Besides strategy games, I have always loved RPGs (not MMOs). So, I've always been very comfortable playing games offline, by myself. I played for the experience and story, which is why the competitive scene never drew me in.
However, between 3 and 4 years ago, I found the SC Pro scene via YouTube (as many do), and I've been watching ever since. Some months, I would watch several games a day, some months I would only watch a couple games a week, but it's still been an ever-growing passion, when I have time to devote to it.
I got SC2 when it came out and played the campaign, and I've been following the competitive scene, but I haven't played online yet. However, I want to change that.
Now, I am motivated to start playing SC2 online, expand my knowledge of the game even more, devote more time to this passion, and to get more involved with the community.
I want to start making connections with other SC players/fans. I've been reading forums like TL for the past 4 years, but I never really got involved (falling into my single-player mentality).
So, I'd like to start by asking if there are any other people out there in the NYC area, or within a one to two hour radius of Stamford, CT, where I live.
I know that places like Toronto and northern CA have had groups get together to watch tournaments, and I'd love to be a part of something like that in my area. Unfortunately, I missed PAX East (due to moving that same weekend...).
I'd also like to make friendships online. So, feel free to PM me or post here no matter where you are, if you'd like to chat.
I'm not putting any age limits on this, of course, but I mentioned my age at the beginning of this post just in case there are any other folks out there that are my age and wouldn't mind communicating with another chilled, aging gamer without attitude or ego.
Thanks for reading, and I look forward to contributing more to the community soon!
