Low ladder is certainly turning out to be a most cheesy place. I have two accounts and the one I am referring to is my play around account where I am currently gold. I use it mostly to play off race, try out fun things and such, but man oh man what a boring league the lower leagues are. Yesterday I played a total of five matches on my gold account and in all my matches I was cheesed by gold and platinum players. I meet two Protosses who naturally all-in 4 gated since that is the only tactic that seems to work both on high and low level and is easy to pull off. I meet two Zergs (which is pretty rare now days) and both of them roach rushed, although in one case I scouted a10 pool and just build some spines and roaches myself and waited to crush him. That was fun. And the one Terran player I meet went 3 racks bunker rush.
I am just lucky I don’t need to play in the lower leagues, but just out of fun. I can’t imagine how utterly boring it must be for like 80% of all SC2 players to constantly cheese each other to get a win. I also think it is pretty bad that I now can’t play around testing new things on the ladder without being cheesed within the 6 min mark. Hey people! I want to build my infestors and destroy some of your shit before you beat me! It’s almost like low level people have given up hope on becoming good at macro and is trying to score easy wins by just cheese all the time. I mean they must realise that they are eventually going to end up in a higher leauge being hopelessly defeated by early scouting and will only win if they manage to dodge being scouted. And that is hardly a good way to end up, you will just get knocked down again.
Cheese is a part of StarCraft, but almost everyone is doing it down there. I feel genuinely bad for the few players who try to do a macro game but fail constantly to cheese all-ins. You can hardly practice macro on your own level and it is not like a cheese player will be able to just change tactic once he has entered masters and believe he can go par on par with the master level macro players.
