Hey so i recently got out of the hospital but i'm stuck with a picc in me for at the very least 42 days. According to the nurses/doctors no one is going to hire me with it in me and its not suggested because i have to recover. However i need money
Anyone know alternatives of making money given my situation?
** I don't have a job also because i just moved to NYC on the 10th and i got admitted to the hospital on the 17th so i didnt get a chance yet to even apply because i fell gravely ill.
Link to my blog which gives more information on why i was in the hospital http://www.teamliquid.net/blogs/viewblog.php?id=300458
I just wanted to know if anyone has been in this situation and what did they do for money

If you have absolutely no other options, you could try amazon mturk. You'll make paltry sums of money, but it's better than nothing.
It would be easier to help you if you told us what sort of skills you have. Also, you are luckily to be hospitalized in the era of laptop computers. I was in the hospital for 2 weeks when I was a kid (spent 1 in a coma though) and just had to sit there all day eating grape popsicles.

Thanks Fontong
Other than being Security Unarmed Guard Qualified. I really don't have many skills. I'm trying to go to college but i'm having trouble atm
edit - yeah i am lucky all i did was watch one piece when the hospital internet let me and try my hardest to practice sc2 vs the computers LOL
you were lucky though to be born in the era of grape popsicles. They gave me terrible icecream in the hospital.
Thanks again

What exactly is a 'picc'?

It stands for peripherally inserted central catheter it basically is the alternative when you either run out of veins to use in the hospital or you need antibiotics or some medicine inserted through your veins for long long periods of time.
Its inserted through your vein into your body through your arm to get near your heart and uses one of the big veins.
It can last inside your body anywhere from weeks to a year without being changed and makes giving blood, taking antibiotics and other things so much easier instead of always having to find a fresh vein to draw blood from or w/e.

Have you tried applying for social security disability? I would think that surely you qualify. Maybe your state has disability programs too? If you are a dependent, that may affect what componsation you get but I'm no expert. Your situation is exactly the reason these programs were created. Worth looking into IMO.

Ok thanks TheToast i really appreciate it and i'm surprised i haven't thought of it.
I'll look into it

PICC lines don't leave people disabled. Unless your line of work involves being almost naked, the vast majority of time it is not even visible with normal clothing on. I can think of many entry-level jobs where I don't think anyone would give a crap about the fact that you need to take IV antibiotics at home. I think it's more about whether you feel up for working while recovering from your recent hospitalization.

Just had a look at this site. Wow. Just wow. Some people are actually paying 1 cent for an hour of work? I'm pretty sure that violates the dignity of man. If you need money quickly you could go to a pawn shop. This will at least help you not starving. If you're trying to go to college I'm asssuming you have a decent education, so you might try tutoring. That can be quite profitable. Good luck.

Why would u not be able to be a security guard? im a security guard with a major company and they dont do any health checks. The graveyard guard (65 years old) at my site just got out of the hospital after literally almost dying. he is back to work the next week....

Haha you must have taken a reallll quick look, one which didn't actually involve reading.

Ouch... that sounds rather painful/inconvenient. Why did you move to NYC in the first place? Cost of living here is pretty ridiculous...

try buying bulk quantities of stuff and reselling them on ebay (risky):
or selling whatever u already have on ebay
or invest in the stock market (risky)
or sell on of ur kidneys on the black market. (JK)
or u could apply for unemployment benefits (you get a weekly paycheck, but I'm not sure if you'll qualify. You can do additional research)

When ur good with sc2 scene, you can bet on games. i made already some money with the HSC today..
But remember. gambling to escape a "crisis" is not often a good idea.

Ok thanks everyone again for the suggestions.
@quiong - According to nurses/doctors because its connected to one of the big veins near my heart vein its a health harzard for my line being pulled/snagged somewhere. Also it disables my arm i can't lift or have more than 5-10 pounds on my arm or lifted. If any job accepts me with this any accidents is ON THEM. which is why they said no job would accept me in my current condition . =/
Believe me though hopefully i can find a job.
