But since Battle.net .2 won't let you check what kind of player joins the lobby it's really impossible to tell what you're gonna get(input limit reached T.T). Anything between a damn good masters player to that noobest of noobs from bronze. I've even had the pleasure of playing a PvP with only my mouse vs somebody in silver league and almost losing. Wonderful times can be had in the pressure free fun house that is the custom game.
And then you get a noob, but not just a normal one...this guy was in a class of his own. Generally when playing vs those guys in the lower leagues I try to take it real easy, and talk to my opponents. Tell them when I'm coming to attack or expand, suggest paths for them to take and whatnot. So that was my plan for this game.
First off I totally forgot my zealot, and didn't have my door blocked till after the 5 minute mark xD, I also didn't scout (which in hindsight would have been awesome) so I gave him my thanks for not just 6 pooling me. He responds with "I don't know how to 6 pool".
At this point something tipped me off that he had some major issues with the game....so I tell him I'm coming to poke him with some sentries, and once at his base notice he still has no expansion, nearly 8 minutes in O.o Walk up the ramp to meet around 12 lings and 2 banes, don't lose a single unit and he leaves. But there was something just weird, I had to go check his build.
He went gas first. As in he built and extractor BEFORE a drone. This guy seriously takes the cake for dude who has no idea wtf he's doing, but still has fun with it.
The best part was the chat after the game though. He's apparently been doing this stupid early gas in most of his games, doesn't know what teamliquid is, doesn't know who day9 is, and doesn't even know that there is a pro aspect to the game.
I cleared all that up for him, and he thanked me for being what he was waiting for to make him better.
The best feeling though was knowing that instead of him just playing some more until he just gets pissed off at being bad, doesn't learn anything, and drops the game completely, I've created a potential new fan of the glory that is Starcraft 2
So next time you're messing around in a custom game and meet up with that noobiest of noobs, talk to him after the game, give him some ways to learn how to get better, and give him some motivation.
Feels Good Man.
