I hate the "____ Hwaiting!" as some others apparently do, i thought it was just me. It feels like a lame attempt at being funny/cool with another language. I also hate the "me gusta" meme and pretty much any other "look at me i use foreign terms because i'm hip" phrases.
Heh, but whatever, it's pretty irrational and i bet i've even used hwaiting before. :D
Edit: Oh, and this isnt really a meme, but i really hate when people write a post using complicated words like it's their fucking english exam. It's so annoying when they could just write in normal talking language, but instead decide to be clever and use a thesaurus for every goddamn word.

It was okay when it was just like twenty people in an OSL finals thread saying it, but now it's everywhere....

At least, when people use that term, you know you better avoid them. And it has become somewhat of a religion. "I'll do this and that...because/in the name of ESPORT!" That's so dumb.
The smiley with the Japanese character in it is completely retarded as well. Really makes me wish there was an ignore function to block those kind of people.

New theory - this dispute with the phrase "________ hwaiting!" is a recent phenomenon:

I'm honestly genuinely surprised many people have such distaste for the phrase and want to figure out when this happened. Btw hate away if you don't like it, I guess I can understand your reasoning now, though I don't see it becoming a bannable meme any time soon.

The esports shouting is the only annoying thing :l

Hm I just did that with Chef's post. I guess I learned something here
I didn't see any harm in that, because it is a positive reply, I found it a really funny post and nobody reacted to it yet.
I mean I really understand people finding tl:dr as sole reply annoying, because it's kind of a negative reply, but when you see a post that made you laugh, and it got no replies, isn't it better to post that you liked it than to not post? On the other hand, while thinking more about it, "this" is also a positive reply and I find that one very annoying.

I love hwaiting as well, although it's probably because there are sooo many people who don't remember it from bw. Such good memories ^^

I remember hearing it way earlier than BW though, i dont think it's limited to broodwar? Some of my friends who dont even know what starcraft is often say Hwaiting, which might be part of the reason why i hate it.

No it's not. It originated from a now out-of-business Cell Phone company with the initials KTF. The company used the initials to say "Korea Team Fighting" for the 2002 World Cup Korean Soccer Team. It has since been shortened to "fighting."

my biggest pet peeve is when people replace please with "plox pl0x plx" etc.

The "insert name" Fighting or Hwaiting! is the one that bothers me the most.
