Nicknames? Why?
Of these, you have a 50/50 split of what I see as OP's that should actually be in the SC2 General section, and OP's that should be blogs. I frequent the blog section relatively often, so it doesn't matter where it is, I will most likely see it. My problem is that I look at the SC2 general section for news about SC2 that does not fit in the other sections. Seeing as there are countless threads popping up and getting buried, I will just say why I think each OP should be in which section and why.
Issues with casting in SC2 -Blog
All of this is about SarsFlu's opinion on what HE thinks should change on casting. To any knowledge I could find, he is NOT any sort of community figure in any way. Now there is nothing inherently wrong with that, but at the same time, this does mean that his opinion is not one I can trust to have any sort of value i.e. he is not a caster, he is not a player, he does not run tournaments or anything of that sort. So while he may or may not make valid points, if djwheat, Artosis, TB, Day[9], or anyone of that sort were to pop in and say "hey your fucking retarded" or something of that nature, I would immediately (99% of the time) side with the well known figure as long as it is a figure in the field (for example, if Stephano said something, I would look at it more deeply, but not quite so much.) Long story short, this is a subjective piece written by a fan that would make an excellent blog.
[D] Fundamental problems with Terran -Blog
Similar to the above post, this is simply an opinionated piece by SpunXtain. I will not go into as much detail as above, but the theory is the same. He seems to be an awesome guy that is passionate about what he has to say, but quite frankly, it isn't news, and it (in my opinion) is not quite accurate. While there MAY be some truth to what he has to say, most of it simply seems like venting, which is perfectly fine as a blog.
The Analytical Caster - A Twitter Story -SC2 General
While this is written by yet another no namer in the community, Porcelina, like myself, this is not an opinionated piece. This is just simple condensing a twitter conversation of well known figures and presenting it to us in an easy to read format. Great! I didn't know this conversation had taken place and I am interested by it. While the conversation itself IS full of opinions, it is opinions of people we all know and in my case, care and respect as well. Therefore, in my eyes, it should be in the SC2 General section.
[MLG] Providence - Finale -SC2 General
This would be the ideal SC2 General OP if it wasn't already posted in the featured news. Even so it is fantastic. While there are opinions within it, it is overall just a wrap up of the MLG Providence tournament, which is exactly what I want in tournament post wrap up. If I only wanted the results, I would check the TLPD.
Official State of the Game Thread -SC2 General
State of the Game is a well know podcast hosted by some of the communities most famous figures, often with other most famous figures as guests. The OP itself contains only the facts of who, what, when, etc. Even if this wasn't the SotG podcast thread, and it was the Starcraft Late Night thread with Marty and Borg, it should still be in the SC2 General section simply because it is presenting you with facts. If it is a podcast that no one cares about (or they only make one episode every two months...) then it will get buried, if it is popular and updated regularly, it will arise and continue to be looked upon and what not. Either way, SC2 General is were it should be.
Nicknames? Why? -Blog
While this thread, created by Fuzer, might have a valid question, I do not think it deserves to be in the SC2 Section. The question it asks has been discussed by many of the people that are well known within the community that has a lot more knowledge and experience with SC2 and esports than Fuzer has. It's only facts is stating that real "sports" don't typically use nicknames. Other than that, he says things like "Nickname thing is kinda useless, because at lan events no one is not basicly hiding behind their nickname so why to use them? " What? No offense man, but this is an opinion that is poorly expressed. I literally had to read that sentence 4 times to figure what it meant. I may be stupid, but good writers make it easy for us dumb folk to understand what they are trying to say. While I do not want to insult this guy, this was written 8 days ago and is still at the top of the SC2 General section. I read, I commented on it, but it's not news, it's a blog on some guys thoughts.
These are just my opinions, if you agree, disagree, or just want to say something, I am more than willing to change my mind, thanks for reading.
