I have a concept for an SC2 gameshow that I would like to air on a weekly routine. The concept is as follows:
Have you seen that show "So you think you can dance?" ?
no?
Me neither. Never was much for those silly reality game-shows.
BUT!
I like how snazzy that name sounds, and I have come to the realization that people like to watch streams for 3 reasons:
-they like to watch people coach other people/pick up tips themselves
-they like to see creative/unique playstyles and builds
-they like to see really solid play, but at the same time really love horrible play.(one's funny, one's impressive)
So... I thought to myself... "How can I combine these all into one epic show?"
Lady and Gentlemen, I present to you:
"So you think you can coach?"
The game-show where we pit 2 diamond/Masters/GM players against eachother in a BoX series... where the have to coach a bronze player to win for them.
We'll have a 32 player all-bronze level tournament, where the top 8 are split between the two coaches, 4 and 4. From there it's on the coach to coach their players to victory against eachother.
How will the bronze players fare? Will they dominate and surpass the expectations of the crowd? Or will the coaches rage-quit trying to show them how to magic-box against thors?
The bronze players have to play as their main race. The coaches have to step out of their comfort zone and instruct them on how to play a match-up they may not know how to play.
There will be two straight-up rounds, where the coach can't see anything but what the bronze player can see, as well as two no-holds-bar rounds where both coaches can see everything, and have permission to blatantly inform their bronze counter-part of exactly what's going on.
1 player from each team will be selected for each round, if the matches end up a tie, we go into Sudden death round: Each coach selects a bronze player from their team and they have to play a 2v2 vs the other coach/bronze player.
Winner takes the pot, and can divvy up the funds based on how well they think all their students did.
I also have a lot of creative ideas to spice up the mix like: celebrity casters coming on the show to cast episodes, as well as pro vs pro where the coaches are pro SC2 players. Another thing I'd like to eventually work in is a "creative build round" where win/loss doesn't matter, but after the match we take a poll from the audience and the most popular vote as to who's build was the most creative/stylistic/awesome is the winner. Other ideas include: a custom map round, where we find a random/silly/simple custom map from B.net and have the coaches coach their teammates on how to play it, etc.
Basically, what I want to know is:
