LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA. – August 29, 2011. – Evil Geniuses (EG), North America’s premier professional gaming team and a world leader in e-sports, announced today that Greg "IdrA" Fields will be switching to Terran, effective immediately.
“We're confident that Greg will quickly return to being one of the top Starcraft players, both in and outside Korea,” said Scott Smith, CEO of Evil Geniuses. “EG stands firmly behind Greg's decision.”
With the move, Fields will be returning to his roots, demonstrating his mastery of both biological and mechanical macroeconomics, with a defensive, expansion-minded playstyle.
"With the Marine and Siege Tank backbone, along with the game's best mech harass unit and mobile anti-air, there's no doubt in my mind that Terran is the strongest race right now," said Fields. "I'm pretty much only worried about Zerg's burrowed AoE and late-game spellcaster, and Protoss's late-game Robo and Stargate units."
As part of his new training regime, Fields will depart the EG pro house to train in South Korea and seek to qualify for local tournaments. He will not be returning to the U.S. in the foreseeable future. Latency was also a consideration for Field's switch.
"I'm confident that I can switch my skills over, and I think my teammates will be very helpful in training - especially Puma," said Fields. "I think recent results have shown that only Koreans can do well as Zerg...or Terran."
"I look forward to no longer complaining about other races, as the game is already in a pretty balanced state," said Fields. "Oh, and I'll be playing Brood War exclusively."
Founded in 1999, Evil Geniuses (Team EG) have grown to become a leading new media agency which specializes in contracting pro gamers, executing online and offline broadcasts, and developing unique marketing initiatives aimed at attracting and influencing gamers worldwide. With support from popular brands such as Intel, Monster Energy, Kingston HyperX, and others, EG are North America’s premier professional gaming team and a world leader in e-sports. Players and teams within EG, such as Justin “JWong” Wong, Greg “IdrA” Fields, and Isaac “Azael” Cummings-Bentley, have brought home championship trophies from every major gaming tournament circuit in the world and continue to be influential leaders of gamers everywhere. Parody.

No, but seriously, hope Idra gets his groove back. He's my favorite player, and I was really frustrated this weekend. Figured I'd try to find some humor in the situation. Zerg hwaiting!
I wasn't trolling, as defined as, "One who posts a deliberately provocative message to a newsgroup or message board with the intention of causing maximum disruption and argument." [Urban Dictionary]
Just trying to have some fun - I don't usually get the chance to write humor (although I see plenty of press releases). If y'all enjoyed, I'll do more in the future.
So, does anyone have any recommended Brood War Idra games? I've seen the Nony ones ofc, but sadly I didn't know anything about e-sports until SC2 beta. Gimme VODs!

hahaha well played, sir.
I found it hard to believe from the get-go and to be frank, would have been a bit disappointed, even as a terran player.
The moment Idra would switch to Terran that race would become the "weakest" one in SC2 overnight. Idra always plays the hardest to use & weakest faction / race in every game he touches.

Watch this one and you'll see why I'm so depressed every time I see or play PvZ in SC2.
PS. It's not Idra ofc, but you should at least recognize the commentators.
when I started I thought it was serious, but realized quickly it wasn't. That makes me sad really, I'd love to see idra switch to Zerg. I'm pretty sure he will improve his results etc and fits him better.
For a moment I thought he was switching back to Brood War when I read that last statement. My heart sank. But then the spoilers showed the obvious. Well played.
Honestly, even if its a troll it wouldnt surprise me if he did switch, and that Trimaster put the nail in that coffin, after watching that idra rage when losing to trimasters terran lol.
