I actually love the switch and also how e-sports is actually becoming more of a sport. Teams acquiring the best players they can. Just like basketball or anything else, players take a favorable offer because they have earned it and it presents them with financial security.

I was hurt but after seeing a thread that made my Rerrul, I am fully healed ( first thread in the last 1-2 years?).
As much as I hate to see Huk is out of TL, I don't blame anyone. Best of luck for Huk in the future. I maybe feel somewhat bitter for the fact that TL doesn't have any big sponsor. TLAF to say the best is just a super small company in which can not compare to what EG is getting now.
Come on TL, get yourself some big ass companies to be your sponsors.

rekrul is completely right.

This is pretty big for the non-Korean scene. This wont be the first time something like this happens.

To anyone throwing around words like traitor or sellout: Shut the fuck up.

This is a benchmark moment for non-korean players in the Starcraft world. The first time a major non-Korean player is switching from one big team to another 'big' team for big money. The very fact that this competition exists between major sponsored teams contesting to sign the top players is evidence of just how amazing the SC2 world will get.

It just shows that the raw marketing value of a player is there. How do you expect non-Korean players to compete at a Korean level unless they can focus on SC2 alone? They can't unless they have financial comfort. Now that comfort is coming in. Also, I don't know the specifics but I'd be willing to bet over half of his salary will be going towards paying for his travel expenses to all the tournaments: Which means more HuK for you guys to watch.

No one is to blame here. Not EG for having too much money, not TL for not having enough money (yet), and certainly not HuK. This is simply the way the world works.

As far as HuK is concerned: HuK is the most dedicated non-Korean player I have ever seen...in SC1 or SC2. And while his view of the world and how it works is a little too romantic for my tastes, the man has dedication. And while it was annoying at the time how he consistently rejected my offers to take him out in Seoul, I have crazy respect for it now. He worked hard to get where he is and he deserves every dime he can possibly get.

Not that anything I just wrote matters, because if you just read it either a. you already knew all this or b. you're a dumb fucken fan boy(girl).

Good luck to HuK in the future. And more importantly good luck to EG because only having two talented players on your team isn't going to win you any super bowl rings.

P.S. TLO is a pimp.

Completely agree. People need to learn how shit works in the real world. Lots of blind hate being thrown around this issue.

Next year: team liquid buy's out Huk, Idra, Puma, and Nestea's contracts.

But yea Rekrul, most people could relate and wouldn't call him a sellout. However, I would rather the shining beacon of foreigner starcraft in korea at the moment be from a team I want to support. Been rooting against EG for so long, feels weird with Huk there t.t;

Well written and ... to the point i guess is the right way to put it. At the end of the day you can understand where all the bitterness is coming from. HuK has a massive following borne out of the TL community; and EG pretty much exists in direct rivalry with liquid. I'm not saying posts like traitor/sellout are correct or warranted, but it's coming from fans that do feel a little bit betrayed.

Rekrul, you are a gentleman and a scholar lol. And yea, the post is spot on but if fans want to grieve a little and vent for a bit, I think that should be OK. As long as we're not in GSL October and we're still talking about how HuK sold out and should be representing oGs-TL in code S.

He's finally felt the need to settle down and start a family. He married a single mother, and he takes her and his new child out to see Broadway musicals because he feels they need more culture. He also decided he would only drink scotch from now on; a real man's drink.

I don't get all this discussion about EG not being able to develop players and not caring about player development and only PR when they just spend all this money on a house in AZ and now are spending money to ship three players to Korea to live together. If anything, they're the only foreign team (besides Liquid) that seems to be caring about player development at this point.
