Every now and then I have those days with SC2 where I'll work on refining something (like making sure I don't forget that stupid 42 pylon.) It will go fine and then I'll just forget the dang thing 3 times in a row and something cracks.
I go into the next game and I just start doing random crap that I've never practiced. Oddly though, I've found these little mental rabbit trails to be rather therapeutic. Suddenly I don't really care about anything as I'm playing. While I don't play as well in these moments, (and usually you lose, tilt doesn't usually help your play in any sport unless you're someone like John McEnroe) every now and then you find something cool that translates into your normal play.
Normally I try to use more colossus heavy play, and on one of these rabbit trails I started making tons of high templar and archons, and it gave me a few interesting ideas for incorporating that into my play.
Anyone else experience this sort of thing?

i had that a couple times i didn't learn anything though besides refining my mechanics though
well, except that archons are actually really good pvt and that the simplest drop play can throw your opponent waaaaay off

Well, whenever i try to concentrate on one factor (Queen Injects, Creep Spread, Timings) the opponent does stuff that completely throws me off or i get 3 ZvZs in a row where the opponent just masses ling/bling and kills me -.-
I then switch to my terran account and do fun stuff because you can't really do fun stuff as Zerg (at least i can't, i always die).
I found out yesterday that 2 starport raven/banshee can kill a Zerg even if he prepares with spores and additional queens. PDD is imba :p Also: Proxy-8rax does not work against a protoss who knows what he's doing.

After I lose a couple games, I tend to just wing a build in frustration. I usually end up doing something stupid like building only marines without upgrading stim until the 8 minute mark vs zerg.
I'm not sure why it happens either, but I feel for you!

Yes
I did a white ra 4 gate with dt's the other day, with a proxy robo. I felt good, especially as I had to pull probes to hold off his 2 rax rauder pressure into expo, and still managed to expand behind it.
:D

Haha glad to see I'm not the only one! And I dig the name, Economist! (Not just because I'm studying the subject for my masters either. )
