So I finally got off my lazy butt and put StarCraft II on my brand new top of the line gaming PC setup. Huzah! While it downloads I figured I could get on my laptop (which is a piece of junk) and play some Touhou, some Umineko, maybe write a blog, and I could be playing in a couple of hours. Right?

WRONG.

26% done and it is STILL GOING. It's been going since three in the afternoon. It's now quarter to eleven here. That's almost eight hours. And it claims it has over twenty hours to go.

What the hell, Blizzard. Seriously, what the hell.

EDIT: Once again forgot my music. Replies are especially nice tonight because I am angry and would like someone to vent with.

When I bought SC2, I got it in the disc form so if for some weird reason needed the disc I would have it.
However, when I put in the disc to install it, at 84% it just stopped, and said that there was an error with one of the files on the disc...
I then had to cancel the installation, and download it off the website, install the gam, and then patch it, which took an additional 6 hours along with all the time I spent installing it the first time.

ya. i remember when i was downloading it, it lasted from like 3 to the next morning.

Ah, the downsides to distributing everything through torrents... nobody's ever seeding.

well correct me if i'm wrong but i dont think blizzard is letting anyone seed their torrents through their client, blizzard servers are the only seeds. Just look at your upload when you download SC2 i bet you're not sending anything to anyone.

You can disable peer-to-peer and potentially see a large increase in speed.

When I tried that what I got was a large DECREASE in speed...last thing I need.

Depends on what time i think.

If you look at the detailed information on the download, blizzard has 1-2 servers pushing out the game. If those are online and you are connected to 1, disabling peer to peer will make your download speed greatly increase for 2 big reasons.

1, your connecting to a dedicated blizzard server, and

2, You are no longer uploading what you have to who knows how many people.

Uploading on the peer to peer is whats killing you, i dunno what times the blizzard linked download servers are online, but when they are you can hit 1mb a second easy with peer to peer off. I keep my peer to peer off when using blizzard down loader and its always a vast improvement from peer to peer- once again, when blizzards server is online.
