Welcome, first of all.
I'm RoBellicose, a long time lurker of TL before I up and registered when I got my copy of SC2. So far so good, I've enjoyed being a part of the Team Liquid community, especially on IRC when fantastic events such as the latest TSL have been going on. In fact, it is down to the latest TSL that I'm posting as a blog.
Essentially, I trust you lot to be as excited as I am about e-sports, starcraft streaming and a whole variety of nerdy topics that have been discussed on occasion, although to my lasting shame an embarrassing reference to a flatmate's girlfriend has been my only quote in the IRC thread. Finally, on to the topic of this particular blog.
I've finally decided on the design of my tattoo. It's a simple, straightforward design, and I'm extremely pleased with it. However, I'm currently struggling on where to place the damned thing. I keep wavering between upper arm, shoulder blade or on my side (about where your elbow would be if you were standing up and keeping your arms by your sides). Because of my career (joining the Royal Navy in September) I can't get a tattoo anywhere that would be visible whilst wearing a T-shirt, so I'm somewhat limited in locations. I'm interested to hear about the body areas TL members have had tattooed, why they chose those areas and if they have any suggestions for myself.
For reference, here's the tattoo design:
and yes, they're shorthand diagrams for serotonin and dopamine, two neurotransmitters that are involved with happiness and reward. Extra bonus in the image for being associated with good moods and having HO HO HO laid out in the chemical structure

Interesting tattoos. Are you a chemistry major? Can't help with your question, I have no tattoos.

Yo, shoutouts to you for joining any navy, I'm in the U.S Navy myself. I would recommend the upper arm for your first tattoo, mainly becuase it's the easiest place to get it and hide it. Some places, like the shoulder blades, can be particularly painful for some people, while the upper arm is a relatively numb part of your body.
Good luck.

My degree was in mechanical engineering, but I did chemistry at college before university. I hadn't really considered how painful the tattoo would be, but seeing how this is my first tattoo, I am definitely leaning towards the upper arm now, thanks Kaal!
Speaking of the U.S. Navy, during my time at university I luckily managed to get a position on a three week exchange programme with cadets at Annapolis. It was interesting to see the differences in training style between the U.S. and Royal Navy, and the east coast of your country had some amazing places to visit. Unsure if I'd want to be on a dry vessel for a long length of time though.

i remember a picture of a girl on google with a serotonin tattoo on her hip...that was pretty hot lol.
In that case, maybe put the bicyclic serotonin molecule on the right shoulder blade curving along with the bone so the contours match. and put the dopamine molecule running down vertically just left of your spine around kidney level?

ooh, had never really thought about splitting them up... Now that I think about it, that could look really nice. Now I have more options! GODDAMNIT.
Seriously though, this is great input. I have the appointment with the artist booked in for the 14th April, she was happy enough with the image, and wasn't that concerned with knowing where I wanted it due to the simplicity of it, so she said I could let her know the day before. Guess I have to decide before then where I want these to go!

Oo nice tattoo, how about back of neck?
