Copenhagen Games 2011 is taking place in Denmark this weekend.
I arrived on friday at the copenhagen games and much to my discontent saw that there were very few games being played that day. The event struggled with the playes being able to hear Khaldor commentate the games, internet connections being disrupted and low ram on the machines.
For my part I saw no SC2 on that day apart from Morrow duking it out on what semed to be his manager Bumblebee's PC at the event.
Noteworthy stands:
Razor Gaming: Headsets, mice, mousepads, keyboards you name it.
Overclocking: Overclocked machines running Crysis 2 with SLI/Crossfire (didn't see the GFX)
Cocio also had a stand where they sold their delicious chocolate milk (cocio crashing occured later ).
Portal 2 and FIFA consoles setup for visitors
Some racing game and mobile phone games.
Coca Zero girls handing small icecold cola to geeks on a hot summerday. Wearing hotpants. Nuff said, pics coming if I take some tomorrow.
Misc:
There were table tennis, pool and foosball setup throughout the LAN event for gamers to use.
Overall a hall with good bathroom facilities, good amount of space
Day #2
Games
I arrived around 4 PM and saw that there games were being shown on the main scene. They were still duking out the group stages and no final brackets had been made yet.
Grubby vs Lalush
I didn't get to see the first game, but the second was a lot of dancing between two armies on Tal'darim altar until grubby did huge amounts of damage to Lalush's worker line with Dark Templars.
Grubby played very well against a Lalush who made too many mistake in the last game, trading huge amounts of roaches for a robotics bay and nexus. Grubby swiftly counters in the last game and forces a GG out of Lalush. Overall Grubby quite solid, and his wife was DASHING!
Fuser vs. oGsMC
I saw Fuser awesome SCV surrond on oGsMC's stalker and the roaring battlecry that followed it lol. MC's "hello ^^" when spotting the proxy rax on Shakura's was also hilarious, even though Fuser immediately GG'ed out afterwards. Too bad the games were so short, but at least it was entertaining.
Drafter vs. Osho
First game went straight into Osho's favour after not doing enough damage with the big group of hellions he had and osho ended up swarming Drafter's fast expand on Metalopsis.
Second game went slightly different as the blue hellions were effective in scaring away just about all the units at Osho's expansion until a perfect flank surronded Drafter's marine/blue flame hellion perfectly resulting in a very effective counter attack and winning the series 2-0 to Osho.
Morrow vs. Ai (Protoss)?
Morrow took out an unknown to me Protoss from Alien Invasion in the first game on Xel'Naga caverns with huge amounts of burrow/claw roaches and supplementing corruptors to kill the Colussus numbers. Amazing creep spread, macro and some excellent diversions with roaches. Second game featured a cancelled hatchery followed up by a large roach force (7 roaches) forcing a GG out of the poor toss on Shakura's Plateau.
After this I didn't see anymore games, as it was already quite late and I wanted to get home for some food.
Photos
So far I've got pics with Team Dignitas merz, TeamLiquid.Ret and Grubby! Huge probs to all of them to taking the time to take photos with fans. Grubby had a huge following waiting for photos after he took down Lalush.
Uploading will take place with a blog entry once I get to my own home computer =)
Concerns
So far my biggest concern have been that even though Khaldor has been there I haven't heard him a single time at the event through speakers. The commentators need to present for the live audience as well! If anything they could have massively helped people with time tables etc. since information has been way too scarce for the live audience. Word of mouth has been only way to discover what was going on.
Closing
Other than that Day 2 was a huge blast, and I'll be there tomorrow wearing a Zerg Rush t-shirt, so come up and say to me. Probably be wearing a cap too, cause my hair is messed up haha :D
