EPTAfter a year or two abstinence from good old BW I finally had the urge to play it again. Mostly due to the awesome foreigner team (sziky you are pro!) showing me that there is still a damn good reason to play this game even if the (foreign) community might be shrinking. I've never stopped watching pro BW, but the foreigner team really made me want to play BW again.
I've always been a kind of competitive person, which probably everyone is that has played Broodwar at a certain level. So after I left Broodwar I started playing SC2 for a bit (hey, I even got into Masters - wasn't too hard tho with a good BW background), Altitude (this game has a small, but amazing and competitive community, too bad the ladder times really blow for an european) and LoL (only ~1400 elo, no Idea if that is considered good or bad after ~300 games overall)
Eventho I really liked those games (especially altitude and lol) and invested alot of time the motivation dimmished quite fast. So why not go back to the game that kept me motivated over years and probably tenthousands of games.
Now, I had no idea where everyone is playing now so I just installed ICCup. You can never go wrong with ICCup I thought. And as I always used to when I played BW I put on my Hwaseung OZ longsleeve (man I feel so pro and no shit, my APM goes up by at least 30 when I wear it while playing.)
Anyway, let's get into the game. No need for a warm up game vs AI after 2 years, right? I mean it's only D lvl. After joining my first two games with speed fast (what?) I finally got a game going. TvZ.
5 4 3 2 1 start: Worker split - Holy shit this game is hard. I definitely should have warmed up. What was the right bo again? 9 depot, 11 rax can't go wrong with that. Scout, 15 depot. Man I still feel it.... or not, 2 idle workers already. Everything I used to do in my sleeps was so so hard...
Well, it was D level afterall and I finished the game quite fast. The second and third game went similiar, but I noticed how I got better every second. In my fourth game I got raped by some korean zerg who wasn't D lvl at all, but I probably would have demolished at my "prime".
Eventho I sucked, and it was kinda frustrating to not be as good as I used to be, but hell those games were fun, and it weren't even close games. The thrill and excitement Broodwar gives you (me) is just amazing.
After that experience I definitely am going to play some Broodwar again. I just installed fish as it seems the place to go now. And the real reason I'm writing this blog: Is there Channel or smth to meet some TL people? I used to be ~B on Iccup 1-2 years ago, but I'm totally out of shape. If anyone wanna play msg me.
