So, I purchased ESPORTS a couple of months ago to try and get it in time for my taiwan/malaysia trip: http://www.teamliquid.net/blogs/viewblog.php?id=256630
Unfortunately, it didn't arrive in time
So, I haven't had a chance to bust out ESPORTS before Perth Barcraft (Sunday, 20/11/2011). For the confused Americans, the rest of the world uses DD/MM/YYYY format.
The Barcraft was held at Basement on Broadway. The pub has about 10 types of beer on tap and the typical pub food (e.g. burgers, chips). They have a good sound system so watching the games was quite good!
My friend and I decided to pop over and watch a few matches after church. Another friend was going to come but he had a church meeting. However, him and a couple others came later to watch a bit. One of them played Protoss and was slightly disappointed that it was a TvZ game (sC vs Losira).
I explained to them about the players - for instance, Losira is quite prone to bunker rushes and sC is well known to love to do just that. Gave them an overview on the tournament and players while mentioning that it's 50k for the winner!
It was a good turnout and because of that it was difficult to secure a prime vantage point. I was talking to a guy named Peter who from the conversation is also an avid watcher of SC2 and a fan of Tyler. He comes to TL but doesn't post much. He came to the previous Barcraft in Perth (GSL Oct finals, MMA vs MVP). I didn't come because I didn't know it was on. He told me he was going to play more SC2 (plays zerg) and progress past Plat. Good luck if you're reading this!
Unfortunately, this was a delayed broadcast so it's a little hard to get hyped since I know the results already. To compound this, 3 of the top 4 in the winner's bracket was Protoss, along with the cocky (and overhyped) DRG, which didn't help my mood! I didn't stay too long as I was very tired (stayed up watching football (soccer) last night).
I was quite surprised at the turnout and didn't know there was a large and knowledgeable SC2 scene in Perth. I always felt like I was the only one watching it here, lol. The next Barcraft is going to be the GSL finals, so going to get hyped for that!

I was there, good times. Saw your glasses too, gave me a laugh

...huh. I need to follow the Barcraft stuff more closely. Didn't occur to me that would be one in Perth.

The notifications get pretty spammy but all the info comes from here

Requested! I might be able to help with a location for the GSL as well.

Woo Perth! Too bad the broadcast was delayed, kinda ruins it. I might goto the next barcraft if my friends are going, otherwise starcraft 2 just doesn't cut it for me.

Hey I'm in that first photo. Damn it I knew my hotbid sense was tingling.
