This is an extra special blog because I've been promoted to silver, and I'm now on a sick losing streak because of ZvZ. ¬¬ If anyone has some tips they can give me for ZvZ, or a good build to do, much love. I'm currently doing speedling expand, which works.
I am now starting to do "quality practice" - instead of getting pissed about the game and switching race, I know I like this race, and I am looking on how to fix the things I am doing wrong.
For example, I lost to a 2rax bunker rush, and I noticed when watching the replay that if I move my overlord to the front of my natural, I can see it and prepare to pull the drones, and then I can hold it off. I just reviewed the replay of a game where I lost because of hellion drops, so I watched it to find out when hellions come out, which was 6:30. So I realised I can send my overlord in at 5:45, to see if the reactor is being built for his second factory, and then I can make some roaches/spines. I really find the learning process this way fun.
I like that, after a loss, you're so bummed out, and when you figure out how to beat something, it's a great feeling. Losing to it, and then beating it next time. It's just wonderful.
I am practicing my queen injects, and I am learning this trick http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=188932 to speed up my injects and I am hopefully going to get into a rhythm of doing it. I think tomorrow I will play the easy AI, and just inject on like, four bases or something, continually. I think I'll do that.
Then the next day I will work on creep spread whilst doing the above injects so my ZvP/T will be better.
And then the next few days just practice my builds whilst doing both of the above at the same time. Hopefully, my macro will improve a lot. These are the builds I'll practice until they're down. I am going to practice the P build until that is down, and a few days later, practice my T build until that is down, etc. while doing the above three things.
I think if I do this instead of laddering, I will become a much better player, and then when I go on the ladder and play a lot of games, it'll just further enforce the things I've learnt.
What do you guys think? Do you think there are better things I could be doing?

Working on your queen injects is HUUUUGE, the easiest way to beat someone is by out-macroing them and if you don't have enough larvae to use all your money then you're not going to be able to do that so I would definitely focus on queen injects and other basic macro mechanics. You will see the greatest results from improving your macro and then you can start working on micro tricks to get even better advantages.
In ZvZ I've been roach expanding pretty much 100% of the time just because it works so well. Most of the Z's I face (I'm diamond btw) are going for early ling/bling pressure or all-ins hoping to cripple my economy or kill me outright. So I usually get 6 lings, scout, then either throw down a roach warren or make more lings if they are rushing, I block my ramp with my first roaches and then expand once I have like 8 roaches and make a couple banes to counter a mass ling attack. Once they throw in all their lings and they die to my banes and roaches I'm so far ahead I can pretty much do whatever I want. If they expand then I do too and try to outmacro.
If you want a couple of my replays let me know, I just had a few ZvZ's in a row that showcase what I'm talking about.

I would like a few replays as I could get the build order from it, and watch what you do.

Honestly dude, if you need planning and "quality practice" to get out of silver, you probably don't have what it takes to get to diamond/masters. It just takes good mechanics to get diamond/masters, strategy comes after that.
You're way over thinking it. Really tired of these blogs. Someone struggling in silver/gold/plat, while practicing 2-4 hours a day, becoming a progamer is mind blowing.

I keep seeing your update in blogs and it is a bit irritating. I had no RTS experience and was in masters within three months of casually playing without doing any planning or "studying" at all. There are people that absolutely crush me. Like accordian wrote, if you need planning to get out of SILVER, you're going no where fast. I demoted myself to bronze to climb up a month back. And against even gold players I would do things like mass CC or planetary and only make scvs and win.
Also, I read this in a blog similar to this. You don't "decide" to be a progamer. The people who are professionals were passionate about the game and consequently became progamers.

Tbh though to the people replying, the fact that he is updating a blog regularly and working on it SHOWS passion for the game. I think it is a game anyone can learn and improve over time with enough drive.
However with that said, OP has to look forward to probably a 4-5 month wait to get into high diamond, and maybe over a year for high masters etc.
If he can stick with it that long then all power to him and I wish you good luck sir!
Also if you want some zerg advice I'll willingly help out (khazroul.213)
I'm only diamond but should be able to give some pointers or practice games!

You don't really have to read the blog if you don't want to, and know what the content within it is. I can just keep laddering at silver level, and win. I am winning now, quite easily in most games. I just want to start putting in the quality practice sooner. I don't see a problem with that. The only prior RTS experience I had before this was Battle for Middle-Earth 2 and that is a vastly different game.

He clearly got bored and gave up hehe. It was obvious. No one goes pro from bronze league because it would take an extremely long time just to get up to high masters and in that time people will lose heart and give up. Just enjoy it and play the game for fun. Eventually you will get up to a decent spot in masters and then you can decide to put in the effort to go pro since you'll be a lot closer and have you're foundations down so it will be a lot less frustrating.
