With my final exams coming up and me being a chronic procrastinator, who will do just about anything to avoid studying, I decided to do a battle report instead. We'll be looking at a
The game is played on Shakarus Plateau, with both players spawning at the 2 top spawns. DRG spawns at the 11 o'clock position and Bomber at the 2 o'clock. DRG opens 15 hatch 15 pool, with Bomber opting for 1 Rax, gas, no wall in.
Both players now at 15 supply then scout each other at about the same time, Bomber spots DRG's overlord scout. So they both proceed to send a drone to each others base. At the 4 minute mark Bomber pokes in to DRG's natural with a single marine and scv. DRG chases out the intruders with 4 lings, killing the scv and a the marine escapes to join 2 of his brothers at the upper Xel'naga tower.
Meanwhile, DRG gets ling speed with his first 100 gas, leaving just 1 drone on gas afterwards.
Bomber builds a factory, plants a CC at his nat, and builds a reactor on his barracks. All with just 3 marines on the field. He swaps the factory onto the reactor as soon as it completes, and adds a tech lab onto the barracks. He makes two hellions before swapping the factory to the tech lab and placing the barracks back onto the reactor. He immediately starts blue flame research and begins producing 2 marines at a time from the reactor while starting a depot wall at the ramp to his natural.
At the 6:20 mark, Bomber pokes DRG's natural with 2 hellions, and quickly retreats due to a spine at the top of the ramp. In Bomber's main he is constructing a 3rd command center,DRG sits back happily droning up and gets a small squad of about 12 lings to ward off any intrusions.
A minute later @7:20 we see DRG working his creep forward towards a potential 3rd base at the 8 o'clock position. He slaps down his baneling nest at his natural, while 3 extractors complete. The evolution chamber was started at about the 7 minute mark and is half completed now.
Across the map at this time Bomber is finishing his wall at his natural ramp consisting of 3 supply depots and a bunker. He throws down a 2nd barracks and 2nd gas at 7:30.
Ladies and Gentlemen, we may have a macro fest on our hands.
@8 minutes Bombers first tank is out which he started after 5 hellions were on the field. His 3rd orbital is now morphing. Bombers hellions check for a 3rd which isn't there, DRG's lair is about 3/4's completed.
30 seconds later DRG morphs in 3 banelings, just to be safe. He sends an overlord into Bombers main, which is quickly killed without seeing anything but some scv's mining in the main. The 3rd orbital in Bombers main is not scouted.
Bomber is taking his 3rd gas, adds a tech lab onto the 2nd barracks as soon as it completes. Both players appear to want to sit back and macro. Fantastic.
By 9 minutes we have DRG taking his 3rd with creep almost all the way to it. DRG also starts a spire and baneling speed, with his lair now finished. He has excellent overlord positioning in his main giving him full vision, throughout the game he vigilantly spreads creep at his bases to spot for him.
A lesson for all zergs!
9:40 we finally get a little action. Bomber moves a squad of hellions and marines onto DRG's creep and drops a scan to clear some tumors. While this is going on, Bomber starts 2 more barracks and a starport also placing 2 turrets behind the mineral line of his main.
DRG reacts with some ling/bane and 2 queens, his 3rd is half way completed and he begins a macro hatch inside his main.
The 5 Hellions escape and all the marines and banes are lost. DRG immediately replaces his lost tumors, and has +2 melee attack started also pumping about 16 more lings.
The first 6 mutas pop at 11:15 and are sent straight to the main of Bomber. He has well positioned marines and turrets so the mutas are repelled without doing any damage. Seeing the mutas Bomber moves his hellion squad off of the xelnaga tower hiding them in the corner at the bottom of the map next to the destructible rocks, for later action. Bomber is now adding 2 reactors onto his 2 new barracks. Stim and a 1st medevac from the naked starport are both about 3/4's completed and he also has combat shields cued up behind stim.
DRG is now droning up his 3rd, taking both gas, also adding to his muta flock.
@12:15 DRG's mutas scout that Bomber has lifted his Macro orbital and taken the 3rd just below the cliff of his main. His muta's snag a free medevac kill before being driven back.
Inside bombers main a 2nd factory, armory, 2nd engineering and 3 more turrets are being constructed.
By the 13 minute mark DRG is taking a 4th base, (his 5th hatchery total) he pokes Bomber's 3rd base again with his ever increasing muta count, which forces a stim.
Seeing that all the marines were stimmed and at half health DRG decides on some more aggression at Bomber's 3rd base. He sends in some ling/bane/muta just before a bunker can be completed and before the marines can be healed.
Bomber target fires the banelings 1st with his tanks, taking them all out in 1 shot. But the lings and mutas do some work, destroying 4 tanks, about 15 marines, and a medevac. Losing most of the lings he has, but only 1 muta, DRG has now made sure it will be a while before Bomber can push through the middle of the map.
But Bomber has an ace up his sleeve. Remember those hellions he hid earlier? While defending his own 3rd base, bomber's hellions swoop into DRG's 3rd.
SURPRISE!
The hellions net 9 more worker kills, stop all mining at the 3rd for a short while, and scout that the 4th base of DRG just completed before mutas move in for the clean up. Back at home Bomber starts his Ghost academy.
