From a linguist's standpoint, the fact that some words/memes are banned in a forum in order to promote orderly discussion is fascinating-- we often think of ordinary conversation as the primordial engine that drives language change, and there is no real equivalent to this in ordinary spoken conversation. Society kind of bans swear-words, but its not really directly comparable. | ||
