This video makes a tremendous display of the largely unedited voices I attempted, as well as the many efforts to create that "com static" as seen in games like Homeworld 2. As I was unable to put faces to voices in Black Sun, the pressure to make each voice unique when I voiced the majority of voices was incredibly overwhelming.
As I do not speak in real life except for over brief ventrilo conversations, my normal voice is vastly underdeveloped. To weigh upon this, my disabilities have been gnawing at my motor functions for a long time, and I commonly misplace or screw up words. However, the Anahn, a lizardfolk-like race from my writing, cannot be portrayed without brutal, gruff voices. A voice that I had to create or fail trying. I felt that my portrayal of the Anahn was weak at best, but it certainly exceeded my unedited voice acting prior to this production.
On top of this is the edited voices of the Fear and Xul`Amon, which I felt fairly confident I had done well with.
Black Sun also features voice work from other actors, including lozarian from this very forum. To hear them, of course, you could watch the production. You will find that there is a huge difference between the Black Sun video and this video and how the lines are protrayed. That is because for the most part, the lines in this video are as they were voiced, while during Black Sun's composition I felt my writing was really slipping and a massive amount of voiced material was constantly cut out or redone. I probably have several hours of recordings just for Anahn one-liners.
While I consider Black Sun overall to have been mostly a failure, the practice in voice acting and many difficult lessons I learned from it would be of great service if I ever decided to do another mod or game-related project in the future.
