Just played 3 normal games and dang, the players trash talk so hard. Both teams have people who would trash talk and rage when they die or kill. My last game had this really good player, probably smurfing, who kept calling us shit and etc. I tried my best not to rage when he kills me because he was level 18 when everyone else was around 14. It was also a 4v5... us being 4. I was pretty angry inside but i didn't let my emotions come out. When we lost, i kinda just blamed it on my team even though i didn't do too well and so did my other teammates. This game makes me treasure the community of sc2. >< i guess i have to deal with it?

This is the thread where your frustration is welcomed: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=220361

If you already are having rage problems, just wait until you hit 30 and try to play ranked. New heights of rage and doubt in humanity will be reached.

Just type /ignore all at the beginning if you are in a bad mood and you won't hear anyone talk trash, though it might get in the way of communicating with your team.

Lé this.

Also, this is to be expected. The only real cure is to level up that kraken shell and shrug it off. oh wait you play LoL. Get your fortify summoner up I guess.

That's normal for this type of genre, unless you play with people you know.

Unfortunately, yeah, you just kinda have to deal with it...lol.

This is why I pretty much only play with friends. At least then when we rage at each other we know its all in good fun :p

it gets better the better you get. You're probably at the bottom of the hidden normal games ladder right now which is where new players start and stupid people tend to stay... So there's a disproportionate number of stupid people in your games atm. Also there are probably quite a few more smurfs than you realize in your games, lots of bad players will hit 30 and then just make a new account because they're not winning enough to get satisfaction out of it. I'm not really trying to convince you to stay with the game, just noting it does get better.

LoL is probably one of the worse gaming communities I have come across. All I will say is don't play seriously, just play to have fun. If you know your allies are completely retarded, just don't take it seriously and troll the fuck out of that game. It's way too frustrating trying to actually win the games where your allies are doing everything to lose it for you.

And if you are going to play ranked, try to find someone to duo queue with, and pick important roles likes carry/jungler, solo/jungler etc. Pick roles that will have the most impact on the game.

SC2 is way less frustrating rofl. If I lose in SC2, well thats my fault. If I lose in LoL, I could have played a part in losing but mostly it seems to be the fault of my teammates.

I just treat it like SC. If I lose I always blame myself, not the healthiest habit, but it keeps me playing

If you are really having a bad day, there is a reason why there is an ignore button.

HoN/Dota/LoL - about the same level of bashing. I've had the worst in HoN though.
In comparison, in SC2 1v1 at least it's just one person, and he's the enemy, so I see this as much easier to deal with, plus you have ignore option, and it's not like ignoring them may affect negatively your play. Whereas in these games, most often your teammates are bashing you (if you are a noob like me) and that makes you even worse, because you actually have to find a way to work with these people. You can't just ignore them even if there was such option (which I don't think there is).

if you have a game where you can't objectively say you're better then people tend to overrate themselves.

everytime you win it's cuz you carried everytime you lose your teamates are shit. that's what people really think of themselves.

there was a thread in riot forums polling people about their elo. no one knows their normal game elo so this was an approximation. it ended up having 70% of the community saying their elo was mid-high. mid-high would be around 1800 elo if everyone started at 1200 elo. of course the average for the community was more like 1400.

just another example of all that illusory superiority jazz

the problems of playing a team based game with 4 strangers haha.

The average for the community is nowhere near 1400 haha. I'm gonna guess you pegged 1400 as the average because that's similar to your rating?

I don't know, I heard a lot of bad things about the moba crowd but then I started playing LoL (casually, I imagine ranked is worse in this regard) and it's not bad at all. A few rotten apples, sure, but they're easily ignored

average for the forum community

you start off at 1200 and the average forum user is a little more intelligent then the average lol player.

i wasn't 1400. im not gonna post what my normal elo was from way back when because it's irrelevant. oh btw i'm talking about normal game elo not ranked elo. normal game elo was revealed for a brief period of time when people found out how to get it. then it was patched.

the average for a forum poster was probably more like 1300 elo.

there are plenty of riot posts about this and the average ranked for active players was around 1250 last season. don't see any reason it would be different in normals, just more normal games so the numbers would be higher, but still map 1:1.

Maybe I'm just misunderstanding you, you seem to be arguing about something that is totally unrelated to what I'm saying

what i'm saying is that back when there was no ranked, players only had normal and they couldn't see the normal elo. players were polled and 70% of them said they were mid-high. of course this wasn't the case after people found out what their actual normal elo was during like a 2 week window when people could find out. the average elo is unrelated, what i'm saying is that when people can't see their elo they all think they're significantly higher than they actually are.

It's something you cannot avoid, my friend. Take any negative comment on the internet as a grain of salt and focus only on improving Hell, even on Dota 2 beta, where I expected people to be somewhat civilized because they have been pick to test this prestigious game, people talk shit all the time..it's not even funny -.-
