Hey teamliquid this is my first blog post hah. so i was just gonna share some of the photoshop work ive done over the past two days. These are my first attempt at photoshop so go easy but any and all tips would be appreciated
^This is the sig i made for my self my first real attempt at doing anything serious
^This is a Banner Bar a made for a friends stream page it is an immortal fading into dust with the saying "Nothing is forever" (forever is my friends sc2 name) also fading away kinda ironic because it is an immortal haha
^This is a Dragon made of rose petals with a dark background of rose stems shows a dark mood. the quote "There is no pain as great as the memory of joy in present grief" this kindof symbolizes my feelings when i was making it i recently moved and left behind alot and i always feel really sad or upset when i think about my situation right now and compare it to my past situation
^This is a Picture i made for my AFJROTC class i personally think this is the best one, But it does not really have very much symbolism There is a sidewalk in this picture can you find it ?
well this is the summery of my work any tips would be great, or just a comment on how awesome it is haha jk
Thanks for reading ~zickoray

For two days of doing stuff, it's not too bad.
As for tips, one of easiest things to do is peruse as many tutorial sites as you can. You may or may not use specific tutorials for any project or image you're working on, but you'll start picking up ways of accomplishing certain tasks and learning about the functions and tools in Photoshop for the future.
Keep at it!

thanks
im still getting used to blending images to backgrounds so they dont look really fake and all
but ill take your advice and look up some tuts

Yeah, you need help. I'll edit this with pointers when I come back from class. I post a couple small sigs I did, and try to spot some blending techniques, etc.
Also, your images should NOT rely on text to fill space or provide distraction. Test should be simple, and fairly minimal. Keep that in mind.
+ Show Spoiler + These are older, so sorry if they're not as great.
Try to look at the lighting I used, and render blending, etc.

not bad. be sure to share your work with us again as you learn and improve Personally I've never tried to touch this stuff outside of high school classes years ago. I'm artistically challenged lol

Find some good, conservative fonts. Don't bother with fonts that are complex. They take away from the image itself. At some point I realized I was trying to use the font to make the image better, and that isn't what you should be doing unless you're doing typography.
Figure out how to create depth. "Flat" looking images are boring looking. Depth is probably the hardest visual tool to pick up and use effectively, but once you learn it, you're art steps up miles ahead of other art.
Colors are tremendously important. If you don't already have a color wheel or something of the sort, find one. I also use http://www.colourlovers.com/ for palette ideas.
You're off to a good start! Keep it going!

Uhm.. well it's a little of a lot of things. I use C4Ds, brushes, other images, and you need to do a LOT of layer work. It comes with practice.. let me see if I can dig up any tutorials I have saved... I'll PM you if I find them.
