+ Show Spoiler [old opening text] +Ok, after been pretty sick the last two days i got lots of time to watch/rewatch a lot of day9 dalies.
Now i come to the conclusion that i want to play more SC2, get better and find a practise-party to have fun and improve the sc2-skills together.
i already checked the practise-partner-thread and replied to some other blogs, but no response so far.
now we get into the detail:

Ranks:
1v1: bronze
2v2: bronze
3v3: gold
4v4: gold
played only a few matches in 1v1 because it felt really odd to me (i gues because of a lack of practise). i used to play 3v3 and 4v4 with some people, but this group fell apart.
Havent played for a while now due to some mayor-exams that were more important than SC2, so i might have become quite bad in sc2.
I should do my placement-matchens in ladder2 also (but need some practise again i think)
If someone might want to join me, fell free to respond or send me a PM.
ill try to keep this as uptoday as possible.

+ Show Spoiler +won 3 of 4 placements on one day. Summary con be found in the last post of this thread. Doesnt feel that arwkard like in S1/S2. I wonder where i will be seeded when i finsih the last match today. a month has passed.
well i still didnt play the placemenmatches *cough*lazy*cough* but i did some costumgames to get used to the mechanics again.
looks like i was able to make the step from "non-existing" macro to "horrible" macro with tendencies in direction of "aweful" macro ^^
i gues the next step would be to finally pick a race and stop random, but only one race feels a bit boring after some time. so i gues i will stick to random for the next time.

quite annoying so far
havent found the motivation to do my placement for S2 and they start to announce infos about S3.
... still stick to random and still dont play on a regular base.
some1 who kick my butt for motivation would be awesome, but havent found practise buddies nor buddies to just do some crazy costumgames yet.
have to admit i get that itchy feeling in my fingers when i watch stuff like MLG, Dreamhack, GSL etc pp but cant use this spark to light my motivation so far.

how do you want to get better if you never ever hop on ladder? if you have watched a fair bit of day9, play around 100 games and you should find yourself in platinum.

good question, why do i avoid laddering so much ?
i dont really know ...
maybe ill try to start like day9 recommended in one of his daylies and play 1 game a day, after some time 2 games etc pp.
lets see how this will work and if your right with your plat-gues ^^

done 4 of 5 placements so far (all today)
1. game: random vs random
(got zerg, opponent tos)
tried to go with the ice fisher but messed up the gas/lair-timing and got crushed by DTs
might have been able to hold it when there was detection.
--> he was a 1k win dia/plat-player
2. game: opponent instant quits (i gues my gl hf ♥ scared him 11)
he was 0 win-player
3. random v P
got terra and went MMM+tanks (not very solid but ok). defended his first stalker-heavy wave and launched revenge-attack right after that. sieged with 6 tanks his ramp and mowed down hte groundforces. was a very lucky timing because my medivac spotted 2 stargates pumping voidrays. but they were close to the cliff so i sieged them down. took out the core-pylons of his base and won.
4. game random v T
went 3gate robo, quite sloppy but i was ok.
he tried to pressure with ~6-8 marines but i blocked ramp with 2 sentires, had to cancel expo though.
he retreated and i went obs-scouting. found him on the last position. my obs told he he had 0 detection, so i went DTs + prism. wapred 2 Dts in outside the base and dropped them + 3 waroins. 2 went into the mineralline, the other 3 into his groundforce (MM+tanks no medis). his mineralline got obliterated before he reacst, the groundforce got mowed down by all 5 DTs and he left after that.
well, it feels quite nice i have to say. better than during S1 ^^
So far i try to get into 3 BOs for hte races
P = 3gate robo
Z = ice fisher
T = ... nothing good yet, feel free to recommend (tried ghst first etc, but not good for me)
things to improve:
-macro, tend to get some trustfonds during fights (depedning on race)
-macro, get the first 40-50 supplies without getting stuck, after that depends on race
-macro, expo-timings, dont feel good after taking natural
-scouting
-maybe redefine unitgroups
--> atm 7 = CC / nexus / hatch
--8 queen, doing the injects via minimap
--1-3 units (for terra)
--1-4 (units toss / zerg)
--upgrade-buildings get put into 1 group and tab'd through if needed
--playing the grid-setup and feel quite fine with that
... thats all for the moment (i wonder if anyone reads this blog anyway) ^^

ok, done the last placement

Xel naga Caverns,
got zerg and did the ice fisher again. didnt messed up the lair / evo timing this time.
forgot to do some scouting (did some but not all the time). controlled the towers with lings and kept them under my controll when marines tried to take them back.
he started to push with 1:1 mariens and a lot of tanks
had some infestors with energyupgrade and 2:2 lings with 0:2 roaches.
made a runby with a group of lins and killed some reinforcements and did some damage in his main. he pushed with tanks and rines, killed all the rines with FG but havent been able to stop the tanks (did reduce their count quite nice IMO) but wasnt able to hold against the reinfocements. i gues some mutas would be really nice but had no spire at this time ...

made it up to 39 in my gold division, but got dropped to silver after W/L 2-1 ...
now im working my way back to gold (hopefully).
i was placed on 20 in silver, won many games but still moved lower the ladder, down to 39.
did a 2h ladder-thon yesterday and moved back to ~30 (the highest random in the division ^^)
had some nice talking after some games and was able to teach 1 player how to do the ♥ ^^

i made it to the top 15 in my silver-division, still random.
but after talking to a buddy, he gave me the advice to start pick a race for better improvement.
because i was unable to pick my race right from the spot i made the decision that i will play each race for 1month (right now i do ~20game per week). by doing that i get a more detailed view on that ace and can figure out if the race is good for me or not.
i rolled a dice at the beginning to give all 3 races a fair chance. 3 turns made it clear that i would start with zerg. but due to the larva-management i dont think i should start with zerg.
so after taking zerg out of the pool, i decided that terran will get the first shot to convince me.
so hereby i delacre this month be the month of terran !
lets see where this will get me, i have to pick some BOs now and start getting used to them. after this month i will make some kind of summary for the race and get to the next one. which will be, for the moment, protoss and last but not least zerg. i think this is a good way because with T and P first i can practise the basics of macro before i have to deal with the additional problem of larva-management.

Has been a while since i posted something here ...
Well im in China since Oct'11 so no chance to play some games ....
Until i left to China i played Terran, for hm almost 1,5 month i think. went up to 15 Silver.
Well when i return to Germany in Feb, im totally out of practise.
Now the important question:
should i switch race again, to zerg this time?
Reasons for switching:
- im out of practise, with all races, so i have to learn it again anyway
- im more or less still in random mood and want to check all 3 races before i pick my race
- zerg feels sexy at this moment, hard to explain, terran feels a bit ... slow or odd
- i know some higher zergs, so i get some good training and advice-boost
Reasons not switching:
- played terran for a while, maybe some mechanics are still left
- will delay the process of race-picking
- i know some higher terrans, might help to return to terran-palystyle

Back in Germany
after a few days of practising and changing the hotkeys i started to get a little bit used to zerg
in general i start to use the speedling-expand (more or less) to get some basics and later on maybe find a build for each setup.
may placements 3won, 2lost brought me into gold-league, rank 42
