Anyway, I don't see how this is remotely surprising. Like 80% of the TL userbase is 2010+, so 80% of the shit posters would likely also be 2010+. Even more when you consider the pre-2010 shit posters have had that much longer to get banned for being shit posters.

Fun read though. Was impressive to see the pot I've been thrown into with such nonchalance. Is stereotyping that common? Do all people just apply characteristics to people just because of a small thing in common? Where has a person defining a person gone to? I guess Americans are fat idiots.

It's a bit of a rant cleverly disguised in a sort of elitism, by someone who joined in 2008. Fun read though. Was impressive to see the pot I've been thrown into with such nonchalance. Is stereotyping that common? Do all people just apply characteristics to people just because of a small thing in common? Where has a person defining a person gone to? I guess Americans are fat idiots. It's satire. It's much more disguised than I intended, and that's due to my poor writing skills. Older members of the TL community often bemoan how the forums have changed since SC2 beta began and an influx of new people arrived, which was 2010. For some proof of this, head over to the automated ban list discussion thread, or you can dig around and find more evidence elsewhere. It's not unanimous by any means. It does exist though. So what my blog aims to hint at is that things aren't actually all that different from where they were pre-2010 ("there's no strict evidence to support that this phenomenon even began in 2010"). I'm largely calling everyone who joined after 2010 to be a troll, while being a troll myself and a community member since 2008. I call the blog a troll because it pokes fun at 80% of the forum in one go, which is the process of flamebaiting, one of the more infamous troll tactics. People have done all those things since before 2010. So it's satire because it's an attempt at holding elitism up for ridicule, as pre-2010 or pre-SC2 members really did the same shit. I'm not arguing that it's great satire, as I'm not a fantastic writer and I lost sight of a clear direction every now and then. I clearly could have done a much better job and probably should have spent more time on it. It was done in good humor though, and I genuinely don't mean to offend anyone.

Even in a thread where there was a mod message to ask people to think 'do you need to post this' before they post there was still hundreds of pages of bullshit. Chances are in most of these threads people are just entirely repeating what someone else said anyway. So some threads are unreadable, SC2 LR being the most worthless. And yeah i know you said you are not serious but you obviously have some truth in there.

Comparing 2 years ago / pre-SC2 to now is not a big change. The entire internet turned into a crapper for all the idiots due to computers and internet being easier and easier to access. Invasion of the trolls it's called. They only die by fire or acid. Just like those drunkards on the street that feel immune, lose their sober identity, yelling and spouting shit and arguing over any little idiocy, the internet seems to give them the same power, and they use it as they use it while drunk. Most common clue is reading half the first post and misunderstanding and posting your "answer" on page 50. PS: I got a nice big list of spec changes to the software I'm working on this morning and the entire communication protocol changed with it; about halfway through. Your post was easy venting ) PPS: Work on your writing, it's nowhere near satire on elitism. You're a self proclaimed troll though so quality doesn't matter for you I suppose.

People on TL seem to be much more oblivious to trolling. They seem to get troll'd very easilly, upset very quick, and have a n extremely low tolerance for "Fun/Stupid" things. And while I don't think having a low tolerance for these sorts of things is neccessarely bad, I think it's important to realize that MOST other communities have very different environments, so for many people coming from other community's, TL community can easilly come off as carebears in this regard. Elitism is often not taken lightly, while in other games, elitism is the standard. A prime example of this is the strategy forum. Countless times I find myself bored and looking for something to read and I find a thread that has somehow been left in the strat forum reading " HI IM JOESHOE, IM A GOLD LEAGUE X AND THIS IS MY BUILD THAT WORKS. I THINK ITS SUPER DUPER. HERE IS A BO AND BE CRUSHING OTHER GOLD PEOPLE" And while I guess this is helpful topeople who are gold or subgold, its so often so easy to see countless flaws in most of these builds so long as you assume your opponent isn't completely horrible. But I guess the issue with this sort of thinking is that 90%~ percent of the community is actually not on a high level. Which is again something I myself, and possibly many other people are not used to. Maybe if top tier players had their own forum to discuss strategy where goldness mcgee and his friends with limited game knowledge could not jump in and throw in stupid troll comments like "OH LOL BUT GHOST AND INFESTOR OPOP" it would reduce the amount of trolling. I don't know. 8am rant sorry if it doesn't make sense, I'll edit when Im home in 6~hours. @ topic. internet has gone down the drain. many Wow-esque players. Sadness all around. Edit : I'm 2010 fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu Hahaha
