I am a fairly busy guy, and don't get to ladder 1v1 too often. Because of this I only ladder once I've warmed up a bit (you get rusty not playing 1v1 for a few weeks) to preserve my "true" rating.
So I've been trying to break Master's for a few weeks, when it came out I was 51-36 diamond and thought I was pretty close for a few different reasons.
So every weekend I've been warming up and then playing a few ladder games. I usually get put up against rank 1 diamond (cos they ladder so often I guess) or occasionally a Masters player. I've been winning most of my games, the losses usually (but not always) to the Masters players.
Que this weekend. My record is 67-48, I've warmed up and I'm playing really well - really well, say 95% of my maximum and making practically no mistakes that I might usually make.
I lose my first game, win one, then lose the next six, dropping 80 points (from seven losses) and getting a +22 for the win.
Most of the games are 'teams even', and they are all very close games, but I lose them all whilst playing at my best - It's very disheartening to lose continually while playing your best. From this, I've concluded that I just won't be able to make it into Masters, given the rate at which people are improving relative to me. (I feel comfortable with macro, micro and especially strategical knowledge and builds, although I know my micro is a weak point. My current limitation holding me back from improvement is multitasking ability, one of the hardest skills to learn).
I guess it's a credit to how the game is developing, your average player is much much better now than when beta finished up.
So I'll be leaving my SEA 1v1 a/c at 68-55 ...till next season.
If I get the urge for 1-1 I'll use my NA a/c: 19-7 Plat.
Thanks for reading my blog ^^
P.S. Hope for some good games tonight - July fighting!!

The problem I find with SEA server are just that there are to few players on it I stick to The NA Server

One thing I think you should try in your warm up games is working on very very specific things. For example you say your multitasking is not so good. What you can do is play your first game vs very easy A.I. and play a long game (your normal strategy up to 3-4 bases) but while doing so, micro a worker around the opponents base the whole time. I recommend picking protoss for the A.I.'s race simply because zerglings or a marine will kill your worker fast. That is just one example of something you can do.
If you are having trouble macroing during fights or something then play an aggressive style/build that requires you to macro during fights and just focus on that. Every time you attack think to yourself in your head "make units!!!"
Whatever you decide you need to work on, just make sure you think of something specific along with a specific way to improve it then do it. That is an effective way for most people to improve when you have a limited amount of time. I hope this helps you out a bit, let me know if it does! Also if you come up with some interesting ways to improve in certain areas you should post them =) training techniques are always interesting and useful to read.

Hmm, I can train units fine when attacking. I guess my problem is building things like supply, extra racks at optimal timing while microing units in a battle, my speed is just not good enough. (For example I will engage a battle, during battle I micro whilst producing units from all my structures. To get more production I stim away from battle, switch to base, build 2 rax, reengage. If I were faster I could also load a medivac and drop their base whilst doing this.) Best cure is probably just to play more TvT, by far most multitasking-intensive matchup. Have to be super quick to unseige and move your army around and have excellent map awareness, while macroing off 4+ bases. I think the key to TvT is play an aggressive style, even if its just fainting, simply to get them to be the one who always reacts and not have the multitasking themselves to do drops, multi-prong attacks etc.

If you want to improve multitasking, just force yourself to think about the thing you have to do all game, make sure you remember about all of them. At first its a bit hard, but later on you'll get it on unconsciously
