Yesterday I asked myself why, if the world is going to pieces, with economic downturn and mass unemployment in the West, in the East there is quite a bit of pollution, people are working 16/7/365 and never party, instead of somehow trying to remedy it all or at least not contributing any more to it, am I spending my time on a website devoted to Starcraft? I've never even played the game beyond the Broodwar single player campaign. Should I not be doing something useful, studying, working, sporting, or watch silly korean films with friends? Could it be because browsing this website is actually good for me?
Teamliquid.net, arguably one of the nerdier places on the internet, harbours very curious people indeed, and then some. I will not disclose of which of the above I'm a card-carrying member, but rest assured, as my soul is in there somewhere, we are all siblings. Also note I didn't include the blog section in the above enumeration, as it is madness in a special class of its own. Adding to this pretty picture, the rise of SC2 has brought with it a brand new batch of the less emotionally stable, and I often wonder why it isn't welcomed by the old guard as a new member of the family. Probably because they all seem to have originated here, they do talk in memes, pictured photographs and caps all the time, but I'm sure basically they're all ok. On the other hand, there are the more classically loopy, the scary, the megalomaniacal, the fanboys and the people who take starcraft rather seriously. Combined with all these poor sods who devote their lives to riding the chaos and turning this and this into that and its prodigal child, it makes for a rather ecclectic gathering of the chiropteral-faecal emotionally imbalanced, which I am for some strange reason proud to be a member of.
Although I myself am a bit of a pathetic low-life, and at times can't help feeling awed by all those business-men, billionaires, beauty lovers, other assorted prophets and genii not adhering to a certain clan with which I came into contact via TL, it gives me a certain kind of perspective on things that I couldn't really imagine finding anywhere else.
Unlike Epimetheus, wondering at all that came hurtling out of his little jar, but like his wife, Pandora, who opened it a second time, I salute and thank you Team Liquid.

Here here. I am one of those newer members, joined with SC2. I was a SC1:BW gamer back in 99 and around there, but lost interest as I got older (into chicks). I had always known that there was some kind of a scene, but I never knew anything like this had existed before. If I had known, I would have been here during the great times, I promise you. Now I am here to for the new era and great times to come.
This is a great site and a great write-up man. I love this community. Even with the trolls and problem children, it is still my favorite website. I had always stayed away from forums because of trolls before this, so now that I have +1000 posts on a forum site is a huge milestone for me. A lot of the younger, newer people just think that all internet forums are the same. They will learn. The ones that really care will grow up, and we will have many more years of wonderful and interesting things come.
EDIT: Also, in your links, somewhere you should have fit in the Nada's Body thread. =)

4/5. This would have gotten a 5 if you would have worked the Nada's body or White-ra's face thread into your post somehow
I've come to know TL as the best SC2 site on the internet, but offering so much more. As I'm sure many have, I've been through every section on this site, and from the Generals to Tech Support and all the way over to the crazy world of blogs, I don't think there's a single person who could look through the site and never find anything worthwhile

I just love how those who may not be able / desire / retired from playing the game can still hang around and enjoy what feels like to me is a very well-rounded community with members of interests in lots of different games, ideals, etc.
Truly a great place to be. I with the legions of newer members would realise this. I have only been here since 2010, but I feel privileged to be a member of this website.
Great blog post man, Agreed
