This is my first blog and such, don't really expect anyone to read it -_- but I just wanted to get some stuff out.
Sometimes when laddering and I am on a winning streak (I am only in bronze so nothing special) I suddenly start to feel guilty about stealing people's ladder points. I feel bad that their loss is my gain, and although I don't like losing I sometimes want to quit a game so other people can collect an undeserved win. I don't know why, and I am probably the only one who feels like this I know its irrational and weird but thats how I feel on those rare winning streaks. More often than not though I get a normal win/loss ratio though.

Feel free to post your own guilty moments here, starcraft related or not, even if its just to share and get some guilt off your chest

EDIT: Silver now!

I started an EU account... I felt kinda bad playing the placement matches

Of course, once you're playing against equally skilled players you shouldn't feel bad (also, look at their profiles - if they've got dozens of wins and hundreds of points one games doesn't matter much).

I feel bad when someone tries dt rushing or some other blind build then they rage at me when I already have detection. The lols continue when they start bming but really, c'mon man it was obvious what you were doing because I, you know, scouted! I'm only high plat so it's fairly commonplace.
It is, in the end, whatever the Hell I want it to be, And when I'm through with it, it's gonna blow a hole, This wide, straight through the worlds own idea of itself. They're throwing bottles at your house. Come on, lets go break their arms.

Well yeah, I come across common cheesy strats like mass voidrays, mothership rush, 6 pooling, mass ravens, battlecruiser rush etc which i scout in time and defend. Then i check their profile, they have alot of points and have played alot more games than me so i dont feel so bad, but when i beat someone who evidently tries really hard to play a straight up macro game (and i NEVER cheese, I would feel way too guilty) and then i see they have less games than me etc i feel bad and have to reason with myself that i am helping them learn.

I get ladder guilt when I random terran against toss and completely crush them with the 1-1-1 all-in despite not even knowing the terran hot keys and executing it horribly. I feel like I should apologize or something.

I feel guilty when I stay inside despite the fact that the sun is shining. That said, the sun's been up (or rather - the earth's rotation creates the illusion thereof) for about 4 hours and I will go outside now because I just can't take it anymore. T_T

Sometimes I feel guilty when I don't GG and message the player afterwards and explain that I was just pissed or something.

I only feel guity when after spening 40-70mins of my life on a 1v1, i decimate my opponent who then leaves , no gg from him , i then msg said opponents afterwards and type "gg wp ". But they always think iøm being cocky or bm'ing when im just saying thanlkyou for a good long macro game. O.O
So what ,i just walk up to security and go: "Whats up bitches i'm huk!" or what... - HuK

I don't really care about them because most of the time he will probably learn of his mistakes so in a sence , if the guy lookup his mistakes he will improve ... losing is part of the game so o guess he will just learn anyway . Don't feel guilty about a win ... YOu win that's it !

It makes sense if you're a cheeser. If you play standard every game it doesn't. Think of it like this. If you lose on purpose, the opponent will think that he's better than he actually is, which will make him feel even worse when he is losing against players that are worse than you.

The issue here is probably that you think that you haven't put up enough effort to earn beating those players. Because I play BW, where you need a lot of effort just to win your first game, I can't relate.

Start looking at the game more scientifically and fine-tune your play. This will both improve your game and make you feel like you've put some actual effort into the game. If this doesn't remove the guilt, you are just not competitive and should quit.

Why do you consider it stealing? Its not like your opponent owns the ladder points. If you win a game it is almsot entirely due to your own skills and/or strategy.

I think you need a diffrent mind set. During the game the other guy is the enemy and you must do everything in your power to defeat the enemy. After the game is the time to be the good guy and to be respectful. But during the game, go for the throat my man.

You know, this makes sense. I'm not particularly competitive so I don't feel like losing affects me as much as it might do other people (especially after seeing all the rage and reading about it), and so I feel like i should save that person a little rage. I also feel like I should encourage standard play so if i lose a macro game I 'gg wp' and leave, but if i am cheesed and lose I don't feel they deserve a 'gg' as they have no desire to improve. Or that is how i see it. But I have been watching a lot of pros and analyzing my play and where i can improve, i try focus on a certain aspect each time i play - eg concentrate on not missing injects etc
And don't get me wrong, I enjoy winning and moving up the ranks and practicing and trying to improve, but yeah. Thanks though

I only felt guilty when i 7pooled a protoss on shakuras. I never cheesed but i tried to do it more to switch it up and learn more about cheeses, but i'm just not made for that. I was close to just giving him the win, eventhough he said himself that it's a valid opening.
