*Sigh* It seems my Protoss woes will never end. This is a custom 1v1 that I’m playing against a diamond Protoss, and I roll Protoss myself, so we have a good old-fashioned (i.e. somewhat boring at the beginning) PvP. I try really hard to make sure that I keep up with unit production, as that seems to be my biggest problem with Protoss. And I actually do a good job of that. I also do a good job of applying pressure, moving around the map, and generally making sure my opponent has to stay in his base and has difficult expanding. Obviously, this works as a good scouting tool, too, as I always know if/when he’s moving out.

The problem is that I do too good of a job with unit production, neglecting to tech up as I reach a second expansion, and then a third. I do engage a few times, but each time it seems he has just enough units to hold me off, so I retreat. In the meantime, he’s able to tech just about however much he wants, so even though the match ends up 4 bases against 2, I still lose. If that’s not n00bish, I don’t know what is.

Lessons learned:

1. Okay, production is good, now don’t forget to tech while building up an army.

2. If you see the opponent going for void rays, it’s pretty much necessary to attack before they get up to 6 or 7-ish. Don’t just sit back and let them mass the things. That = death.
