I listen to Nina Simone a fairly regularly, yet I still find myself surprised by Nina Simone songs. Sometimes they pop up in a sample from a Lil Wayne song or a Common song, or you get a full cover by Muse, but always when you go back and listen to the original, it blows the copies out of the water.

Anyway, I thought all people should be reminded of how awesome Nina Simone is, so here are some of my favourite songs:

Personal favourite is See Line Woman. Think it's the song that best shows off her vocal talents.

Great singer, I like "I got life" and "Love me or leave me" too!! and you should check her version of "my way" it's my favorite interpretation.
By the way i wouldn't call the muse song a "full cover" because nina wasn't the one to sing it originally either.

Love Nina Simone

Only cover I can really think is worthy of being called a cover of nina's songs is Feist who did see line woman.

I have to say her voice covers such an amazing range and passion that few can match.

Feeling good is one of my favourite songs. Just pure, soulful and strong. It's great.

Nina Simone is indeed very good but personally I think Sarah Vaughan is even better.
If you like Nina Simone you should definitely check out Sarah Vaughan (and perhaps also Dinah Washington and Billie Holiday although they don't have those beautiful deep voices like Nina and Sarah).

Perhaps not as Jazzy as those but you might also like Mercedes Sosa. The sound of her voice is comparable but her style is nueva canción (with it's roots in folk music from South America). Here are 2 samples.

I'm capped so can't find any good examples, but Ella Fitzgerald is in a similar boat to Nina Simone and Sarah Vaughn.
