Let's be brief. It's my first day at my new internship, and I want to make a good impression.
I've been assigned the task of finding old 990 forms for ALEC (American Legislative Exchange Council). Old, meaning older than 2002 (I need to find the 2001 and older 990 forms). I've been googling for almost an hour and I can't find anything older than 2002.
Anyone have experience searching for these forms? I've been using the regular 990 search engines I found on google (nccs, guidestar, economic research institute) and none of them have given me the 2001 form. If anyone knows of a good database for these kinds of files, that'd be a huge help to me.

that's a 990 form from 2001, but it's not ALEC's. it's not even filled out.

One way would be to request them from the organization or from the IRS but looks like that can take a while and may cost money. There's probably an easier way... Going to keep digging a little
