to start as always with my blogs if your a grammar spelling punctuation nazi you should just stop reading now im very bad at english i know this already no need to post about it. :p
on to my blog
I have been a fan of day[9] and have been watching his dailies since daily #26 and i still love them but i feel since sc2 they give much less info then they use to. now i know this is kind of a good thing as there is alot of new players or less skilled players who this benefits alot but for players like myself who dont learn from dailies these days i feel like day9 needs to do some dailies on high level thing like the maps(i feel like map analysis of the current ladder pool would help alot) or some dailies on unit compositions would be a great help for myself and im sure many other viewers.
added a poll to get the forums opinion.
Poll: Would dailies on higher level things(like map analysis) help you?yes (62) 84% no (12) 16% 74 total votes Your vote: Would dailies on higher level things(like map analysis) help you? (Vote): yes (Vote): no
and of course i still love day9 just posting to show some fan opinions on the show.
again sorry my english sucks.

map talk would be nice. dont know what else he could do without exposing himself to discussion.
for me its kinda sad that his once genious game analyzing is often very limited "for nub" talk now. i dont blame him and i guess its for the best, still makes me abit sad and not watch his show anymore :>

i feel the same i really only watch funday monday i dont learn from the show anymore i would like to see even 1 day a week of higher level thing and even though nubs wouldnt learn as much from it im sure most would be fine watching it and even learn a few things.
and exposing himself to discussion wouldnt be to bad aslong as he lets the fans know its just how he feels and not necessarily correct.

of course most people on this site are going to say yes we want higher level analysis but ppl reading your blog on teamliquid makes for a pretty biased sample i think day9's viewer base nowadays is mostly low level players and even people who don't play the game.

I've been thinking this a lot lately as well with every other daily showcasing silver level players having fun with the game instead of high level play.
Funday Mondays have been rather uninteresting lately. The earlier ones forcing players to try things that aren't commonly considered (no queens, carriers, mass queens, no tank/MM, etc) were both fun and provided some food for thought, the newer ones have been predominantly "for fun" (at least I think so).
Newbie Tuesdays have been pretty nice (mechanics and getting into the game among others), some of them aimed a bit low for me, but with that name it comes as no surprise (and I have no problem with it).
Also with the FM and NT whenever there are less than the normal amount of dailies, it's the high level analyzis dailies that go away usually (I think).
I'd prefer more high level analyzis, but I don't think I'm the average viewer so I guess he's on the right track for his purposes.
|
My take is he's just so busy doing his casting, dailies, & uni work, he just doesn't have the time to dedicate into actually playing SC2 as much as he did in SC:BW. And since he's not a tip-top player anymore, he can't give the great super in-depth strategy and map analysis like he did in his BW dailies. But, as he probably understands the limits on how much he can bend space-time, he's now aiming more for the plethora of plebs that can still get a great deal out of him.
|
I found his BW dailies and a lot of the earlier sc2 ones much higher level so I used to watch them almost any chance I could (even tho they start at like 11 PM here). I agree now his analysis is almost exclusively for bronze / silver / gold. I guess its his largest demographic though

im not saying he should stop doing lower level stuff but a daily once or twice a week for higher level play doesnt seem like much and would please many older and even some new fans.

Being a gold level player myself, I'd still agree I wouldn't mind seeing some higher level analysis one day a week, maybe on Thursday to end the week strong. I think in addition this would give a nice progression to the flow of dailies on a weekly basis as well as a nice variety for Day9 himself so he's not always doing the same thing (which is why I think I remember him saying he started doing funday monday and noobie tuesday in the first place)
Monday: Fun Tuesday: Noobs Wed: Normal analysis Thursday: Higher analysis

He knows as much about the game as any top player.
I think its about time he stepped up the skill level a little

This would be very nice indeed.

day9 used to blow my mind consistently. then he started doing sc2 now i find him just as boring as hd or husky

imo i think it'll get better when he finishes school and when he stops his thesis. lol

i wouldnt call him boring i just dont learn as much these days.

BW Day9 stuff was great ya, the analysis and everything was brilliant. If he dedicated more of his dailies to high level stuff I'd definitely watch them. He just tries so hard to bring newer players into the community, but it'd be nice if he catered to the older crowd a bit.
|
IT would be boring for the noobs to watch the map analyze I think, because they want to be entertained, and not watch some guy ( Sean <3 ) talk shit loads about maps. I think it would be good for dimond +++ leaguers but under o.o
I think he should make some days he gives the pro some tips, and not only the weak players like he did in BW. I don't know if he has the knowledge, because he has too much to do, but he will have for sure when he quit his studies and start SC2 100%
