I am so fucking pissed right now.
Came out of my office to see a giant fucking dent in the back of my car. No note, no cars around me, no fucking nothing.
It's someone who probably works in my office building. Who ever did it is a fucking asshole.
I don't want to claim it on insurance because I don't want my rate to increase. -_-
I filed a police report and I contacted the building's security. I'm just pissed that now I have a fucking errand to run and I have to pay it out of my own pocket because someone is fucking retarded and can't drive.
Happy fucking halloween, yo.

-____- damage is on the driver's side rear. Back fender is bent in. Bumper is scraped and bent in. Thankfully, no lights were broken.
SIGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

Nope. :\ A coworker came by while the cops were taking down my info. She told me her car got hit a while ago too, but she didn't file a police report. /cry

might as well use this opportunity to get a body kit. Then the only damage you'd have to fix is popping out that little bit of dent above the bumper.

On a bright side....nice fucking car! I'm jealous.

This is the second accident I've been in. :\ Last year, I got hit by a moving van. Tore up the entire driver's rear rim and fender. Bumper was falling off. Total cost to repair was around $5,000--but the guy who hit me had to cover it.
D: SO UNLUCKY BAHHHH

oh man this sucks so hardcore I got slammed on Saturday night, merged onto highway and cars in front of me were slowing down, I slow down and some guy rear ends me going 70. I was lucky it wasn't way worse tbh. gonna have to get my whole rear replaced+exhaust and shit is shot and to top it all off my back license plate got blown off so I gotta go through shit with the DMV to get replacement tags/registration...

Just annoyed that I might be out of a car for a little bit and I have to completely cover the cost. I estimate it'll cost at least $600 to repair.
I mean there's a lot more worse things that could've happened, but this is just a super annoyance to me... D: I was trying to save money too wahh!

That is such an assholish thing to do....
You don't mess with a man's car (pretty fucking sweet one at that) and then just piss off. It's so damn cowardly. Accidents happen and sure it is normally from an idiot move but hey they happen. But just leaving is so infuriating. I feel your pain.
Sucks that you have to pay out of your own pocket. Happy halloween indeed

no actually it was a hit and run, he was in a pickup truck and it was night, he rear ended me and I pulled to the right to stop and check dmg/make sure my friends in car are ok.as I'm pulling over I realize he's gone. didn't see his tags or anything, my friend thinks he was drunk as fuck.
thankfully nobody was hurt in my car.

I can empathise with your pain as I had it happen to me. It happens there's not much you can do about it. I guess I’ve never had a really expensive car but when I was at uni I had a CRX del sol which was literally all my money in the world so I was pretty mad when someone dented it. All I can say about that is don't ever live in a student area and care about your car at the same time.
Of course my car was really cheap compared to yours even if it was all my money so I only had third party fire and theft which didn't cover a small but visually significant dent and I had to pay myself. By the look of your car I'm sure you're well off enough to have the proper insurance to cover for this. You do say in the OP that you have to pay for it you're self though. How come is insurance different in the US? Or is it because the other car drove off it gets complicated?
edit:spelling- empathise not emphasize

man, i'm sorry. that totally sucks. Glad everyone was okay though.
Today has been fucking weird. Just found out a coworker got hit by a car while biking. He was helping this lady replace her tire, and when he finished, he started to leave and a car knocked him off his bike.
He's okay though and managed to make it back to his place. like 30 mins later, cops show up with the lady he helped. Turns out, the lady called and filed a report and got the license plate number of the car.
Good people do exist! Sucks that they're not always around. :\
|
Damn! nice car too. That sucks. At least you were not in it and it wasnt bad. I mean dont get me wrong, thats bad. Are you sure your rates would go up?
I was in a hit and run. At a stop light some truck going 40 plowed into me and ran off. Didnt get the full plate number. Since it was a hit and run my insurance "covered" it but i had good coverage and my rates didnt really go up. I quote covered because he hit me so hard he completely owned my trunk and rear end and completely totaled the thing. Still drive it since its only the back that got owned lol... but damn did it suck. Hit and runs are seriously completely dumb. And if your so blind as to hit someone in a parking lot.... you really should just man up.

So my insurance is bundled with my parents, so if I report the claim, my insurance rate will increase. I believe my parents' insurance will increase as well. I believe I have a $500 deductible though; so even if I do file a claim, I'm probably only going to save like $200 or something.
I don't want my rates to go up though, so if it's under like $1k, I'm ok with paying it out of pocket.

I believe anytime you file a claim on your insurance, your rates will increase. It also depends on your insurer-- I have AAA, but I don't know if I'm completely covered by hit and run stuff.

