EPTAround ten days ago I got a pretty heavy cold which caused me to sneeze and cough a lot and hard. After some days, maybe a week ago I woke up with a pain I can only describe as a mixture of extreme aching muscles and broken ribs. It was Friday and I was kinda confused where this came from and what it was. But since I belong to those people who only go to the doctor if they feel there is no other option, I decided to relax during the weekend and see if it goes away after some days.
Monday came and it had gotten a bit better. Therefore I skipped my visit to the doctor, again. The pain was bearable and I could go to work. Today’s morning was different. Things had gotten worse. I almost couldn`t sleep and when I tried to get out of bed my chest felt like someone put a knife in it and my girlfriend really began to worry about me.
So I promised to go see the doctor and did that. He checked me, but wasn`t sure about what was going on with me and therefore sent me to the hospital to get my blood checked and for an x-ray scan.
On my way to the hospital I myself started to wonder if this was something serious. The next four hours were extremely boring and went like this: check in – waiting – nurse (cute =) ) – blood samples – waiting – 2nd doctor – waiting – nurse (not that cute =( ) – x-rays – waiting – 2nd doctor again. He told me they checked for several possible causes of my pain, but couldn`t find any indication for something to worry about. My rips and lung are ok and it seems like my heavy coughing caused pleurisy, which is highly treatable. Fuck yeah.
So what is it I want to tell you? Don`t be afraid of shit, just because you don`t know anything about, or it makes you feel bad. Ask people with experience. Btw. this is very applicable for everything in life! Another reason for this blog is one of my all-time favorite music videos. I saw it again when I came home today and it encouraged me to write this piece. Listen to the lyrics and look into the people’s faces. It will make you feel better, I promise.
