So, I get off of work at 5, after being there since 7 friggin-a.m., and I am super excited to make cheeseburgers! Except I then realize I never took the burger patties out of the freezer, and they are like little ice-blocks.
I am disappointed, so I have the old laziness debate-- should I bother cooking something, or just eat a few bowls or cereal, or possibly just have a bagel, or perhaps yet another tuna salad sandwich/grilled cheese (my usual lunch)? I decide I should cook something, if only because I just got back from vacation and my sleep schedule is completely screwed up, so I am trying to stay awake til around 11.
I have just finished my meal and am stuffing my face as I type-- fettuccine alfredo with mushrooms and delicious steak and fresh chopped tomatoes, and real parmesan cheese.
IT'S AMAZING!!!!1!!111 (ones for emphasis)
So I made this blog to tell you all-- cook some really delicious legit food tonight instead of grabbing whatever is easiest! It's so worth it, even if you're tired! ^_^
EDIT: Dessert = Coffee ice-cream with crushed twix bars. :D

|
do you think the same way after cooking done? personally, it seems only worth it because of how good food tastes with an empty stomach
|
Sounds great man. The best meals are when you are super hungry.
|
Agreed. Too often have I just made a frozen pizza only to look on it with regret. Take the time to enjoy your food, especially if you have any skill at cooking. Much like a good macro game, it's more work but it's more satisfying to succeed.
|
Well, lol. I enjoy cooking for itself, as well as for the end product. So I would say it's worth it even after the fact. :D
|
Ah, the joys of cooking... Big ups to you! I have to confess Im a little jelly you can afford steak on a regular workday. As a student, I can only afford to buy good meat on special occassions
|
This thread needs more pork based deliciousness.
...Just sayin'.
|
Coffee Ice Cream + Twix sounds fucking amazing. imba dessert.
I had a cheeseburger tonight \o/, though your dinner sounds a lot better, rofl.
Now I'm hungry! It's almost Saturday, though, which means Korean BBQ in a couple of days!

I have just one question after reading this blog--what exactly would constitute "fake" parmesean cheese?
|
The food you cooked sounded delicious, but I lost all desire in eating it when you mentioned mushrooms. I fucking hate mushrooms. Make more cheeseburgers. In-N-Out burgers FTW!

Yeah that motherfucker says 100% real but no one believes that crap anyways.
Maybe Fresh would have been a better word.

No fucking pictures? What kind of a monster are you? I love food too @____@

Got my wisdom teeth pulled yesterday. Can't eat a thing delicious yet
But as soon as I am able to, I am going to cook so many things, I can't wait.
|
Awesome decision to make your own food! Inspired me to make some nice beef stew with potatoes, carrots, and a few lentils added in for texture. Like the stew I read about in fiction books that makes me hungry :> Cheers to healthy home cooking :D

Uhh that is incorrect. It IS legit parmesan, just the elitist cheese snobs dont like to see their priced food turned into a cheapened mass consumption product, hence a certain distaste for the packaging.

Yayyyyy all the hungry people.
I would have included pics, but I ate it too fast. >o> Seriously, lol, didn't think of pics til I was done writing, and then my food was almost gone.
Also, first time I've been able to have steak since New Year's. (Definitely cannot regularly!)
And by fake I mean pretty much the Kraft cheeze dust, instead of a fresh(ly aged?) block of the stuff. :D
Rkie: That sucks. Eat some ice-cream though! :D
CodECleaR: WEWT! Homemade deliciousness! ^_^ Gj cooking for yourself tonight!
|
Congrats on your meal! There's always this feeling of satisfaction I get after making a nice meal . It cannot be generated from eating out or eating a quick meal lol. Unfortunately, I am in a rush so I am going to quickly eat a sandwich plus some yogurt-nut mix
|
I hate making myself food even though I end up doing it anyways.
I usually feel great when I get to make food for other people and they end up enjoying it, makes me feel like I did something special
....now I'm hungry and I'm too lazy to get out of my bed, thanks.

LoL... Maybe that just means 100% of the "cheese-like product" has been grated? The phrasing is interesting.
EDIT: Wow I should learn to read the shit in the huge red box. I only read the topmost "100%" :X
I made stuffed roasted red peppers today. Delicious! Easily one of the best meals I've ever cooked for myself. I used whole wheat rice and lentils that I cooked a day ago in the place of beef or whatever meat eaters use. Baby seal flesh? I dunno. Anyway, try some of those out. Very easy to make, delicious, extremely healthy and satisfying.

I think he considers "real" parmesan as parmigiano reggiano, aka what real Italians eat.
|
I wouldn't eat that Kraft shit either. :0
|
I got all excited for the cheeseburgers, and was disappointed you didn't make any. But then you made a dish I absolutely love (minus the mushrooms) so I forgive you.
...but next time include pictures. >:O
|
Red is my girlfriend, but we live accost the country from each other! cant wait to get some of her good cookin!
|
disappointed by the lack of pictures
but i'm happy that you cooked something for yourself and enjoyed it
|
food blog without pics = blasphemy
|
Sounds good.
Last night I made some Mexican rice + Mexican flavored chicken with cilantro for some delicious taco deals.
I also love food.
|
Omg, i hate when people do this to me haha.

Dont be ridiculous. Even if it is legit parmesan (which I HIGHLY doubt), by grating it before consumption it loses a ton of taste. Same with pepper, any spice basically. It has nothing to do with being an elitist snob, everybody who knows a thing about good food and cooking knows you should always take the whole product and slice/grate/chop/whatever it yourself for best taste. And especially with parmesan, the grated stuff tastes like ass compared to grating it freshly yourself.
|
Aw you can totally grill frozen patties. The ones at school are all frozen but come out just fine. Personally id never freeze at all if I wanted the best taste. They're gonna get a bit watery when you defrost. Gj on an epic meal tho. Burgers tomorrow! Pick up some bacon, Swiss and more mushrooms and you're set.
