So it was sadly our last day in Korea, after two amazing weeks. We definitely weren’t looking forward to it but we had to leave. We decided to choose our favorite places and go back for our last meals. In the morning the Spicy Bulgogi and Dumplings, and in the evening Shabu Shabu and “some” sweets from the amazing Paris Baguette.
The dumplings were as good as always, and the guys there were incredibly nice to us, they told us we should definitely come back and see other parts of Korea, and we got our dumplings for free as a goodbye gift ^^ . When we got to the Bulgogi place, everything was reserved, so they let us sit in the back room. It was a funny experience to sit there between coats, boxes and such. The sides were completely different from the previous times… they were better :D
Shabu shabu, which we only (sadly) discovered 2 days before leaving, was amazing. The first time we failed kinda hard cause we didn’t season the broth, and just found out til the end (it was still good though). So this time we were decided to make it right this time, and we think we did. Not only the food was amazing, but just like in general (something we felt several times while in Korea) the overall relaxed and friendly environment in which meals take place was really nice, just sitting on the floor is a nice experience already.
Next day we flew really early to Shanghai, where we had a 10 hour stop, before flying to Germany. We thought, due to visa requirements and such, that we would have to spend the time in the airport and we were so not looking forward to that. We decided to ask nonetheless, and to our surprise the guy who helped us spoke really good German ^^ He told us we were allowed to go out, and told us how to get to the city, we had to take the Maglev!
After we had to take the subway, we thought we would get horribly lost, but to our surprise, Chinese subway is super friendly, and people are always willing to help. We managed to get to People’s Square Plaza without getting lost. Shanghai is such an impressive city, you stand the in the middle of the plaza just looking everywhere.
We found a restaurant not so far from there, and we tried Sweet & Sour Pork Chops, which were outstanding, and some Szechuan Beef, it was good but spicy. We walked around Shanghai, tried some street vendors stuff, like dumplings, breads, candies, etc. and in the night we went back to the same place and try Soy Sauce Chicken, which was some weir part of the chicken so it was a bit annoying to eat, and some Honey Glazed Pork, which was quite good. And then our vacations were over, but we really look forward to going back and trying more of that amazing food ^^
