Hey everyone, first off, I would like to say that I really appreciate everything Team Liquid is doing for StarCraft, furthering it as an e-sport, popularising it and simply bringing the entire community together. Thanks guys, for all of this.

Now, on to the real reason I started this thread. I am finding that rather than getting bored of StarCraft, I am getting more and more excited about it. Usually when I buy a new game, that "new game feeling", wears off rather quickly, but now, 3 months after buying SC2, I simply cannot stop thinking about it in class, writing spur of the moment build order ideas down, talking about it with anyone and everyone that will simply hear about it for even a split second. SC2 has become less of a game and more of a lifestyle. I watch every GSL, GSTL, NASL that I can, I watch all of the Day [9] Daily's, I tune in to the tournaments, I watch the pros stream on Twitch, really, most of my days are filled with SC2 related activities.

I guess what I am trying to say in this post is, what ways are there for me to get more involved in the community? I am not that great of a player, however I am getting a lot better rather quickly, but I do not necessarily aspire to be a pro. Maybe I will enter a few amateur tournaments but they are few and far between here in Australia. I also do not have an amazing computer so I cannot really cast games. But I still have this itching feeling to do things within this community.

I'm stumped and I really don't know what to do so any new ideas are welcome. I have a lot of time on my hands as well, due to the fact that I just moved here, to Australia, and I normally just sit around and do, well, StarCraft.

If you read through this whole thing, thanks! I really want to be involved with furthering SC2 and e-sports in general, so please, help me!

Thanks again!

We cannot hold!

You seem to be involved a lot already. Watching & supporting streams/tournaments, playing etc.

Do you have any writing skills or any other skills that might be useful? Writing for example might create some "opportunity's". e.g writing tournament reports etc. If you can translate Korean or Chinese articles or other stuff to English, that is always appreciated.

Or unless you are a millionaire or just able to throw money for tournaments etc, then i really don't know what else you could do besides playing, casting or stuff above.

Organizing barcrafts or other kinds of public viewings can be a good idea too.

Besides just watching you could try to get more people to watch. Attend or organize a BarCraft or just a normal StarCraft party and watch with friends. Day9 once told how he organized a StarCraft viewing on his university and got tons and tons of people to show up. If you even get one person to be involved in the community as much as you do then you are already a winner to me.

Btw i love how StarCraft has that effect on people like you described.

Learn to network in the scene. Go to events and start meeting people. Stuff opens up the more people you know.

Wow, thanks everyone! Lots of new ideas I hadn't thought of yet. I will start posting more around here and maybe I will call up a local bar and organise a bar craft. and luckylefty, that is a fantastic idea. Even if I don't participate in a tournament I think I will still attend and just try to meet people.
