People should really just PM a mod, or report the thread. If you are feeling generous you can explain why you think the thread is crap (example in strat not following guidelines and linking them). Back seat mdoeration can be annoying if it adds absolutely nothing to the thread. examples? try the first few responses to his post. lol. it is annoying to see this in threads, but the vast majority of the time (maybe 80% up), the thread is later closed because the nay-sayers were correct. its annoying when a good discussion is brought up, but the first few posts all say to close the thread.... Thanks for adding absolutely nothing What I meant was saying it happens doesn't prove anything. Link some examples, show us what you mean. Often people get this idea that something that annoys them is overwhelming the site when in reality it is a rare occurence. I just wanted some examples to prove to me this is not the case. i find it hard to believe that you have never seen this behavior in the forums. do you seriously want the op to browse through the forums to find concrete examples of something apparently everyone but you has seen before?
still not seeing any examples...

I totally agree with the OP. If there is a thread that you feel is out of place then report it to the mods and move on. No reason to respond to the thread with some random one liner. If all posts are supposed to be informative and thought out then the responses to poor posts should be as well.

Read your blog again and think about that for a second
Haha this is funny.
There's a bit of irony, but also it's a post on posting etiquette that's complaining about a post on posting etiquette that's also complaining about posts on posting etiquette on Team Liquid...

I tell people this so when they make another thread later they're less likely to place it the wrong section. Always follow this up by reporting it if its bad/in the wrong section.

I am so incredibly frustrated with a large amount of people in this community. Every single thread I go in to is filled with comments such as "Wow is this thread worthy?", or "Move to this section", and all of these other filler comments... I don't want to see ten plus people back seat moderating every fourth post... People also seem to have caught on to the "elitism" of Teamliquid and try and play that, why is the person with four hundred posts telling the guy with two hundred posts that he "clearly hasn't been here for very long"? Why are there people who signed up in November 2010 in Brood War threads, telling people who signed up in January 2011 that they aren't allowed to make statements about Brood War? Leave a post in the thread if you have something to say about it, otherwise, stop it.
That is all. End rant.
That is basically the issue you are dealing with. However the longer users are on TL the more laid backish it becomes in that section of the community. Most of the issues you mention are from people who are newish to the site who act like everyone else to try and fit in. It can be rough to deal with but you can glaze over those posts or go to the areas of the forums where those people don't seem to exist.

Its the best way to boost your post count other than mindlessly posting in live report threads.

It's the TL version of downvoting. There's no little minus to click so you write a short condemnation instead.
Don't worry though, blogs do have downvoting of sorts and i made sure to 1/5 this one. ^^

And that's why I made a blog, not a post in a thread. Thanks though. Really.

this kid is right. Notice how this is a useless post of your theory, but that doesn't descibe me. or does it?

Backseat moderating the backseat moderators, this thread is meta as fuck
|
but if i just report the post and don't say how the thread should be in blogs, or how it's not threadworthy because it's a link and two pictures.... how can i get over 10,000 posts?

clearly it's because the people who are trying to backseat moderate don't have the report function yet / just want to boost their post count...
|
The key is to report these kinds of posts to the mods (I do this a lot).

Think about pressing the button before you press the button. And if you don't someone else will press the button.
