I'm serious. People are fucking criticizing you, but if MLG says: "Hey we want you back, come back" and the Koreans are like: "You're a cool guy, let's drink Soju and Jinro", then who gives a shit.
Suck it up.
Example? I really hate my casting and my voice, I sound like shit and I have almost no idea what I am talking about. I get shit on all the time the few times I cast.
But QCStarCraft are like: "We like your stuff and your silliness, come cast for us".
Pft, okay. Fuck you haters. TL homoerotica

you need to learn to suck it up. in the professional scene, people get criticized all the time. but of course if you can't handle the workload, i guess it's time for a new career path
that said, you were the best translator, second to none.

Goodbye and good luck, Milkis. Unfortunately people are frequently assholes, in person as well as online. Its depressing how many people in this thread (on TL of all places) seem to think that because a lot of people are assholes, therefore its acceptable. I can truly understand being demotivated as you are, though of course I do wish you'd stay around.
And to people who say that criticism was warranted: do you honestly think that calling someone "retarded" can be considered criticism? Words have power. We are a social animal, when a member of our society uses words to attack us it hurts. That's hard-wired in, its not something we can control or just shrug off.

facts: internet is full of shit and the purpose of internet forums is discussion. results: milkis resign, jessica fights and archonOOid posts.

Haters gonna hate. If you can't live with that, might as well not even try. Anyways, thanks for the translations you did.

Ignore the trolls, especially the kids on reddit. I'm a big r/starcraft user, but there are some serious trolls and children there (here too, but TL is modded). Please don't let the shitty few ruin your view of us as a community. We love what you've done for us over and reddit, and all over the place.
I'm just sad to see you leave, and I hope it's not just because a few children were assholes

Well I guess I`ll miss your translations, I always liked you but you have to do what you have to do I guess...

Wow, I have no idea where this came from. Didnt read the post and dont know what it is about. I always liked Milkis, and have been happy multible times that we have such a bridge between korea and TL. I will miss you <3

Milkis, Thank you for your work. Although you didn't want to do live translation, I really appreciate the work and the effort you've done to promote esports as well as SC2. I don't necessary agree that you should leave the esports scene because it's something you enjoy and perhaps something you are passionate about. However if you're going to quit because a couple of kids called you a bad translator or a couple of silly comments then I wish you the best in your future endeavors. God speed.

It sucks that there's always gonna be haters, especially on the internet. Once you become any sort of known there's always gonna be people who want to talk shit.
It's up to you if you want to continue or not. In the end please know that a lot of people are very thankful and appreciative of all the hard work you put in!

Pft, okay. Fuck you haters. Sounds like a totally motivating work environment. The satisfied are always silent, smiling and happy. Some people are suited for these kinds of environments; others are not. We've seen people like Totalbiscuit adapt. Milkis has shown, I think, that he can't.
It may be that people like Milkis are in the majority. Actually, it probably is so. We on the internet tend to forget that the informal rules that we've developed are not actually social convention. What people here see as normal a person unacquainted with internet culture probably sees as insane. How many times do we mock 4chan? But for channers, imageboard conventions are as natural as the breeze.

This was a long time coming. When every action a man takes needs to be preceded by encouragement or followed by lavish praise in order for him to have self-confidence (How many Milkis wants to do XYZ but doesn't think anyone would care posts have we seen? Or Milkis doesn't think anyone cares about this or that or the other thing?), it's only a matter of time before the fragile ego breaks down. Some people just lack the assertiveness and self-assurance to survive in a harsh internet world. I would say if something as minor as this causes this serious of a reaction, you are making a good decision at taking a step back.
Is it possible for MLG to employ professional translators now for the main events/big players? That would be fantastic and a change many of us have hoped for for a long time.
|
You will be back! They always come back!
... I hope you come back
|
Goodbye Milkis, good luck with whatever you do.

|
If you can't take the heat stay out of the kitchen I guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I've always thought you were a good translator Milkis but I wouldn't expect anyone to last long in this community if they can't handle the trolls/hate.
|
I always liked you and what you did, but really you have to suck it up. People are assholes, yes, and it must be demotivating to be told you're shit, but you have to judge peoples' reactions to you in real life and not on the internet. Everyone on the internet is a dickhead until they prove otherwise, and the vast majority never prove anything, or do anything of worth.
I'm sure Sundance never said "actually Milkis, fuck you. You're terrible."
The korean players that enjoyed spending time with you never did either.
Fact is, everyone who gave you non-constructive criticism is never likely to amount to anything in their lives, and their achievements throughout their entire lifetimes will likely never amount to what you've achieved so far in yours, never mind what you'll go on to do later.
Helping people to build bridges over the river of the language barriers is a wonderful thing to do, not just because it's time consuming and extremely difficult (most internet trolls probably don't know how difficult it is to translate on the spot) but because it helps bring us together as human beings.
Thank you for what you've done, and I hope you'll reconsider. You're a fantastic person.
gl, hf
