, Christmas was a very troubling time for me in regards to healthy eating .
Of course I'd give you the same advice I'd give anyone: To lose weight, what you eat and how much you eat are way more important than how often or how hard you work out (though working out is still beneficial, of course). Check out the TLHF sub-forum if you haven't already!
Good work and good luck!

So awesome that you are honest about falling off your diet! I think it will help alot of people to see that it's ok to not be able to do 100% all the time but that you still don't have to give up!
Good work going to gym and keeping it up even tho you have been so ill.
Good luck and keep up the good work! <3
|
Keep it up and congrats so far. The world needs someone as awesome as you for as long as possible and working on being healthy is one way to hopefully help with that. Hope the sickness stays away too!
|
Go go Sheth! This is totes awesome man good for you!
Keep up with the work outs and eventually you'll love both the during and after burn. It feels great and really helps build confidence imo.
Good luck and stay the course bromeo!

Hey Sheth! Firstly, congrats on losing the 5 pounds and secondly sorry to hear that you were sick.
Once you are feeling better i am sure that you can lose even more weight and become even more dedicated to your diet. I think a very big part of losing weight and changing your lifestyle is setting goals. Short, medium and long term goals to help you step through the process and keep on track.
If you aren't accountable to anything then you won't be as diligent as you can! I feel that once you start seeing more and more results, you will be more and more determined! Best of luck
|
Fighting Sheth ~ you are so successful at what you do, no doubt you'll succeed here too :>
|
Hey man, you gotta start somewhere. Keep that motivation up and you'll be dropping way more!
|
good work sheth, keep it up <3

GJ and keep up what you are doing!
p.s. have you checked out the TLHF thread?have you checked out the TLHF thread?

Awesome to hear that you are really trying hard to get in shape. Keep it up and dont stop going/eating healthy! I bet in 2 weeks from now, you will notice a big difference!
What's your workout?
|
Thats awesome! Keep it up and in a year you'll be down 60 lbs. Slow n steady wins the race! XD
|
Congrats on the 5 pounds, but stay focused, remember your goals. Can't wait to get some more updates from you in the future!
|
|
1. Sorry, but five pounds can be attributed to water weight or day-to-day fluctuations when you're dealing with 300+ lbs 2. Drop cardio and just weight-lift by benching, squatting, and deadlifting. You're not going to lose any significant weight with cardio, whereas weight-lifting will drastically destroy calories faster per minute than running will. 3. Diet is huge. At least start out by cutting soda, alcohol, or other sugary drinks like milkshakes. 4. Check out this girl's progress with just weight-lifting (and no cardio) in just 6 months.
|
^ i don't want to advocate compound lifting too much outside of a few threads under TLHF (comes off as pushy), but yea, that's some serious results
it's actually surprisingly easy to achieve similar results with a good program and a decent diet
|
keep up the great work!!!
|
Go Sheth. I wonder if you'll be like the Ret and transform yourself into an even sexier man then now :D. Awesome to see you wanting to work on it I can only imagine how hard it is to motivate yourself to actually do it (let alone wake up at 7:30 am xD)
|
Hm, I'm not a health expert or anything, but I've heard going on diets isn't that good unless it's a change that you keep forever and that you just gain it back when you get off it. I think going with small, maintainable changes might be for the best. Good luck though, if you can keep this up for a few months it'll just become like a habit and you'll be set.
|
Nice stuff Sheth Keep it up!
|
Great job Sheth, keep up the good work :D

Keep it up sheth, congrats on seeing results already!

<3 Sheth
Good luck!

I think the 5 pound thing is a trap you need to be aware of more than something to congratulate yourself for. I know I do it so many times. I start to eat good for a week and start to feel like I have accomplished something and reward myself when the truth is I have barely even begun
|
Awesome work Sheth! Keep it up, man. It'll take some work and discipline, but I am sure it'll be for the best c: Don't overwork yourself and make sure you find some way to enjoy yourself while you work out c: c: c:
|
Well done, Sheth! Stick to your convictions!
I'm going to join you. I went from 265 to 195 about 5 years ago. Then you get lazy, and I'm back up to 240. Back then my inspiration was a bunch of assholes at school. With a nice girlfriend, and a decent job, I'm relying on you to be my inspiration this time!
Sheth fighting! (regretting eating fish and chips for lunch yesterday, thanks!)

Just stay in it. Even though you fall of once in a while, hard work and effort will cause you to lose weight and get healthier. And remember, once you hit the "I can't lose anymore weight because muscles are heavier than fat"-wall, excercise will still make you healthier...
Sheth FIGHTING!!!!
|
dropping 5lb in a month is pretty damn good.
Also, morning gym = awesome. Keep working man!
|
Good job Sheth
You should rest instead of working out when you are sick. Don't worry about missing work outs, the most important part about losing weight is your diet anyway ^^ GLHF!
|
Nice man keep it up! If you really stick to it you'll see the weight drop quite fast. I have a buddy at work who is really trying to lose weight as well and he lost 19 pounds in 2 months!
I'm starting a 60 day program (Insanity by Shaun T) and I'm hoping to lose about 10 pounds or so. I'll let you know how it goes!

I hope you keep writing updates, even if you fall off track for a bit. The comments might help you stay on track!

Nice. 5 pounds sounds great. Keep at it and once you are fully recovered the effects of your diet and work out will kick in even harder.

I'm down from 315 pnds to 310 as of weighing myself this afternoon. That could be entirely water weight. I have about a 5-10 pound variance in even my weight (which is very light).
I think would what would help you is to set more specific goals. "Losing weight" is too general. "Losing 20 pounds" or whatever might be too abstract. You say you go to the gym and exercise for "awhile" and I think this is the problem. "Awhile" or "as long as I can" often results in poor performance. Set a difficult, possible goal, and do your very best to get it. If you get it, then make it harder. "I will run on the treadmill for 30 minutes" or something like that. Educate yourself enough so that you have some empirical numbers about what a sedentary lifestyle is defined as, and what an active one is.
I made a post in your last thread about motivation, and this is from the same textbook. Losing weight and working out is an uninteresting task. You have to use numbers to give yourself a concrete idea of what you actually want to do, and then not worry about the day to day result as long as you are fulfilling goals like "run on treadmill for 30 minutes" or whatever.

This is good advice the only thing I would suggest differently is actually taking measurements of areas you wish to work on and are important for your health.
Weight will vary as you say but toning muscle (which is heavier than fat and can lead the the person working out thinking they arent doing enough) will adjust measurements noticeably. Rather than small weight goals I would go for small measurement goals. Such as: I want to lose 2 inches off my belly in the next X number of weeks/months etc
Weight goals over all are fine, such as wanting to lose a total of 50 pounds and keep it off. However for smaller goals I find measurements much more rewarding, less variable, and easier to feel like youve done something about your health in the short term while pushing on to that long term goal of being 50 pounds lighter.

GL Sheth keep up the work GL in your journey to lesser weight =)

This is actually great advice, for me my first short term goal was to fit into shirts I wore 5 years ago. While I didn't lose a lot of weight (only about 5 or 10 pounds because I was building a lot more muscle) I accomplished that goal and it was the greatest feeling in my life.
GL sheth, reading about one of my favorite players losing weight has given me the inspiration to continue with my progress, so I hope cheering you on returns the favor in some small way
