2) The principal at my school wants to arbitrarily change our block schedule to four days on one day all classes. He’s been pushing to do it since he arrived, and in 2003 a proposal was struck down by a staff vote. But now he’s decided to attempt to re-enact his proposal via executive power. He’s essentially told staff and students that he doesn’t care about AP students, and that regular students need to be able to see their teachers 3 days a week all the time. (at the cost of educational time lol) He’s received flak from just about everyone. Teachers would need to re-work their curriculums for relatively minor things. There is nothing that shows it would have benefit, but there are many substantive problems with it. I’ve set up a website to stop it at https://sites.google.com/site/saveblockatchs/https://sites.google.com/site/saveblockatchs/ . I think I’ll get a domain for it tomorrow. I’ve got a sample letter which a friend of mine wrote, and we’re going to attempt to petition the school board. Probably even try to go to a meeting in ~10 days. Any advice for anything to add would be nice. (A fellow tler of mine that attends at the same school had a bizarre conversation with the principal regarding it, I’ll ask for permission to post it, and if I can it’ll be a laugh lol)
3) Electronics: Because I regularly fix all of my relatives’ computers they think I’m a computer geek. (Ok, admittedly there is some truth to that.) Unfortunately, they don’t know anything about computers so they tend to get me best buy gift cards. I have $50 worth. Last time I got my Logitech speakers, which are like 30 bucks on Amazon for 56. But heck, I couldn’t find anything else good to buy. Turns out they are also good on bestbuy.com so I guess I could get something from there. In any case, I went to best buy in person, and they really didn’t have anything in stock. They said they might get the death adder in tomorrow. But it’s sort of far. Meh. Anyways, overall point is that I’ve finally narrowed down a couple items in my list of things to buy.
At bestbuy: Logitech
Razer Stuff
Steelseries
a. Headphones: I do need earbuds. I might end up getting the steelseries headset earbud things with the mic. Seems like a pretty reasonable deal. Comparable to cx300s. And I do want some sort of earbuds: I don’t have any non $2 ones at the moment. When my px100s break I might get some newer nicer sennheiser or steelseries headset, but for the moment the px100s are fine. And the sound quality on my Logitech headset mic is reasonable for chatting/(casting this summer? )
b. Monitor: I’ll wait until a 23 or 24”monitor is on sale for a great price, and try to get it for 150 or less. The only thing right now is my mom wants a monitor. In one sense she is looking for the monitor I have, which is 190 bucks. And I can get a 24”hanns g 1080p for 160 on Newegg. But it is tacky to give somebody a gift of something that you own and get something else. (It’s her birthday in a week.) Anybody have a good deal for like a 19 or 20” monitor?
c. Keyboard: Keep current, Qsenn DT-35, or Mechanical. My train of thought regarding this is.
i. My keyboard has issues
ii. But it is of reasonable build quality, and I am used to it
iii. I need to spend around 30 dollars to get a keyboard that I like any better
iv. At this price point a DT-35 is just pretty awesome because it’s all progamerey, a reasonable price, and looks kewl.
v. I can’t tell a difference between a 30 dollar keyboard and an 80 dollar keyboard if neither are mechanical, so the next progression would be to get a mechanical keyboard. But I’ve never tried one, and I’ll be at college where noise could be a problem in just over a year. I’d need to try at least some mechanical keyboard before committing to that.
d. Mouse: Here is a picture of my hand in relation to an 8 ½ by 11 sheet of paper. I’m trying to figure out what size would be best for my hand/grip. I am leaning towards a Logitech, a Razer, or a steelseries kinzu. But it depends on how they are ergonomically. And I would like to try at least one of them. :/ I don’t see the utility in spending over 50 bucks in a mouse to be honest. But you can convince me otherwise >.> Oh, and as a digression the soundtrack to the latest star trek movie is sooo epic. I listen to it while laddering like all the time :D
4) Exercise. OK, I’m not buff. Bench pressing 50 pounds seems pretty weak. But at least 25 seems easy. And it didn’t 3 weeks ago. Not at all. My arms have grown from skeletal to small, same with torso. I’m consuming an ungodly number of calories. My metabolism is darn fast hehe. I’ve gained ~5-6 pounds in 3 weeks. A health 5-6 pounds. In fact it’s sort of disturbing I can still see my ribs, and my arms and legs are getting all muscular. Right now I have scar tissue from my surgeries in my back which is getting all broken up, which is a sort of good pain. It hurts really badly, but the relaxation of tension is great. Also, the muscle growing around the rods in my back creates an intense itching, but it’s worth it. Additionally both my legs and arms are growing fast enough my skin is getting tight. Very tight lol. Also, story time. Although I’m not strong by any means I’ve been amazed at my strength a few times now. A couple with near catastrophic results, lol
a. I took a two pack of milk at Costco out of the refrigerator, but pulled so hard up I nearly through them across the aisle
b. Almost threw a metal stepstool at my fridge
c. Picked my grandma in her wheelchair entirely off the ground, instead of just letting her roll over a bump. (Admittedly she is only like 80 pounds and I was exerting myself as hard as I could)
d. Funniest one right here. When I get home my weak, but (formerly) less weak brother screws with me by holding the door shut. Then I have to push it to open it, or go around the back. He hasn’t done it for a couple weeks, but when he did it on Friday I just braced up against the door and pushed him off it. He fell down, and had a fun time explaining to my mom what had just happened. In any case, that’s it. (Everybody should do starting strength!!)