There is a minute of calm before 19 mutas attack the main of Bomber. They destroy some turrets and manage to snipe the ghost academy. As they move around behind the natural of Bomber his 1st thor is completed and it gets a single shot off that hits every muta. The muta flock is forced to retreat. As this is happening DRG is getting +1 carapce, +1 air armor and an infestor pit. Bomber adds 3 more rax putting him at 6. With a round of thors being produced from both factories before returning to tank production.
A brief period of calm in-sues and now at the 16:30 mark we see Bomber starting a 4th base at the 4 o'clock position. DRG is comfortably, sitting on 73 drones and 5 hatheries/4bases. He starts pumping lings and morphs banes just outside the range of the sensor tower Bomber has built near his 3rd.
Just over a minute later @18:45 DRG attacks, with both players at nearly equal supply (about 180) DRG makes his first major blunder of the game.
Bomber has a large group of marines in between his 3rd and 4th base. When DRG pushes in, they stim and retreat towards his well defended 3rd base. DRG chases them, instead of rushing the 4th base of bomber.

DRG quickly replaces his mass of lings from his many hatcheries, he started his hive just before he attacked and it's well underway now. His mutas that survived the battle have been swooping around attempting to do damage, but bombers defense and reactions are rock solid. Only loosing an scv here and there to the harass while whittling down the muta flock from 25 to just 9 in under 2 minutes time. Perfect stim timings and well placed turrets, and thors contribute to the zerg casualties. DRG definitely overcommits with his mutas. (blunder #2)
DRG secures his 5th base during his attempts at harass.
The game settles once again for a long period of calm, and Bomber produces 3 macro orbitals in his main. Which are always useful in taunting one's opponent.
Both players are on double upgrade facilities and are working on 3/3, with bomber being about a minute ahead on his upgrades. DRG researches burrow, gets a handful of infestors and starts a greater spire, but not adrenal glands.
@20:30 DRG commits his third major blunder of the game attacking head on into Bombers army and doing no major damage. He does manage to catch Bombers army on the move, in the middle of the map with his tanks unsieged, but bomber brings 75 lings and no banes. His muta count is up to 16 again, but his entire ling force evaporates in under 10 seconds to the 3/3 stimmed marine/tank/thor force.
Both players resume macro mode and for the first time since his hellion harass, Bomber is ready to get aggressive. He sends out a drop to the main and 5th base of DRG. They are easily shut down however and do no significant damage.
At the 23 minute mark, DRG has 7 Broodlords in the air, supported by some infestor and plenty of ling. He pushes through the middle of the map. Bomber only has 4 ghosts out, but just as it appears Bomber is loosing ground, his reinforcements arrive, including 5 vikings and the army of DRG is repelled. In a stroke of brilliance DRG sends a squad of 24 lings to do a run by into Bombers main. They snag quite a few marines (on move command) rallying out of the barracks and even take out a thor before Bomber is able to react and clean them up. All the while Bomber is living up to his name preparing some nuclear aggression.
Both players then fall back from the middle and regroup. The supply has equalized once again with both players at 150.
@25:30 after the success of his first run by DRG attempts to repeat his success running some lings into Bombers 4th and 5th bases but finding them both PF's he attempts to hid them in a corner to morph some banelings. Bomber is right on top of things and catches them morphing.
DRG throws down a 5th base, but DRG's blunders coupled with Bomber's excellent macro, defense, decision making and control have netted him a solid 35 supply lead.
@27:00 Bomber again attempts a double drop, DRG stops the drop at his main but looses his 4th to the second drop.
Now Bomber kicks into high gear. At 28:00 he nukes DRG's 5th base, but DRG spots it retreating his drones and forces with just seconds to spare.
Whew, I can breathe now!
All the while Bomber starts creating a PF/Tank/marine/ghost/viking blockade in mid map.
Then DRG tries to pass.

As DRG's entire army is crushed Bomber teaches us how to say "Get the fuck out" in Korean
That's how.
DRG is starting to show signs of the disease that plagues Idra known as "the tilt", he attempts to flank Bombers force with 10 UNBURROWED infestors. Which Bomber gladly slaughters at the bottom of his natural ramp. DRG does manage to burrow 4 before they die and leaves them there, ready to strike.
Both players proceed to dance back and forth in mid map for a bit, but Bombers lead simply continues to grow. If nukes and manner mules aren't enough, Bomber attempts to blind DRG with the light of the sun aka manner scans.
DRG manages to force a liftoff of Bomber's nearly mined out third, which he happily adds to his collection of 5 Orbital Commands inside his main. Bomber then continues to remind DRG that the game is over with a successful nuke on DRG's 6th base.
"Excuse me, waiter, I'd like a bowl of your finest Drone blood soup and a side of yummy Zerg tears please."
Seeing no "gg" yet bomber keeps up the pressure.
Finishing off DRG's 6th base after the nuke a hero maurader also finishes off DRG's 5th expansion with his dying breath.
This guy needs a raise.
With 1 mining base and a huge supply gap, DRG finally surrenders.
Now, if you're thinking that Bomber is just a huge jerk for all of his foul mouthed manner mules, I'd like to point out that he definitely got inside DRG's head. My proof?
After DRG's unburrowed infestor runby he left 4 infestors sitting right next to Bomber's rally point for all of his unit producing structure for the remainder of the game. Over 5 minutes they were completely forgotten. Bomber went on to win the next game sweeping DRG 2-0.
