some quick question about paypal logistics

So currently I'm helping out /r/starcraft realize their dreams and getting MKP to MLG. nearly everything is sorted out, except ofc the actual donation link.

At this point i'm probably going to use paypal.

A few questions since I'm completely new at this so i dont' know what to expect

1) Should I be using a new account? If so, why should I be using a new account, as opposed to my old account? (new account can't link to my current bank account... so I'd have to transfer money to my old paypal account? That sounds complicated).

2) Should I be taking any precautions? Like emailing/calling paypal in advance to see if this will be allowed and letting them know what's going on?

3) Anything else I should be aware of?

New account with no linked bank account receiving thousands of dollars in a short time? Nope, not suspicious at all. Also unverified / non-linked bank accounts are capped at $2k.

I'd say stick with your verified account. If PayPal freezes it, a phone call usually fixes things up.

I actually think maybe you should open a new BANK ACCOUNT first. Then link your new PAYPAL account to it.

Then again, this depends on how formal you want to deal with it.

Doesn't paypal take a base fee + percentage fee for eachtime money is recieved? If everyone donates really small contributions it could get expensive

Why should I be doing that? Security issues? Or trust issues?

Only percentage. Also, if they pay as a "gift" payment, paypal takes no fees.