That area is pretty lit up, I think it's more "holy shit we just got rear ended at 70 mph" than "Where's that fucker!" takes over your brain and messes you up.
Last time I got rear ended the whole van crumpled up like a soda can...I dont think I have any pictures from it but holy sheet it was bad. Stopped at a stoplight and someone dropped their phone and went to pick it up and gg back end of my truck, 50+mph into the back of a stopped car.
Worst part was the lady gets out of the van and comes up to us and she's like "omg I hit you" and we're like "woman you have two kids in your car, are they okay??" and she says "OH SHIT THE KIDS" and goes running back to her van.
-_-
Long story short, 80% of people on the roads in any part of the world are assclowns. I've had three hit and runs on the Firebird and I've only had it for about 4 years now. :/

that sucks, all i can say is, defensive driving ftw, while i disregard the speed limit 99% of the time im driving (gotta leave the loophole for when there's a cop behind me -_-) i still have yet to be in a real accident (getting a minor crack and a few scratches on the rear bumper doesn't concern me at all, esp since it isnt even visible :D) generally people need to learn how to drive, but they wont so just try your best to do their driving for them, that is to say stay the fuck away from people xD
im more comfortable going sideways at 80mph on a back road where there arent other cars there, than i am going 60-70mph in a straight line on a highway where there are tons of people around -_-
its a shame that that happened to you, and it could happen to any of us, i know the pains of insurance prices and gas prices adding up, its a terrible time to be a driver on american roads (though to be fair gas prices seem to be going up in quite a few locations) also, i hope that you can get out of this without losing all of your money because some idiot never learned how to drive

There was no damage to the side of the car, but there was apparently a bit of damage under the bumper as well.
The job cost like 1300 dollars. I reported it with a 500 dollar deductible. My insurance told me my rates wouldn't go up since it was parked when the damage occurred and I don't have any type of a history of this happening.
If you are going for a 100% repair it's going to be at least as expensive as mine was.

Sorry about your car dude! The crazy ass thing is that I was hit on Halloween like 3 years ago when I was still in high school. The guy rear-ended me, but it really didn't do anything at all except leave a little plastic scuff on the back of my car, so I let him off the hook.

I really don't think your insurance would go up since it was not your fault at all. I would get the police report and claim insurance.
People have this notion that every time you claim insurance, your rates will go up: this is not true. This is exactly what insurance is for, so use it.

It's not true - unless you make a lot of claims.
For a one or two time deal it shouldn't (shouldn't! Tickets, other violations might have a factor in it) cause your rates to go up. Can always ask your parents what they think.
Like I said before, I was involved in three hit and runs - all three while the car was parked and I was working - and my rates didn't go up when my car had to have two fenders replaced and a door/mirror bracket replaced.

^^^^^^^
If it isn't your fault and you don't have a a lot of other "claims" or "infractions" then by all means make a damn claim.
It's stupid to pay 140+ a month (likely given you're driving a Z) for insurance and then not freaking use it.

My boyfriend got the rims stolen off his brand new G37S earlier this year. Right in his apartment complex.... In a well it area around 11PM.
We were walking to my car when we saw the guys take off in an untagged accord. Thankfully insurance covered it, but the whole process was pretty stressful. Lots of fuck ups by the dealership, u_u

Honestly, if I had an older car or a lesser car, I'd still be pretty pissed. It's still my property and someone just blatantly rammed into it without manning up and admitting that they're at fault.

Not sure if you're in the mood for a slightly funny story about accidents, but a car my friend was in got hit while it was parked in a parking lot - everyone was in the car so the driver pretty much had to stop and come over. I'm sorry about your car, and I know a lot of people have said this before but it's quite a sexy car. =)

Hahahah. Someone did that to my dad. D: He didn't care though-- it was just a minor scratch, so he just took it to the bodyshop and they touched it up for free.
I just came back from the bodyshop this morning to grab a quote. They estimated that assuming they do need to replace the bumper, it's gonna be around $1,500. :\ So prob just gonna claim it now u_u;
Car will be in the shop for probably 4 days -__-

Call insurance and ask first like micro said. That's two separate things there that gotta get dinged out and buffed. You probably won't get a hike and the repairs, even with family friends, I'm sure are more than $500 unless they really, really like you.

Yeah, last night, I thought it wasn't that bad and everything could've been popped out and repainted. Upon closer inspection this morning, NOPE! Bumper is most likely done. :\ They could try to salvage the bumper, but it probably won't look the same. just gotta buy a brand new one.

You never know. I had some moron back into me at a few years back and mangle up the hood and bumper of my Audi. I found a dude who was able to bend it back perfectly, looked like new, so I got the guy to pay it out of pocket and got some cash for myself because I saved on a new one.
