so i just feel like OSTs for games and movies are pretty epic to listen to sometimes and i wanna get more to listen to.
I've been listening to the CoD MW2 OSt which is super epic shit man, makes me feel like i should be a soldier and save the world and epic shit is going down. i mean listen to this, its so crazy.
i also love the soundtrack to games like Icewind dale, its so atmospheric and really really fits with the icy fantasy world environment of Icewind Dale

the best soundtrack of all time IMO, Donkey kong country 2 soundtrack. Have it on my music device. Its pretty ballin when im on shuffle and randomly some DK comes on.
There is something about this entire OST. While I did pick the two that touch me the most, the entire soundtrack is stunning, stellar and just superb. It's quiet, subtle and clear.

Forever one of my favourite songs, I think I wrote something about it awhile back: Just listen to this gorgeous song, you probably recognize it, listen to its sense of of whimsical drifting and feeling of an eternal travelling of the distant and insecure mind. It's this song that empowers vulnerability and loneliness, yet ironically accompanying with a melodious tune that soothes the fears of being forever and sadly, alone.
Indeed this entire song is just profound to me. Maybe it's just an adolescent need of mine to feel something in song. But this song has a lingering feel of deepness, of thought. I feel obliged to ponder when I hear this song, the need to form ideas in clouds and grasp the wind as more than just a phenomenon of this spinning world.
The keeness of the violins, the dips of low keys from the piano, everything about this song just feels right, feels quiet, comfortable and chillingly beautiful. Stunning like a portrait of a stilled window or reflection of an empty city in a dirty puddle.

In this song, you can feel the prominence of the piano. It's touching hint of each note as it is accompanied by what I assume are violins, smooth as pure water, but as still as morning lakes. It picks up later on, a former introduction of other instruments drive the song into this whole theme of rush, prestige and royalty. Towards the end, you can feel yourself being pulled into another part of the story, of this song and it reaches the final tip of the mountain (3:03) before all is just left quiet, keeping us to imagine what is after that creeping silence.

Oh, additionally, there's the Symphony Seed Destiny OST (Gundam Seed Destiny). While the anime was a hit or miss, the songs were not.

What I enjoy the most about this OST is the more elegant songs it has in comparison to the one I posted above. These songs feel more mature, engaging and set more to guide a movie than compliment it. I'm speaking more in context with "After the Glory" song that is just strong, mighty, loud and almost angry! Yet it fills the ears with suspense, rage and a rush of compelling intertwining of instruments both brass, percussion and of course the violins (which sorta play the background contrast of sound in comparison to the more prideful brass instruments). The ending is a real twist (around 2:30) and totally create a more enlightening atmosphere of success, a sort of "we made it to the end" change in the tone and theme of the song.

Orb is a bit different. It's more cheerful, uplifting and its beginning is quite different, strange even to what one usually expects. It soon falls into a comfortable normality that one can expect and enjoy (though the beginning of it was rather pleasant). It's hard to explain this song, but I believe I wrote something about it before: The beginning is almost of a Christmas glee. So light, lifting before the violins bring us back to this earth of beauty and exceptional teasing of sound. It's almost like a tide, pitching only a little higher as it enters the next chapter with the bellows of the trumpets. The trumpets, equally, feel compelled to do their part as they progress the song even further with harsh and proud notes. When everything feels like it hits its peak, the true top of it all, the trumpets end, the violin quiet down like kids at a sleepover and we are in for another build-up of sweetness. Before the sun rises and before we are awakened by this sweet interval of hushed violins, the trumpets call for our attention as the young kids they are; energetic and full of glee as were the violins at the beginning, coy even. Everything mellows down and the sun lowers without one last glimmer of the trumpets brimming as the finale settles.
I'll stop, wall of text, but I really suggest the two I've listed :3 *Check out both Stellar and Shyer Soldier in this same OST, I removed them to avoid clutter, but they deserve equal interest as the two I've listed here D: _____________________________
If you're looking for that edgy feeling of Call of Duty, check out E.S Posthumus, I'm sure you have, but it doesn't hurt to list them anyways. They do a lot of great hits and songs for a lot of movies.

Oh, another obvious OST that will be suggested is Tron. I don't personally like it, but a lot of people do for some reason.

Halo 2 Theme song is pretty amazing. The third is more classical and the first theme song is good, this one has a bit guitar it that makes it feel just so much more badass, awesome and wicked!

for OSTs i always go with the stuff i have played and thus have some sort of mental connection to the audio.. right now, i cycle between PPPPPP and the Spelunky Soundtrack lol. Before that, i had Braid, way earlier some Darwinia..
For the epic stuff - have you checked out the Battlestar Galactica soundtrack? TLO played this on his stream regularly and at least all the viewers digged it. It's a pretty good one i guess.
