When I talked about telling a guy you want to rape him mom, Im not trying to say it was cool or manly or any shit like that. I also said in that sentence that you'd probably end up gaming together with him the next day. Why ? Because back then no one really cared about some stranger you're never going to meet calling you a faggot or a noob or threating your family. This is the idea im trying to get across. It was normal for bnetters online to be total dicks to each other. Even amongst friends. The BGH community that was Marlboro is a very good example of this. There were about 60 or so regulars in that channel and its a guarantee that anytime you went there, you'd see two or more engaged in a heated name calling shitstorm because someone on a team didnt pull their weight or some shit like that. Then someone would come along and call for an inny and boom everyone is playing together again. No one is crying about bm and blogging about it. And no one ever left crying and saying they wont come back or any kinda shit like that. This is what I miss. Today, you gotta walk on eggshells with these new kids. What the hell do you care that someone you're never gonna meet irl doesnt gg or call you fag.

If you leave without a gg, they've successfully trolled you, and if you go around extractoring and what not it just gives them time to talk more shit, so either way they get what they want out of an offensive gg if you dont just gg out. I dunno, one time I got an exasperated "fuck your mother ~_~" from some Korean after I drew the game out after his offensive GG. People generally don't like having their time wasted.

It's merely a tradition that I wish would lose its fire. I don't mind GG in and of itself, but the fact people argue over it is pretty bad. It's really up to the individual interpretation, and it isn't even consistent across games. Leaving is the sign of giving up, GG isn't. Oh lord, it isn't...And don't let authority control what you do; just because a progamer does it doesn't mean that it's wrong or right.

In the old days, there was no concept of "bm" in the manner it exists today. Who says that I'm crying because I don't want to play with idiots who enjoy hurling stupid insults at each other? I mean, I guess it's whatever if you like that, but don't criticize me because I like friendly people.

The moderation free environment of the old bnet created one on the most interesting online communities ive ever had to pleasure of spending time with. You just have to not give a shit. There was just sooo much personality there. ICCUP by comparison, although a great server, really has no personality because you could get banned for bullshit like calling someone a noob so there are no really interesting interactions because no one can really speak their mind.

In a tourney it's a different thing altogether, because it's not an anonymous ladder matchup.

What I do hate is when people start talking to you saying GG whether or not you said GG yourself. That's just BM in my eyes.
